An FYI that this is a basement level apartment - I closed windows for more privacy so had less light than the photos in listing.

It was the best vacation rental we have ever had! The flat was so cozy and lovingly appointed, with an incredibly generous amount of supplies. Nicole & Kurt were very pro-active in making us feel comfortable, going the extra mile to be accommodating with our special requests. The neighborhood is fantastic -- gardens, shops, pubs, live music venues, restaurants within walking distance. Truly a "crème de la crème" experience !

The Perfect Stay

Fun stay in Ballard

We had a wonderful time in Seattle and the basement suite was in a perfect location. We especially enjoyed walking to bagels and coffee down the street in the mornings. The space was clean and well thought out, with everything we needed. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Lovey home away from home in Ballard

The Hummingbird Retreat in Ballard will be the most pleasant surprise you can have while traveling. This rental has EVERYTHING you need for a great stay.It sits just blocks from Ballard’s main shopping and entertainment district. Lots of great restaurants, bars, and shops within a few minutes' walk. This area is also home to the famous Ballard Sunday Farmers Market (Don’t miss that!)Seattle’s #40 bus is less than two blocks from the apartment. That bus will take you just about anywhere in the city you’d like to go, including Pike Place Market and downtown.Nothing in this lovely one-bedroom place has been left to chance. Every little detail has been attended to. You’ll find everything you need for a weekend trip or an extended stay. A fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to fix a little something before you head out for a day of Emerald City adventuring.The space itself is cozy. It’s a basement apartment, but it doesn’t feel like it. Lots of windows at ground level to let in light. It stays nice and cool in the summer even with no AC. It has heaters for each room in case the temps dip down.Nicole and Kurt are your hosts. If it is anything like my experience, they will also be friends by the end of your trip. They take pride in their place, and it really shines through. Ask, and they will do their absolute best to make it happen for you. (This personal touch is what separates this rental from so many others.)

Cozy hideaway

We really enjoyed our stay at Nicole and Kurt’s. They were very welcoming and accommodating hosts with great communication. Everything was clean and cozy and we had everything we needed for our stay. The neighborhood is pleasant and has some fun restaurant/bar options within walking distance.

This is the perfect place to come back and relax after exploring Seattle. They have all the amenities including a full kitchen to help make your stay feel like you are at home. The neighborhood is great with walkable places to eat and get drinks. Hosts are so nice and offered great suggestions!

I’m so grateful we found Kurt and Nicole’s apartment, she was so kind to leave some toys and crafts for my toddler. It was a perfectly appointed, clean, quiet. and well located unit, with everything one needs when away from home. It was also very thoughtfully decorated and within a beautiful craftsman home. Street parking was always available, and plenty of things to do nearby. Thank you for your hospitality Kurt and Nicole, we hope to be back soon!

We are a mixed American/European couple.
We love living in the PNW for its beautiful scenery from the mountains to the waters of Puget Sounds.
We love boating, hiking, cooking, walking, exploring art walks and museums, wine tasting, enjoying good food and hanging out with our 8 year old grand daughter
We are avid Short term rental travelers ourselves and have outfitted the apartment with just about everything you need and want for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
English and Dutch speaking, we enjoy hosting visitors from all over the world and have been hosting for over 12 years 😁

We love Ballard for it proximity to Down town Seattle and all the great activities it offers. The new waterfront park added to Seattle Pike Place market with new aquarium addition is our favorite place to spend an afternoon sight seeing, eating great seafood and enjoying the water and Mountain View’s. From there you can take a fun ride in the Seattle great wheel, walk to historic Pioneer Square or visit the Iconic Seattle Space needle.
Ballard itself offers access to Golden Gardens beach or Discovery Park for a fun local hike, both about a 5 minute drive from the apartment, perfect for watching our local wildlife and watching epic sunsets.
An easy 10 minute walk will lead you to the heart of Historic downtown Ballard filled with great restaurants, coffee shops, cocktail bars, shopping, ice cream shops, farmers market, local breweries and more. Enjoy a new movie release at the Majestic Bay theater or visit the Nordic Heritage Museum and learn about the history of this once Scandinavian community. All within walking distance to the home. No car needed.

Original craftsman detail makes this house a most beautiful homes on a quiet residential street.
Large private front patio with comfortable outdoor chairs and table with weeping grapevines is exclusively reserved for our guest and perfect for having breakfast/coffee in the morning or glass of wine/beer in the afternoon sun. It a favorite spot for our guest enjoying a break from all the sightseeing activities and spend a little time in peaceful setting, enjoying the fresh air when the weather is nice.

Guest have raved about the comfort and decor in the apartments. Lots of original art by Seattle artist, functional lighting to read by, fully outfitted kitchen for cooking at home and comforts like many throw blankets, games and books.

The apartment conveniently provides a small fenced side yard, accessible from the apartment front door for your dog and makes for easy potty runs late at night or early mornings.

Plenty of street parking always available right in font of home too.
