A great place to stay!

Just loved this house.A few blocks and pleasant walk to River area. Very roomy. All appliances and grills worked great. Very well stocked.Will try to stay here again the next time I’m in Salida.

The home is elegant in simple ways, yet comfortable and welcoming. There is plenty of space for people to spread out with a generous backyard and outdoor seating. I was concerned that a downtown location would be noisy, but the house is just off the main streets and the nights were very quiet. Lovely home and community. I'd love to stay in this house with friends in Salida again!

The home is lovely and location is ideal. Kitchen is well stocked, plenty of blankets, pillows, towels, comfortable furniture (and beds) and lots of thoughtful touches throughout the home. Loved the deck, patio, and backyard. Highly recommend.

This gem of a house in downtown Salida was perfect for us. It is spacious and comfortable with high ceilings and charming details that are a nod to its former life as a church. The kitchen is well appointed with sharp knives, lots of glassware and plates and cutlery. Even a high end dishwasher. And it truly is walking distance to everything. If I ever find myself in Salida I will be sure to return to Church House.

Great for Holidays

Stayed at the Salida Church House for a few days around Xmas. It's a great location, about as close as you can get to downtown without being right in the middle of it. Fantastic, well-appointed kitchen with everything you need to make a holiday meal for the family. Great backyard/patio. Would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to friends/family.

My wife and I bring our two boys here every year. The house always makes us feel at home and the location is perfect. Centrally located in the heart of Salida; walking distance to everything you could possibly need.

great mountain getaway

A wonderful house with so many extra nice touches, excellent condition, great neighborhood close to so many businesses for our groceries, outings, great walks to everywhere in Salida. The house owners have taken every step to offer a beautiful and relaxing vacation get away.

Alida Church House

We had such a great time in Salida! Loved the house and its location was perfect! Definitely great to be within walking distance of the downtown shopping /dining area and river. Sat on the front porch for the perfect view of the 4 th of July fireworks! The house was very clean and stocked with everything we could have needed. The backyard was great but we spent every evening relaxing on the deck. I would definitely recommend at trip to Salida to family or friends and would most cerydtay here again.

Excellent Stay

We had an excellent stay! The house is beautiful and well-appointed! It has everything you need to hang out and enjoy Salida. It is centrally located to downtown and you could see Moonlight Pizza from your front door. When 10” of snow changed our plans we extended our stay and Tom, the owner, was so patient and helpful as we navigated the change! Definitely staying here again!

Relaxing Vacation

Ladies wanted a place centrally located, easy walk to downtown and a great place to hang out and craft. This house fulfilled all the wants and needs! The kitchen was well-appointed with everything you would need to cook and bake. Beds were comfy and there was enough space to spread out. Tom was wonderful to work with. Coming back on my next visit!

This is a great property! It's very convenient to downtown and we were able to walk everywhere for shopping and dining. The property was accurately depicted on the website. We encountered a minor issue with check-in and were delayed for a couple of anxious hours and felt that the property manager could have communicated a little sooner. But other than that minor issue we have nothing to criticize.

Salida Christmas

Absolutely loved the Salida Church to spend Christmas with our Colorado family. The space felt spacious and comfortable with every amenity we could think of, and we were a short walk from favorite spots downtown. Definitely hope we get to stay here again!

Salida Church House -Excellent stay

This VRBO is conveniently located to downtown where you can walk everywhere even to the hiking trails. The house was clean and well stocked with all the essentials you might need in the kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay!

Perfect Location, Well Equipped

Perfect location, you can walk to everything. Well stocked kitchen and supplies, towels etc. Plenty of space, 3 bedrooms, roll away bed, pack and play. Wonderful back yard area for entertaining. Very nice property managers.

Birthday in Salida

We went to Salida to celebrate my husband's 60th and had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. Beautifully decorated, so comfortable in every aspect, we felt right at home. We enjoyed the out door spaces, plenty of nice seating and shade for the late afternoon and evening. The location is unbeatable! We could even walk to our excursion meeting places. A local park is a few blocks away and we were able to enjoy the Saturday Farmers market! We hope to return!

We were attracted to this property because there is nothing else like it in downtown Salida. It's a detached house - we were not interested in a condo above a retail space. Even with it's downtown location, it has wonderful outdoor space - a deck with two grills and seating area, plus a large stone patio surrounded by green grass and and two trees.

Some history:

The building was constructed as the First Church of Christ, Scientist in 1924. This parcel is indicated as vacant in on the 1914 Sanborn fire insurance map, while the building is shown on the 1929 edition.
As early as 1907, a small group of Christian Science believers met in private homes. In 1909, the church and reading room were housed in a commercial building at today's 131 E. 2nd Street. A 1948 Salida Mail article reported that members had held services for twelve years at the "cottage chapel" on E. Third Street; it had the same address as our building. In 1923, the Salida Daily Mail reported that the First Church of Christ, Scientist, would build a brick church on E. Third Street on the site of its reading room. The newspaper reported that plans had been received in June: "The structure will be of light brick and will be 38 X 50 feet. It will seat 150 people." The building was erected to house the growing congregation. The church was still listed here in the 1951 city directory.
