Welcome to 124 Hiawatha Lower Unit- Avalon Home

This property features a completely unobstructed ocean view from the living room. Watch parasailers take flight, yachts tie up to moorings, cruise ships ferry passengers, and tour boats come and go from the green pier. The living room also features a new 55” smart TV and a queen size sleeper sofa.

The master bedroom has a California King Bed that faces the ocean. Early birds will love watching the sunrise over the water. Night owls will prefer watching the moonlight reflect on the Harbor.

QUIET HOURS: 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. (use of outdoor areas strictly prohibited).

Had a great time in Catalina and this property was perfect for our family of four. Everything went smoothly with the reservation. The pinned location on the VRBO map was actually the management office, not the property. Make sure you map 124 Hiawatha to see the actual location of where you'll be staying. I point this out because it is about a quarter mile walk up a very steep hill to get back from the downtown area. This was not a problem for us, but could be for others with any physical limitations. There is a golf cart available which we used every day. Street parking was readily available during the less busy Christmas time we visited. Not sure how available parking would be during peak times.

Great view, comfortable and pretty close to the main drag, especially given the view. The golf cart is a big plus, but only holds 4 people, although the lodging holds 6.

Nice place, up a step hill for great views.It would be a huge help for travelers if luggage could be stored in outside closet on the front & end of stay. Also would be good to provide written info on golf cart ( only 1 gas station in town)

Beautiful view above Avalon Harbor in a quieter neighborhood but still close enough to walk to the action. Having a golf cart available at all times was great. We put it to good use exploring the town and surrounding environs

Fantastic view of the harbor and the golf cart. Let us travel extensively for three days. The golf cart made everything worth it. That being said, just like all the other reviews have already stated, this house is not clean. It’s not horrible. The furniture didn’t look like the picture, it had covers over chairs and the couch. But you definitely wanna wipe down surfaces, all of them, on your own before you move in. Might want to get your own shower curtain too. Honestly, I would get this place again for the golf cart. Some guests might want to know that this is not handicap accessible, and there are several uneven steps to get to the front door. For us, this was charming. And I absolutely loved the tabby cat, who greeted us every time we came home and had his little food and water dish outside. There was a bag of cat food sitting in the cupboard that we expect was for us to refill his bowl. Upstairs is another rental property so if you have jumping kids, that is what it is. Again, I would get this place in the future, for the golf cart, view, cat, and wonderfully responsive property managers. They even allowed us to get into the rental a little early before check-in time and quickly answered all our questions by text. The water was hot, but low pressure. Both mattresses were comfortable. Sheets and towels were certainly clean.

Great place to stay except for the cat outside and responsibility or guilt of having to feed it and give it water. My daughter is allergic so this was not ideal. Having the golf cart was such a bonus.

I thought VRBO standards were/ are that when you rent a place, you have the whole place. That wasn't the case.There are 3 units to this property, and unit 1 is in the process of being renovated. So each morning, we'd make our coffee and go outside and sit on the patio in our pajamas. Every morning a man would show up, set up his saw on the work bench within a few feet of us and begin his day of remodeling unit 1. This happened all 3 mornings. So I don't feel like we actually had the privacy and the peace that we promised. It wasn't just the saw, it was hammering and everything that goes along with a renovation. Property manager unresponsive to the issue.Also supplies are limited. We had to pickup toilet paper, not a big deal, but something that should have been furnished. Catalina Island is beautiful and September is the perfect time to visit.Golf cart is great but in need of repair. Brakes need attention, cart runs rough, as if there's water in the fuel. Driver's seat belt is frayed and not safe. If you are coming from the boat, take the taxi because there's a chance your family and your luggage won't fit on the cart. The hill is a tad steep.

Great place. The golf cart was useful and fun. Comfortable beds and clean towels. If you are not comfortable climbing the steep hills walking from the ferry consider arranging a ride to the residence.

We absolutely loved our stay! The place was beautiful and came with a golf cart, which was definitely a necessity for getting around easily. Check-in was smooth, and communication with the hosts was quick and easy the whole time. The view of the water was stunning, such a peaceful spot to relax. The only issue we ran into was the Wi-Fi being a little spotty, but everything else made up for it. Would definitely stay here again!

Cute!

Cute place with an amazing view. We had everything we needed, loved having the golf cart, and had a wonderful stay. The linens and dishes and overall appearance was clean, but the property could definitely use a deep cleaning.

It was nice, but there were a bunch of teenagers staying in the place upstairs and we could hear every time they moved around. They were coming and going at odd hours.

Great experience staying here

We were really pleased with our experience with this property. Lots of pluses -- having use of the golf cart was fantastic! The property manager was really responsive and allowed for both an early check-in and a late check-out, which were both hugely helpful and appreciated. The condo was the perfect size for our family of four and allowed our older son his own room (younger was on the pull-out couch). More than four people staying in the condo would be cramped though. The foldout couch is really only a good solution for a younger kid. A few minor minuses that in no way caused for a negative experience, but I wasn't pleased to be asked to empty all the trash cans, as that seems like something that should be covered by the housekeeping fee.The sheets for the pullout couch had been left dirty and crumpled in the closet, but we appreciated that the property manager had fresh sheets delivered right away when we called about it. I recommend staying here and would return!

Decent stay, but nothing incredible. Only worth it for the golf cart.

It was a nice place that served our needs but it was very, and I mean very, cramped. We had 6 people staying which shouldn’t be a big deal but the 7” living room ceiling made us feel boxed in the whole time. There was no ac either which did not make for a fun time cooling down. Also, they will ask you to do your dishes before you leave, which is fine, but don’t provide any dishwasher detergent. So you need to buy some or do by hand w/soap
that also wasn’t provided. There were also dirty dishes in the dishwasher from the last tenant. That being said, it was a decent stay otherwise and the golf cart was a godsend! If you don’t mind walking or have many activities plan I’d recommend another location. Property management company was very responsive and pleasant!

Everything was awesome. The view was amazing. Nice location, great perk with the golf cart, had everything we needed in the home as well. Already recommended to family and friends. Would definitely rebook if we return to the island.

Great location & Golf Cart!

We loved our stay, the location was perfect and the use of the golf cart was a huge bonus! The style of the cottage is very beachy & cozy, but the unit needs a little detailing. It's time for a new sleeper sofa. It's just way too old with a stained mattress, and it's starting to bow down near the head. Not at all usable. Also the sofa frame is all ripped up and dirty, has a cheap cover over it. Which was also dirty. The cheap covers on the swivel chairs need an update as well. The kitchen needs a deep clean inside the cabinets. New linens and comforter is also needed for the sleeper sofa. We found a very very old quilt to use, not very clean. Also an extremely old throw blanket. It was as if they were not prepared with proper bedding for the sofa bed. Adults would not be comfortable at ALL on the sleeper sofa. Thankfully our 15 year old was ok with it. Small window leak in the large bathroom, the paint behind the toilet is starting to bubble because of it. The location was great, and the view is amazing, we really enjoyed that... and everything worked perfectly. Just a little TLC overall is needed, and definitely a new sofa.

Christmas in Avalon

As advertised, great location, close to town, yet quiet. Excellent communication and check-in from the manager. Our only gripe was cleanliness-marginal. The oven was dirty, the kitchen drawers and cabinets were disorganized and not clean. I would not plan to cook from this unit, lots of great restaurants though. An easy fix.
