Tucked away in a quiet setting in the heart of St Ives's Downalong quarter, this delightful cottage is a just 100 metres from the town's bustling streets, and within a pebble's throw of the fabulous Porthmeor Beach.

One of a handful of character properties in Hicks Court which sits at the entrance to the narrow cobbled streets of The Digey, the location of this little gem is superb. Porthmeor's surfing beach and iconic café as well as the harbour, some of the town's best restaurants, its galleries and shops, all lie on the doorstep. And for those travelling by car who'd like to explore the whole of St Ives Bay, places like Gwithian, Hayle, Carbis Bay and Lelant are just a few minutes away.

The space the cottage offers is perfect too. Comfortable bedrooms, a lovely living room, amply equipped kitchen, large bathroom and private courtyard provide families, couples, friends and their dogs a beautiful base from which to enjoy holidays in one of Cornwall's most famous towns. Shell Cottage also provides a parking space, which as most know is a real plus for St Ives, especially during the busy summer season.

We ask our guests for a £100 security deposit, pre-authorised against your credit card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved and then released afterwards if there is no damage. We will contact you nearer the time of your arrival to arrange this.

Pets: 2 pets allowed. Please advise the Luxury Coastal team directly if you would like us to host your pet after completing your booking. A charge of £40 per pet per stay/week will be applicable and required before your stay. We will arrange and invoice with you directly upon booking confirmation.

Wonderful Stay in Shell Cottage St. Ives

Lovely place but only the parking spot was 2k from the cottage, uphill, far from ideal.

Excellent location

Cottage is in a great central location- in less than a minute you can be on Fore street or Porthmeor beach. Lovely comfy beds, super bathroom. Lounge is a little small but perfectly adequate. The small outside space is great if you are bringing a dog. Would definitely stay again

Short Break

We loved our recent stay at Shell Cottage, prime location for Porthmeor Beach, restaurants and shops.Modern accommodation with lovely home furnishings, great bathroom. We can not comment on the car parking as those familiar with St Ives will know that the roads are narrow in this area, we parked at nearby Barnoon Car Park for dropping off our things and parked there for the duration to make it easier as only on a short break.Home from home, highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Fabulous Mini Break

Had a fabulous stay at Shell Cottage it was equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The only thing that was confusing was it stated there was a shuttle bus to the car park which was a 15minute walk away but there was no shuttle bus it wasn't a major issue as we could drop off and pick up our luggage near the cottage but it would have saved time looking for the transport. The cottage was beautiful and very central would love to go back.

Perfect location but getting tired

Shell cottage is in the perfect location, handy for all the shops and the sea front and is the perfect size for the two of us and our two dogs. We have stayed many times now and it is our go to holiday cottage but it is starting to look tired. It could do with decorating and certain things replacing. My niggles are relatively petty but annoying all the same. The plates are too big for the dishwasher as are most of the glasses, the few that remain that is. It is reasonably well equipped but the equipment is old and worn out. The baking trays are unusable as the coating is flaking, the knifes are blunt, the crockery is chipped, etc.The shower regularly backs us needing a visit from maintenance. The little courtyard is always overgrown and filthy, again requiring a visit from maintenance. The pictures should be updated on the booking site to reflect the current standard and general maintenance should happen regularly rather than as requested. That said we have our next two visits booked but will be bring additional things to use especially for our visit over Christmas where we will have no choice but to cook. A bit of TLC would go a long way towards making this the perfect 5 star cottage.
