Candace was a very considerate tenant. She really helped cleaning up prior to her departure which was very gracious. She is welcomed any time.

This criticism is a first for this cabin. With respect to the lack of “check in” information, on this guest’s VRBO email communication there were three different threads of communication prior to her arrival. One was an email with check in instructions including the door code. The guest called me upon arrival indicating she did not know how to get into the cabin and I gave her the door code with the same information which is still listed on the VRBO emails. I cannot speak to her GPS misdirecting her, or to the variable hours of the landfill. Island Park is a small community but does post their hours online. I do not guarantee such variables nor do I control extreme weather temperatures. What I do control is a comfortable, privately owned cabin. It so happens I lived in and cleaned the cabin 24 hours prior to this guest’s arrival. While I may indeed have overlooked the coffee filter, the appliances were cleaned, all carpets vacuumed, countertops cleaned with Clorox cleaner, sinks and bathrooms scrubbed, food removed, garage swept and blown out, stairs vacuumed, dusted interiors and fresh towels and linens replaced throughout. As I have cleaned it many times, I felt I left it in perfect condition as I wish for each of my guests to have the best possible experiences. Propane, wood, groceries and other amenities are available in many places in Island Park and within easy driving distance. Within a five-day stay my guests generally do supply these items for themselves. Lastly, my cleaning staff found my cabin in a complete state of disarray after the guests left. My staff was required to haul ten bags of garbage and spend five hours cleaning after these guests. The hammock chair was destroyed which I needed to replace after their check out. I deeply regret this guest had an unfortunate experience as they report. However, I do charge guests for breaking stuff I have to replace or hauling away five days’ worth of garbage after 11 people. I do wonder that if the cabin was this unacceptable why the guests failed to vacate early or complain during their stay? It seems that after they vacated and I sought reimbursement for damages and hauling of garbage, that the unfortunate review was submitted. Regardless, I wish each guest the best of stays!
