Sweat Box in Daytona

The owner of this Condo is very confrontational. Thinks she is a lawyer. We arrived at 10pm it had been 95 or that day with a lot of humidity. The ac was blowing zero air room was like a shower at the gym after the third football team had showered in it in the last hour. Was 80plus in the room Called the owner she said she could help till morning. We were not happy but ac issues happen so we all staying in the second room we rented that was very nice and cool. I got a message the next morning that the maintenance folks said the ac was fine. So I went back in the room to see if it was good. Still humid and the temp was down a bit. But zero airflow!!! So it was still muggy in the room and everything was moist. sent owner a message to this effect. She was very upset said we had checked out and now were returning to the room While we had other options made as a back up we didn't check out of this unit. We asked for a full refund owner said no way we had checked in and out and she didn't owe us anything. The room was pretty dirty too. Floor was not really swept. no closet space. Said it had a Murphy bed but it didn't so it was very tight as it had a queen size bed in the room with no closet space or dresser. It was very small but that was fine as we were not planning on being in the room much anyway. WE filed a complaint with VRBO but nothing has happened yet. I guess i will see the owner in court.

Our stay was disappointing. We had stayed many years ago at the property and it seemed overall in a state of disrepair. The room itself was tidy enough, but soap dispenser didn't really work (important during pandemic), coffee pot filled with previous tenants grinds along with mold, pillow cases and bedding were clean but pillows themselves had age to them. Patio door lock didn't seem to work. The listing mentions 2 beds and space for up to 3 folks. It's very important to understand the second bed is an air mattress. That wasn't clear to us and made for some pretty restless nights as an air mattress is fine for one night in a pinch, but a really poor way to spend an entire vacation. Would have stayed elsewhere knowing this. Our largest issue was that a fire took place in the stairwell during our stay. The scary part was that the in-room smoke detectors for all the adjacent rooms did not go off. The smell was really bad and some other guests had to leave. We spent several hours outside our room waiting for the smell to clear. The system at the property appeared to be faulty and they even had signage up about it soon to be upgraded. Communication with the host was good, but once the issues were brought forth, this is where the communication dropped off and did not offer any resolution. In the terms of the stay agreement - a clause for mediation is given; however we were never offered an opportunity to proceed with that and only offered a discount on a future stay.

Anniversary Trip

The condo was exactly what was advertised. Great communication with condo contacts. Our flight was delayed and the host was able to allow us to extend our stay. Absolutely beautiful!!!!

Nice little room with a great view

A nice hotel / condo situation. Great view. Fun tiki style architecture to building. The room is rather small. Just a little bit more closet space would help make it manageable to lay a suitcase and put things away. Ended up using the dining chair and table to house clothing items. The towels smelt terrible, I’m pretty sure they were not washed. The towels and sheets had someone’s hair on them. And the windows that has such a great views of the ocean had to be cleaned immediately. Appeared to not have been wiped clean in weeks/ months.. Luckily, we brought our own towels
 cleaned the windows with supplies there and still really enjoyed our stay. It was a great value for a great view and pretty beach. If it was much cleaner, I would consider making this spot a return location. We did not contact Vrbo or the owners with the issues, it seemed it would have been more hassle than anything. Not looking for a refund or anything. Criticism is only intended to help make the space better.

Disappointed

This place was advertised as a condo. It’s a rundown old hotel. Cold front come through and drop in the 40s and there was no heat. If it wasn’t for a double burner hotplate which just knock the chill off probably would’ve frozen. It was clean and in a good location for me that’s why I give it 2 stars

Amenities galore

Great location and an amazing view. There is a little kitchen so you don’t have to eat out every night which we loved. The property owner was very responsive and even let us check in early. The room is small but just enough for space for a couple. The pool has a DJ, a bar, mini golf, and yard games as well. Amazing spot for a quick getaway!
