It is completely unacceptable to intentionally try to damage the strong reputation I’ve worked so hard to build—especially through false accusations and anger. As a property owner, I’ve dedicated significant effort to maintaining high standards, and I take pride in the positive reviews I’ve earned. The issue began when the guest failed to disclose that they were bringing a pet. When I politely asked if they had checked in with a dog, the guest became immediately defensive and falsely claimed that the pet fee had already been paid during the reservation process. I responded kindly, suggesting that perhaps VRBO had accidentally omitted the fee. I then contacted VRBO directly and was informed that the guest had never disclosed bringing a pet. VRBO confirmed that they reached out to the guest via email to request the $50 pet fee, which he refused to pay. Following this, the guest began to fabricate issues. He sent me a photo of a large, dirty AC vent covered in black debris, claiming it was from my property. I was shocked, as the image clearly did not depict anything from my home. He indicated he would be requesting a refund anyway and even asked for my advice. It became obvious that his goal was to avoid paying for his stay. I responded if they chose to leave, they could leave. He chose to leave, and I even extended his checkout time as a courtesy. The entire AC system was installed within the past few years, so his accusation is clearly baseless and part of a fabricated story—likely stemming from his refusal to pay the required pet fee. It's incredibly frustrating and disheartening to deal with guests who act in bad faith. Nonetheless, I wish him all the best in his future stays through VRBO or Airbnb. Thank you.
