Brilliant location and responsive management

Could not get a more convenient location. Very close to the cathedral but the bells are sufficiently muted by shutting the doors. Walking distance from the station and right in the midst of the old town. However, absolutely no street noise as you are at the back of the building. The communal courtyard provides a nice outdoor sitting space. Comfy beds. A small maintenance issue we noted on arrival was dealt with quickly and effectively.

Excellent stay

This is the second time we have stayed at this apartment. Excellent location. Right next to york Minster and so central. Lovely apartment. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again. Added bonus is parking included.

Wonderful flat

We have been staying at Stonegate Retreat for over six years and it never fails to live up to our expectations. The location is perfect and the flat is always clean and comfortable.

Excellent Stay

We visited York for a week and it was the perfect apartment for a family holiday. A brilliant property in the centre of York. Highly recommend! We will definitely book it again when we come back to York.

Fantastic Location

This is the third year we’ve stayed here. You can’t fault the location, even though it’s set behind a main street, it’s very quiet. Great view of the Minster. Apartment is nicely furnished and clean. The only reason I’ve given it 4 not 5 stars, is that there were peanuts and bits of crisp under one of the settee seat cushions, and the pull out cupboard in the kitchen could do with a clean as crumbs and bits in the bottom. Would highly recommend, and hopefully we’ll be back next year.

Stonegate Retreat was just perfect for our stay in York. Right in the middle of town with York Minster in view from the living room. It is a beautiful apartment with everything you could need. Andrew from Stays York also provided excellent customer service. Thank You for a wonderful stay!

Delightful in every way!

Couldn't have asked for more - clean, comfortable, well-appointed flat in a wonderful location. All as advertised and did not disappoint. We visit York to spend time with family at least once per year and we'll certainly consider staying at Stonegate Retreat again!

Fabulous stay at Stonegate

The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. Incredibly easy to book, I received confirmation straight way with all the details I needed, including instructions on parking. The apartment is right in the centre of York and has views over the Minster. It is exactly as described and as is immaculately clean. Despite being in the centre it is also very quiet which is a real bonus. Couldn’t recommend more highly and we will definitely be back and will absolutely book again with Stays York.

Loved this apartment and the cleanliness was 100%

As a last minute change from original booking we were a bit dubious But when we got in we were very very impressed with it. Plenty of space,2 bathrooms and everything we needed.and right in town and close to minster etc. we will definitely be back and thank you to all the Stays booking team. A great job. 100%

Great location for a York Christmas Trip

Great place to stay, for three female school friends, in York. The location is near the Minster, Betty's Tearoom, Shambles...The clean apartment is equiped with everything you need for a short stay, especially the kitchen. It is set back from Stonegate and therefore quiet, except for the beautiful sound of the bells from the minster. We received a generous welcome pack with some lovely treats. The apartment is warm and the airing cupboard is great to dry wet coats.

Best location in York

Clean, quiet and very comfortable 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment, right in the middle of York, with views of York Minster. Roomy ensuite with shower and huge bathroom with bathtub. Definitely a home away from home, so we extendedour stay. Hosts provide a giftbox that included champers, choccies, biscuits, chips and small sample of tea and coffee which was very much appreciated. Only negative was only 1 coffee pod and one teabag provided which meant we ran out of coffee.

Perfectly located comfortable, spacious and well equipped space in central York.

Lots of room, everything you might need is supplied. Beds were comfortable and bedrooms spacious. Lots of ambient lighting as well as bright lights for when they are needed… Bathrooms well appointed. We had a slight issue re basin plug, but it was a minor thing. Kitchen and living areas were bright and well furnished. We found the kitchen overhead cupboard doors difficult to open and heavy to hold- perhaps it was just us…. Instructions for access and entry were clear, and we appreciated the details for refuse and recycling arrangements.

Very nice unit in a convenient location

Unit was quite nice and in a convenient location. Harder to find than it should have been, as Google routed us to the wrong location and we didn’t immediately spot the entrance. Sofas were not very comfortable and the dining chairs were a bit rickety and coming apart, however the beds were quite comfortable and the unit was well stocked with most things you’d need. We felt it was a good value at the rate we paid and would stay there again. Hopefully those furniture items I mentioned will be updated.
