Making Memories -Situé sur marqueur de mile Roanoke R 26

Notre maison Smith Mountain Lake est situé sur une petite crique en eau profonde, qui peut être apprécié à partir de la grande terrasse ou dans le patio couvert bas. Une passerelle éclairée avec une main courante offre un accès facile au lac. A "snack Shack", les quais à deux niveaux et une grande terrasse. Il est à la fois un réfrigérateur et micro-ondes pour votre usage dans le Snack Shack. Il y a 2 kayaks, un canot et un pédalo 4 homme pour le plaisir des vacanciers. Baignade et pêche peut être apprécié à partir du quai, ainsi que les bains de soleil depuis la terrasse
     Adjacent à l'entrée de la maison du lac il y a un parc de 5 acres qui peut être utilisé pour votre plaisir. Il y a des courts de tennis, terrains de balle 2 cornichon, et de basket-ball diamant. En dehors des tribunaux, il y a un but de soccer avec amplement d'espace pour le baseball, le mauvais moufles, etc. Certains équipements se trouve dans la maison, mais les locataires doivent apporter leur propre équipement ..
Le premier étage dispose d'une cuisine entièrement équipée, avec bar. Le salon et la salle à manger regardent le lac par des portes coulissantes en verre qui ouvrent sur le pont très spacieux, entièrement meublé avec 2 tables de pique-nique avec parasols et un gril à gaz. Il y a deux chambres et une salle de bain, avec l'ouverture de la chambre principale sur le pont par des portes coulissantes en verre qui offre une belle vue sur Smith Mountain Lake. Notre maison est propice à la détente totale et amusant pour toute la famille.
Le bas est dotée d'un patio couvert de la tanière. Ce patio est amplement meublé et dispose d'une table de pique-nique et barbecue au gaz aussi. Il y a 2 chambres offrant une vue magnifique sur le lac ainsi que d'une salle de bain complète et une buanderie contenant une laveuse, sécheuse et un réfrigérateur.


Les propriétaires de fournir un canot 2 de l'homme, pédalo et p: La maison dispose de la climatisation centrale et de la chaleur. Il y a des ventilateurs de plafond dans toutes les chambres. Le propriétaire a ajouté et inclus pour le plaisir des locataires un bateau à aubes, 2 homme canot, et une table de ping-pong sur la terrasse inférieure.

It is a very good place for family, plenty of room inside and out. Beautiful view of the lake and the dock and swimming area are great. The hosts were fantastic. We enjoyed the kayaks and being in a cove means no boat traffic. We would love to go back!

Just about perfect

The only drawback I was unaware of prior to the stay was there would be no towels. The 10 min drive to Food Lion is convenient if you forget anything. Everything else was great as described, excellent communication with Jack prior to stay and flexibility for check-in. Inside the home was clean, no sign of any pests during stay. I would absolutely stay again and recommend for others.

Great location, but outdated

Perfect place for those wanting to spend more time on the water with close proximity to boat rental, restaurants, and grocery. And its a good place for those wanting to spend more time at the lakehouse.... has what you need but the place could use a good update.

Nice location and homesite

The downstairs needed some deep cleaning and bug dis infestation. Over all the home was suitable, it just needs some updates. We enjoyed our stay tho.

Nice to have a fridge, kayaks and shade at the dock. Pickle ball and basketball courts were convenient and in good shape. Steep driveway and stairs.

Very glad you took advantage of all the amenities. I always enjoy a nice paddle out to the shoals for morning fishing. The tennis courts are nice and as I get older the pickle ball doesnt beat me up like tennis. Thanks again

Great location, house in need of repairs

The floors were in desperate need of sweeping, the basement door is falling apart and won't stay open unless propped, the mattress covers need to be replaced. The location on the lake is great and close to rental facilities, but I wouldn't stay here again. Thankfully the toilets were clean.

Thank you for your input on our lake house. I have addressed the issues with the floors being swept and matteras covers with my cleaning person and she assured me the floors were swept and cleaned with hard wood floor swiffer before your weekend. We have extra matteras pads in the closet of each bedroom but you need to provide your own sheets and towels. Please have respect for the owners and don't bring your dog when not permitted. Hopefully you have better weather on your next lake visit.

Disgusting and unhygienic. Black mold. Unsafe and full of bugs and cobwebs. We had to clean it. Broken furniture. Feces smeared on upstairs toilet. Kitchen dirty and sticky. Owner ghosted us once we complained. Complained to VRBO with pictures of all our complaints. Too many to name. VRBO said owner didn’t respond to their call. Still don’t know if we’ll get refunded. Don’t book this place!!!

Not all "Making Memories" are good memories.

Kitchen was not clean. We had to clean dishes (greasy) and clean the oven. Beds were not comfortable. My 12 year old niece was climbing out of the lake and the stairs attached to the dock board pulled off. We stayed 3 nights on the 2nd night the AC quit working and stayed off until after we left 11/2 later. Although the owners seemed nice enough the property is very old. Only 2 of the smoke detectors worked. The railing going to the bottom floor was inadequate.

So sorry that your vacation at our lake house did not provide a memorable vacation time. Your complaints about the dirty dishes and pots and pans in the kitchen did not check out as credible with our housekeeper. She said that she clean the house herself and that was a non-issue. She has clean for us for the last several years and we have never had any complaints. About the ladder that came off the dock oh, so happy that no one was hurt and just hope there was not roughhousing going on with the ladder. However there was another letter on the side of the dock that could be used for climbing out of water. After checking the air conditioner we found that it had Frozen up usually due to leaving the doors opened. After closing the doors and windows and turning the fans on the air conditioner did thaw out and worked splendidly after that without having to call a service person. There is a note at the bottom of the thermostat that tells you never turn the air conditioner up more than 2 degrees at a time. Most people know this but we always like to remind Our Guest. The bed issue we can do nothing about as we just replaced all the mattresses this spring and some folks have trouble sleeping and always have trouble sleeping away from home. We hope that your next vacation at Smith Mountain Lake- in a different house other than ours will work out for you.

Perfect Weekend Stay!

We did a long weekend at Making Memories and the whole experience was amazing! The location is great for a group: the cove allowed us to all float in tubes, or scoot around on the Wimmer's paddle boat. We rented a boat and jet ski through Captains Quarters and it was only moments drive away (by boat) and maybe 10/15 minutes by car. The best day was really staying at the dock, taking turns on the jet ski or just swimming around. The house layout was perfect for 4 couples with 2 bedrooms and one bath upstairs and 2 bedrooms and one bath downstairs. It was a hot weekend but the A/C and ceiling fans kept us very comfortable while inside. The kitchen was fully stocked and we cooked all of our meals in the house. I gave 3 stars for cleanliness simply because it is what it is: a lakehouse! We expect some bugs, some debris, nothing was offensive and it worked for us. I would might be a little cautious with bringing younger children as there are a lot of stairs and an open staircase to the basement. For an adult get-together, it was great and we hope to return every summer! If I had a question, Ann responded quickly and was super kind. Checkin and checkout was a breeze. Thanks for all the wonderful memories!

Peaceful cabin

Great trip w/ my husband, 2 kids, & dog. Contacted owner 48 hrs before the trip to make sure it was ok to book & were told yes, confirmed next day. Put the boat in & parked truck on Thurs night, didn’t have to get in the truck again until heading home tues. Took boat to coffee,dinners,ice cream, etc. Full kitchen at the house w/ everything we needed to make meals. The house is in a wooded, secluded location which we much preferred over the more open areas of the lake. The cove is very calm/peaceful & we were able to fish, swim, & relax off the dock. We rent 5+ rentals a year & I’ve never posted a complaint before, but I tried to discuss this w/ the owner & was dismissed. House was filthy. Kitchen floors had food stuck to ground, coffee stains, etc. Trash & dirty socks poking out from beds. Dead bugs on bathroom counter/floor. Pill on couch. Random nails,tools,etc in the house. Leaf blower at kitchen table, maybe so we could blow off the deck, which was too dirty to sit on. I contacted the owner immediately & he said was sorry for food in the fridge, but he swiffered the floors himself & it was clean. No. It was disgusting. House has a cleaning fee, so I expected the house to be clean. If the house is not getting cleaned, there should be no cleaning fee, & we also would not have stayed there as it was not a cheap trip. Also, kayaks & pedal boat are just on the ground outside, one filled with water, the others with spiders & bugs & not usable.

Accommodated guests by placing vacation home on 72 hour hold 48 hours before arrival on the Holiday weekend. Acted in good faith to allow extra time while guest having boat maintenance problems. After finalizing reservation allowed early check-in The entire home was cleaned from top to bottom before guest arrival. Unfortunately 4 items were left on top of shelf of bleached refrigerator upon guest arrival . Housekeeper was going to place the items in there cooler before leaving. The guest sent us pictures of the items along with her food already unpacked so I did not interpret as a problem. No dirty clothes or bugs in the floor the house is on a wooded lot so leaves are to be expected from time to time. We leave a small electric leaf blower to blow off the decks and docks while visiting but there is a broom if you prefer that method. After offering our home for many years this guest will not be welcomed again.

Guest beware!!

As with the last reviewer (who checked out 2 days before we arrived), we found the house extremely dirty. Upon entering my son immediately knocked down cobwebs throughout while my husband swept and mopped the floors We felt the need to wash anything we were about to consume food or drink from. The dishes and cabinets had bugs throughout. Dirt and debris consisting of water bottles and used tissues for example were found under every bed in the house. Dirty doors, lampshades, curtains…the list of downright filth goes on and on. This home is not sanitary and in need of a thorough top to bottom professional cleaning. I reached out to the owner letting her know the cleaner was doing her a disservice, but she denied my claims even after the series of pictures I sent saying they had been there and everything was in great condition. This family is in total denial, going as far as accusing me of scamming them for the cleaning deposit and merely copying the previous review. Unfortunately the capability of sharing photos here is nonexistent. I also stated the dishwasher wasn’t working (which of course I realized after it was full and ready to be run), the upper deck rail is compromised, which is potentially dangerous and of a suspected electrical problem.They believed none of it. There was no indication in the listing there isn’t trash pickup. A directive posted on the refrigerator informed us where the dump was located and that we needed to take the trash there ourselves.

It has become apparent from feedback from renters that the house is not getting cleaned to our standards . We have switched cleaning services and will monitor the cleanliness of the house to make sure our home is clean before arrivals. The home is structurally sound and we are always investing back into our lake home to give our guests a great experience. Unfortunately there is not a trash service but you pass a disposal station leaving the area and we provide heavy duty construction bags .

We brought our boat and enjoyed a week in July. Quiet cove excellent for swimming and great location on the lake. House is as described, dated but functional. Rear of house faces north so you’re in shade most of the time on the rear porches, which I think was nice.

My family and I very much enjoyed our stay and the location and view were amazing. The upper level of the house was very nice, the lower level was was very dated but supplied extra space for our family. The docks were great for the kids to fish off of and dock our boats. The only drawback was that they don’t allow us to bring our dog.

Overall, we had a good experience at this property. The view from the lake house was great and we also enjoyed the dock and floating dock - including the fun jump off from the sun deck dock! The location of the cove was convenient and private. There was a tree in the way of where it looked like we should have docked our boat, but it worked out because we could tie to the other side. My biggest concern was the beds, they were not very comfortable and quite squeaky. We also did not realize this property did not include sheets or bath towels - which is fine, but I wish it was more apparent on the description, so we could have brought our own. The grill also appeared to be leaking gas, so we were not able to use that either. The core of the place was quite nice, but I think some updates would make it even better.

Great Location

It was nice being on a cove off the main waterway. Thoroughly enjoyed the dock, paddleboat and kayak. We also brought our paddle boards and were able to fish off the dock.

Jack and I live in Salem ,VA We are both retired. I am a school teacher and Jack is an Electrical Engineer. We have 3 children and along with their Dad all have graduated from Virginia Tech. The family has always enjoyed playing in the Sun outdoors and the close proximity to Roanoke attracted us.

We bought this property and built the house . It was a family project for our family adding additions yearly. High point subdivisions have spacious lots on deep water coves .A wooded ridge is across from our home that will never be built upon .It is close enough to the main channel of the lake and Hales Ford Bridge but the cove is secluded for enjoying some serenity.

House is located on a quiet cove, with a spectacular view. It is very conducive to relaxation and we sometimes find ourselves sitting on the deck each morning for a couple of hours with our coffee. Along with our water toys, (canoe, kayaks, pedal boat) there are tennis courts, pickle ball court and a large park for games.
