Great location

The house was clean and perfect for our family vacation. Great beach access and everything we needed was within a few blocks. I recommend this house for a good family vacation.

Serenity Personified

Great views from the kitchen and the 2nd floor bedrooms. Very serene and quiet, even though it is sitting next a beach access road, but it was the off-season. Kitchen was well equipped and everything was conveniently located. Thought that having to provide your own paper products was a little chintzy. Other places I've stayed have provided paper products as well as cleaning supplies, shampoo and soap in all the bathroom. Because this property is managed by a local realtor might be the reason. Elevator was a nice addition and made moving in easier.

1 Child's dream ......

Great location near the beach and the best Ice Cream place on OKI.. Cape Fear Boil at the end of the street is a must.... The deck was great. The house was as described I guess. Tip bring T.P 1 roll with about ten sheets was present. Sheets and Towels were in plastic wrap I guess from the Covid Flu. Bring Bath towel if you like nice towels. AC was controlled by Nest and Master bed room floor 2 would only hold temp of 70 for 2 hrs and go back to 75 not cool for sleeping. beds were very FIRM guess that ok if you like firm and a warm room. On the only rainy day we could only get one TV to work rest were Code locked. Over all a 3.5 star ..... Oh by the way we could see the 4th of July Fireworks from the corner of the up stairs deck.

Jeffrey, I apologize for the issues you had during your vacation. If these issues had been communicated during your stay, we would have been more than happy to send out our maintenance staff to fix them as quickly as possible. We do send out a check-in email outlining the beds are not made, and sheets are in plastic wrap, which was changed to the standard after COVID-19, as well as TP, paper goods, soaps, and trash bags need to be brought to the home by the guest. We apologize for this miscommunication as well.

Invasion of privacy!!!

First, let me say this was our first time to Oak Island, and we love the area! The house itself was very clean and worked for our family, and the location was not too bad. Unfair to say it’s oceanfront when it’s a good 2-300 yards from the beach. That’s relatively insignificant considering everything else we dealt with though. On checkin we were contacted immediately by Better Beach Rentals about 2 golf carts we rented that were parked in the grass asking us to move them because of the irrigation system. We were told “a neighbor” had informed them of this. We moved them immediately. From that moment if felt like we were being watched the entire time. Once we had settled in we noticed 3 outdoor cameras under the house where everyone comes and goes. This wasn’t listed on the property description page. We also noticed a camera INSIDE THE HOUSE. We would not have rented a house with cameras if we had known this. We reported this to Better Beach Rentals, and they came and removed the indoor camera from the property. They refused to take any further action. Later in the week we noticed one of our family members Yeti cooler was missing. That evening at 9:37 I received a text from someone saying “a neighbor” complained that the lights under the house were on and that they were shining in their windows. I went down to investigate. Only 1 neighbor behind it and had their lights on even brighter than ours. We asked about it and they said it didn’t bother them one bit. I did a reverse phone number search and found it was the owner of the property texting me directly after 9:00 on my vacation because some lights were on. I responded that they were on because we had property stolen, and didn’t feel comfortable leaving them turned off. I asked her to review her cameras and see what she found. The next morning at 4:00AM I started receiving texts from her. She proceeded to tell me how much we were costing her in electricity and water. She did find footage of the guy that stole the cooler and submit it to the police which was appreciated. The owner has left handwritten notes all over the place telling you what you can and can’t do and how to do it. (Rinse off in the driveway not on the sidewalk, do not sit on the comforter, use the dishpan to wash dishes so it doesn’t scratch the sink etc). This owner shouldn’t be renting her property. She is too particular about it. Not a relaxing time. I’ve reported to VRBO. Awaiting response.

Beach vacation

Great house. Plenty of space for us all. Close to the beach. Loved the porch. Great location. We enjoyed our week and were sad to see it end.

Our first beach trip to Oak Island

The house is equipped to make your vacation fun and enjoyable. The elevator is very useful in loading and unloading stuff. The house is about 10-12 minute walk to the beach via the public access road. Food Lion is about 3 minutes away by car. Although we did not dine in in restaurants due to the pandemic, we saw a few restaurants that are near. Suggestions/Recommendations: There are a couple of suggestions for improvement for better housekeeping: 1) The 3 trash bins were overflowing with trash bags when we arrived on Saturday. I called housekeeping the following day and the lady said they'll take care of it but no one came to clear the bins; 2) it would be helpful to spray a non-toxic insecticide inside the house before occupancy. Overall our vacation was pleasant and gave it a 3-1/2 to barely 4 stars.
