Nothing could be more perfect than to have our first guests celebrate their first anniversary in our home. We were a bit nervous hoping everything was ready, nothing overlooked. We purchased the home about six months prior to Hurricane Michael and where in the process of performing needed renovation and repairs. The hurricane spared our home, but flooded or damaged hundreds, if not thousands of homes in the area. Good contractors are impossible to find at present, and preference is given to local residents trying to return to their homes. We are patiently waiting for the shortage of labor to subside, so all necessary repairs can be completed properly. We realize that that vast majority of residents which comprise the local service labor force have lost their homes, and are struggling to rebuild while the serve the tourist industry. In light of their plight, we remembe that patience is a virtue. As the country rebuilds the infrastructure, periodic uitlity interruptions occur, including water outages. Part of what we love about the Cape is it is uncrowded and relatively undeveloped, which also means the area is sparsely populated and somewhat rural. The Cape runs at a different, slower pace, which is part of its charm of the area and helps most guests to unwind and relax. Most guests understand and appreciate the small town friendliness and atmosphere, but not all. Of the dozens of guests we've hosted, this is our first rating below 5 stars, which goes to show you the Cape isn't for everyone. Though we try to please all our guests, you can't please everyone all the time, no matter how hard we try. Our home isn't perfect, but it is one of the most beautiful homes on the Cape in an idyllic setting. We hope to soon have it perfect, or at least as close as possible.
