Great place to hide away

The views are beautiful, the house is very comfortable. My group of friends had a great time hanging out and fishing on and off the boat.

We do share in our welcome information the suggested items to bring so guests can be fully prepared. Regarding the issue with the Pontoon Boat shutting off, we truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Unfortunately, we later discovered that previous guests had put water in the gas tank, which caused the unexpected problem. We have addressed this so it will not be an issue moving forward. And, that is a reason we do not charge extra for the boat - in case we have any unexpected issues. We are glad you were still able to enjoy your time, and we hope to welcome you back again!

Family Fishing Trip

We had a great week! This was our second time staying at the Sugar Island House and it was another great week of fishing and relaxing. The house was clean, comfortable and in a great location.

A fun stay

It was a great getaway for the family. The pontoon was a great option to have. The out side of the property could use some up keep and the cleanness of the inside could be improved. But it is a nice property and nice location. We really enjoyed it! Great communication with the property owners! Would stay again for sure!

Great Vacation Home

My family and I stayed at the "Sugar Island House" for 5 nights. This was the most relaxing house we ever stayed in on Sugar Island. We had everything that we needed in the house and the fishing was good all week. Laurie and Scott were great hosts and were very easy to get ahold of. Looking forward to returning to this rental sometime next year.

Decent stay

Inside updating was good The back porch smelled like mold/dirty Outside of the house needs work. Thought it was a little overpriced for the amount t of clean up we needed to do before leaving.

A perfect setup for a couple families!

The house worked out really well for a couple families staying for two nights for a youth hockey tournament in the Soo. Laurie was quick to respond to the couple questions we had and everything went very smoothly. Kitchen space was large and open and great to entertain! The inside of the home was clean and appeared to be recently remodeled. Very happy with our weekend on the island!

Fishing trip

Had a wonderful vacation with husband, mother-in-law, son & daughter-in-law. House was perfect, clean, comfortable, spacious and exactly, as advertised. Many mishaps that were out of owners control; however communication with owners was excellent. Owners went above and beyond to help mitigate issues as they arose.

Great home, scenery excellent, pontoon was why we booked. Five mile limit on where to take pontoon, so ended up we couldn't take it to fishing spots we wanted to. (Did not have Canadian fishing license or we would have definately hit the opposite shore 200 yards away -international border goes through middle of river in front of house) Moter ran good and starts immediately. Gas can at house so you can run to the grocery to get more gas (4 stroke motor) but we brought our own can and filled it more than what we used. I would have a lot more instructions/directions if it was mine. Too easy for a novice to start motor (or anxious kid) and not have motor in water far enough so water pump is immediately supplied with water. Little note inside house said US, coast guard rules applied, but none there to read. There are fish in that stretch of river, but this 60 year old experienced fisherman, got SKUNKED fishing for first time in decades. If you want to just relax go for boat ride, see the loons and ducks and scenery it is a perfect spot. PULL the front door tight to lock it. It was unlocked when we got there. just pushing the code to lock it doesnt do it..needs to be pulled snug against door frame. Very nice kitchen, expandable dining table (we noticed someone did not put a table leaf back properly as it was hanging low on one end under the table.) Nice deck to relax on, fire rind and chairs just off deck as well, aluminum dock where pontoon is tied.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! Just to clarify, because we include the pontoon boat as an added extra with the house booking, we really don’t want anything too nice or fancy on the boat. The house rents regardless of the boat, so we try to keep the boat at a level that works for everyone who rents the property. That’s also the reason for some of our boat rules. We want to know that if someone is out on the boat and something happens or we can’t reach them, they should only be about 5 miles in either direction from the property. It’s really just a safety and peace-of-mind thing for us. But!! Please know that anyone is absolutely welcome to bring their own boat! They can park it right at the dock, and we’ve even been known to move our pontoon over to make room for someone’s boat. 😊 We’re definitely not trying to discourage anyone from bringing a nicer boat or enjoying the water however they’d like—we just have to keep the included pontoon within the guidelines we’re comfortable with.

Relax and kick back on Sugar Island

We returned to this Sugar Island split-level home for an enjoyable family vacation. Our family enjoyed the pontoon and fished everyday. The large picture windows were wonderful for taking in the view of the St. Mary's River and birdwatch. The modern kitchen and large living spaces made for comfortable living, even on the occasional rainy days. Thank you Morleys for answering any questions and needs that we had.
