On arrival house was dirty,beds not made, bins over flowing with rubbish, hot water scouldering hot ,no face washers.couch very dirty ,Worst house i have ever stayed in ,for the money i paid was a rip off ,bedside lamp big stain on it , shower was dirty, washing in dryer & washing machine ,no coffee,tea,sugar ,long life milk,ILucky i bought a sleeping bag to sleep in as very sensative to bed bugs,No pots to cook with cleaner came dropped some off,and done very quick clean.I should be refunded some of my money walking into such a dirty house ,i dont recomend this house to anyone to stay in. Owner needs to spend money and do it up big time .Owner needs to stay in other houses and see what they provide alot more than her accomodation. Didnt smell clean at all.Cleaner just turn Doona over instead off changing it, only changed the fiyyed sheet as no top sheet,not a happy customer

The key lock box was at ground level, had to kneel on the wet concrete to open the box to get the key, my father-in-law would never of got the key out.The house sleeps six, but had only 3 coffee mugs, only 4 glasses for red wine, it had 2 lids for cooking pots but no pots to cook a meal in.There were tea bags and sugar supplied but no coffee.Towels and sheets were being used to stop draughts in windows. We had to find the bin liner for the bin with the broken lid.No towel rail to hang towels in the bathroom as the rail had been pulled off the wall.Saying this, some easy fixes to make it a great little stay, appears to be some lack of care.Great location for access to Ballarat city centre and to the highway for heading to Melbourne. (Far enough aware there was no traffic noise)

The house needed a good clean. Floors needed sweeping, rugs a vacuum, cooking oven was not fit for purpose - fifthy. Clothes dryer packed full with wet washing.Not one saucepan in the place and our requests were ignored. No door to the toilet.Bed linen and towels are old and tired looking. Had to clean the fridge out before we could put our precious food in it.Three bins in the carport were all overflowing with garbage when we arrived and when we left. We didn't see anyone !

We saw previous reviews and assumed that the issues mentioned would have been addressed but unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. The bed was still broken and unusable and one of the windows was broken, letting in a cold draft. The house was not very clean on arrival — with crumbs and food smears on the bench and table, ripped couch and unclean linen. There was also no door on the toilet, washing left in the machine and the outdoor bins were completely full with no red bin available.The property could be drastically improved with a few simple fixes — repairing the bed and window, updating the furniture, improving cleanliness and upgrading the very small, non-smart TV (no option to mirror).On a positive note, the host was responsive and empathetic when a burst water pipe occurred (which was out of their control) and had it repaired the same day. Overall, it provided a roof over our heads, but the house needs attention to reach its potential.

We arrived to next to no toilet paper. (Had to use our own) the line was full of linen & the linen on the beds wasn’t clean. There are gaps in the windows for insects to come in (had to put pillow cases and towels in the gaps) there was no waste bin outside for our rubbish & the recycling bin was full.

Very disappointed. Toilet did not have a door, there were not enough glass to even drink water, bed was broken in one bedroom. No salt or pepper. The heaters were really good. Not enough warm blankets / doona in all bedrooms.

Unfortunately this stay went from bad to worse Upon arrival we thought it was a nice average house, then we noticed one bedroom had part of a window missing allowing as continual cold breeze to flow through. Travelling with 2 adults and three children as two families this was not ideal in the middle of winter. But unpacked our things ready for our stay. Then just getting ready for dinner and one of our teens sits on a bed only for it to break. Communication was great with the owner and we make out some adjustments for the night. Then we return with food only to notice lipstick on the glasses, plates not washed, dirt and hair caught under the dinner table. Then it’s time for shower and bed, however the shower head doesn’t stay up no matter how hard we try and the door to the other bathroom doesn’t close for privacy. The towel rail breaks when we place a towel on it and toothpaste stains are on the sink and dirt and dust and hair in the bathtub. The two remaining beds are either already broken with mis jointed unlevel bases and the other one has Sun stained old itchy sheets with blood stained doona covers. The owner was going to fix the bed and the shower head and quickly communicated through the night for their plans to have things fixed for the remaining days. However one night was more than enough and didn’t want to stay another night with broken windows and dirty sheets. Got our money back and won’t be coming back.

Brown Hills

Place was very cosy particularly the heaters on cold winters day. Location was ideal, just of the highway, 4k to city centre, on arriving very tired fish and chip store only 2 doors away and then after a long day at Sovreign Hill the next day just 8 doors the other way to the pub. Very clean. I certainly recommend this property.

Where do we start !!!1 bedroom is unusable as there is a 2cm gap in the window which lets in cold air and rain forcing our kids had to sleep together in the other bedroom There are lids for cooking which is great if only there we pots to go with themThere is no door on the toilet which also has a window to let in cold airThe towel rail in the main bathroom was broken and hanging by 1 screw

Basic accomodation

There were a few issues with the house that could do with some attention; there was no shampoo, conditioner, hand soap or dishwashing liquid. The kitchen tap wouldn’t turn properly & was running on the bench, the toilet door couldn’t close and 2/3 beds were so uncomfortable that we had to sleep on the floor. The towels also didn’t smell clean. I mentioned these things to the host but haven’t heard back.

Close to the CBD and attractions such as Sovereign Hill and Kryall Castle. Easy access by road and ample parking.House is comfortable and would stay again.
