We're disappointed you were only able to leave us three stars. Yes, the house is old, over a hundred years old in fact, and is rustic - all of which is clearly spelled out in the description. We can only assume that is why you left a lower score? It would be helpful to know more. We're glad you enjoyed the porch and location.

Parking and walking up a rocky path to the house was difficult for my 77 year old mother.Will never do it again.

Sadly we had no idea you were with an older adult. If we had known we certainly could have answered questions about access and suitability for anyone with mobility challenges. However, photos of the property clearly show the gravel path leading to the stairs to the front porch so that should not have come as a surprise. We’re sorry you found it difficult but would encourage better communication with hosts on the front end when booking a vacation rental.

Lovely old home for a family respite from modern stresses. The porches and bathtub were the highlights, as well as the location being right on the trail and a short distance to the park. We appreciated the old world architecture, and the short cozy doorways and rooms were fun for our kids.

This is our third year staying here and it’s always a great stay. House was noticeably more clean and organized than years past - not that it was bad before - maybe felt a little more rustic - but this year sinks looked scrubbed, rugs vacuumed, plentiful towels, blankets and heaters organized and in plain sight so kudos to your cleaning crew. Thank you!

No air conditioning and with hotter summers it’s tough to keep the house cool. But the space was cozy and super convenient!

Everything is clean and is as listed. Note that this is a very old historic home so some doorways are small and some older fixtures and amenities. But perfect quiet getaway and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Great location!

We had an amazing stay here for Easter weekend! The location is fantastic, walking distance to Robert Lake Park and the Moore Center. Weather could not have been more perfect, we always love a trip to Montreat!

We had a wonderful stay at LaMotte Cottage. It was charming, clean, and comfortable. My daughter in Swannanoa came over to visit with her toddler and we enjoyed walking to the park with playground. A couple of friends came for supper on the deck. Thanks for the opportunity to stay at the cottage.

Great spot for all things Montreat

This is a great older property within walking distance to Montreat and trails. We visited for the 7 Sisters 25k trail race and this was a perfect location for our weekend of hanging out and running on the trails around Montreat. Treat yourself and visit this place and area.
