A very nice place. Master Bed mattress was horribly uncomfortable. Left a day early to go home and get some sleep. House/location... Great. Would stay here again. Great wrap around deck with fabulous views. Mattress is ONLY negative.

Access to the beach was fantastic. When we arrived, the house was 81 degrees. 4 hours later it was still 81. Once we spoke with Kevin, he had someone come the next morning to fix it. The house was dirty. My daughter called it crusty. The floor was so dirty, the bottoms of our feet were black. We mopped the floor ourselves. It took 2 times around to get the floor clean. The place was very outdated. The master bathroom was very old and “crusty”. In the kitchen there were only 7 forks and 6 of us. We just kept washing them. There were 2 microwaves. We picked the wrong one to use the first time and the smell of burnt rubber filled the air (put a sign “do not use”). We like to cook with a family of 6. The pots and pans were so old, they were made with teflon that was scratched up and coming off. They all needed to be thrown away. We did not want to use them. I would not rent this house again. For what we paid to rent, it was not worth the money.

Went for a long weekend with our family. Had a wonderful time. Home was nice could use some updates and freshing up but all and all a wonderful home for families. Everything there we needed. Beach was great, views were beautiful.

Nothing beats a beach front!

Great house, great location! Minutes away from the old town and right on the sand. Nothing like waking up and have a cup of coffee looking at the ocean!

Amazing property with all families need for a laid back beach vacation. I had my daughter's and son with their families and it was awesome. Comfy beds, 2 fridges space to be together and space to be in groups.We bought more forks for use with dinners but that is minor. Dishwasher could have worked better.

Perfect for Watching the Waves

My family and I absolutely loved this location. Our 2 day stay was not long enough. sitting on the deck for both sunrise and sunset was amazing. the arrangement of the rooms was perfect for our large family aging 18 up to 83. private areas for us older folk with shared areas for the "kids" to hang out together. the management team was very prompt and accommodating to all of our requests and concerns. Can't wait to go back!

This beach house was in a perfect location on the beach. But the house needs a lot of work.

My family left earlier because the air conditioner for downstairs wasn’t working properly very hot. They also all had to use my shower because the water wasn’t flowing properly very slow. They only stayed one night . My check out was Wednesday at 11 we left my husband and I Tuesday evening after we cleaned everything. Sitting on the porch was wonderful. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done. I was sad to see such a beautiful setting on the beach but it’s falling apart.

We enjoyed our stay. Great location on the beach and so close to the sand. Check-in process could've been much smoother. The house felt like it could also have been a bit cleaner, but the longer we stayed there the more we appreciated what the home had to offer. We would consider coming back.

Great stay

My husband and I stay here for a weekend with my mother-n-law and 6 teenagers. We all fit very nicely. The house has 3 bedrooms with doors, a loft with a twin bed, and a bunk bed that has a twin on top and a full on the bottom. The lower level of the house has another bunk bed with a twin on the top and a full on the bottom. There were a total of three bathrooms, which was plenty for our family. The house has nicely updated kitchen area. All of the beds were very comfortable. If you have a large group, I do recommend this house.

We were told to keep the AC between 72-78 the heat was unbearable with heat advisories. We did attempt to turn it down and through the Nest they would increase the temp. Railings aren’t up to code way upstairs. Just was not very family friendly or good with people who struggle with heat

Great location, beautiful house. Some updates needed

The house is beautiful and location is amazing right on the beach. Listing actually didn't show the bunk bed in the basement so we were pleasantly surprised. So there were 1King, 2 Queens, 2 bunk beds, and 1 twins. The top floor does not have full height walls, so if anyone snores the whole 2nd & 3rd floors will hear it. The bathroom on 3rd floor also needs some updating - the shower has very low pressure, and the sinks have a sewage smell, possibly a dirty P-trap or just septic tank. Otherwise great house.

This is the first negative review I have ever written, but I feel compelled to warn others. What was supposed to be a nice family trip for my Wife, Grandparents, Kids, and I turned into a nightmare. Rent this property at your own risk.The house had a strong musty odor, likely from the upstairs carpet, which needs cleaning or replacement. We repeatedly found what appeared to be rodent droppings in the upstairs bunk area. The side and back yards were full of sand spurs, and the backyard was littered with pet waste from previous guests. Inside, the fly problem was overwhelming. The downstairs AC did not work for most of our stay, leaving the house hot and uncomfortable. Water pressure in the showers was nearly nonexistent, both downstairs hoses were broken, half the wall outlets and a ceiling fan didn’t work, and the garage was disorganized and infested with bugs.While Five Star Vacation Rentals made halfhearted attempts to address issues, the house was beyond repair. I spent most of our vacation acting as an on-site property manager, constantly contacting them, yet management never visited. Their “solution” to the fly infestation was to Instacart us fly swatters. Conditions were so unbearable that we cut our trip short. Management agreed to a 50% refund, but over a month later my card was charged the full remaining balance and no discount was applied. Pretty Par for the course I guess. One word: HORRIBLE.

It’s a wonderful location and as long as you stay on the deck you will have a wonderful time. But you do need to sleep, eat, and socialize inside which is where all the problems begin. One this is a three bedroom and not a 5 bedroom house. The bunk bed rooms are in open spaces. The basement is awful, beds had pee stains and mold on the ceiling. None of the doors work as designed. This is not the house for any one with knee issues as you will climb stairs a lot. The interaction with the host will be with the rental agency who send you dozens of emails of which half of the information is for another location. Long story short. We will not stay again and would not have picked this place if we had the chance for a walk through. Not worth the price.

Not as expected

The location was great. The house needs a lot of TLC. The house appears to be old. Decor and upgrades were nice, but there were a lot of issues. Outside showers were three water hoses, two of which were busted. The beach items were all tossed on the bottom area, in a corner outside, many unusable. Apparent mold near multiple air vents. WIFI never worked. Limited glassware. Dishes and glassware in cabinets were dirty. Dishwasher doesn’t clean properly. On our first morning the Keurig wasn’t working. The property manager responded quickly and provided a new one a few hours later, but we were able to clean and fix the existing one earlier. Only three wash cloths and there were nine of us. Again the property manager responded with several new ones. Very old pots and pans, which all need replaced. Rug in main area has several rolled up places which caused many tripping issues. We endured it all and had a good time regardless. The area was nice.

Would Buy This Property

We had an absol amazing time! Some context-we are vacation rental pros, so we know what to expect, what to look for before booking, how to verify reviews, etc. Who-My husband & me, our married mid 20's daughter & her husband & two late teen daughters. Why-Family Vacay Pros-The space was perfect, plenty of rooms & bathrooms. Excellent deck, good size living room & kitchen. Firepit (when the July night got cool enough 😊) and LITETALLY THE PERFECT BEACH. I could have sat out there with my book all day. Great location-we walked the beach to get coffee every day, but we were far enough from public beaches to avoid crowds & spill over people. Easy drive to stores & historic downtown. Close to JAX Int'l Airport, internet, TV, books & plenty of blankets. *We read a review about air conditioner issues-as of July 2024 that was NOT an issue. The air conditioner was updated & we had no problem controlling the indoor temps. Do not let that be a potential deterrent!* Cons-Bit of miscommunication upfront & not getting the code to get in. It was sorted relatively quickly & we appreciated the follow up from the property manager. No umbrella for the beach-BUT, hit the Publix a mile away and buy a $15 beach chair or two, $30 umbrella & $10 sand corkscrew & enjoy the beach all day for less than $100! (Then leave it behind for the next guests!) All in all, we decided we'd buy this house if we had that kind of disposable income (lol) because everything was all we hoped for! Book it!!!

Worked out better than we planned

I was very worried when I read the online reviews for this property. The communication with the property management company was challenging, but eventually I did get most of my questions answered. The check-out instructions were a little confusing as there is one set in the house but a different set in email. Some of the outlets didn't work and the windows are definitely an issue. The stove needs work as it randomly would turn on if you barely brushed the knobs. A few times we almost got burned. The Nest thermostat is also a little wonky. Sometimes it would just turn itself down. Overall though, I would stay in the home again. The view can't be beat and the location is so close to all of the St. Augustine attractions. Some of the beds, bedrooms, and bathrooms are a little funky set up-wise but the space is well used so you do not feel like there is wasted areas. We had 13 in our party and were all able to fit. We packed air mattresses and had no issues finding room for them. There were plenty of dishes for us and the pantry is a great size. The extra refrigerator downstairs was very helpful. The recent hurricanes that eroded the beach have actually made this more of a beachfront property than it was before. There were crews out multiple times through our stay to grade the beach so it was very easy to walk on. We learned that sometimes it is best to see things for yourself before judging based on reviews.

In much worse shape than the listing pictures

This place was disappointing for a lot of reasons, and we came in with open minds based on past reviews. The location and space of a beach house was what saved our stay, but it was visibly dirty upon arrival with soiled sheets on the beds and hair in the showers. It also had visible black mold in the ceiling of the master bathroom and had rodents or something eating our food in the pantry. There was exposed wiring and chipped paint throughout the house. A lot of the blinds were dirty, broken or missing, windows didn't open and shut properly or had duct tape holding them shut. Even with the cleaners coming during our stay, the doors were still sticky and had fingerprints, the air ducts were filthy and I have pictures of if all if VRBO would like to see. This whole house is really in bad condition, especially when compared to the high quality of what the pictures show. We loved the location but for the price could have gotten a similar space and not had to clean the house ourselves just to get comfortable. The Five Star Rental company which runs this listing, once I could get a hold of them, was helpful in supplying new shower curtains as ours were moldy, and other basic supplies, but as mentioned, these issues are much bigger than that. I hope someone comes and gives this place the love and care it needs and deserves.

Not what we expected…

I wasn’t going to write this all on a public review, but when I shared my concerns below privately, I heard absolutely nothing back from owner or mgmt group. 1. The description says nothing about the bedroom walls not actually going all the at to the ceiling upstairs- same with the bathroom. 2. Location is top notch 3. Master bed had stained sheets and they were completely ripped on the side. 4. Old nicotine pouches and other peoples trash were left in closets, drawers etc 5. The porch screen door was almost completely blown off when we arrived- it became completely detached that night from the wind. 6. Nothing is said about how you sometimes don’t have any water- at all. No water pressure. 7. The shade in the downstairs “room” was half ripped off and being held on by tape. 8. Downstairs the toilet is only made private by a curtain on a rod. 9. The weatherproofing on the bottom of the door at the entrance is half ripped off and creates a loud wind tunnel whenever the wind blows 10. The door near the refrigerator is inoperable and won’t turn 11. Great beach stuff available for use I’ve never written a bad review on one of these, but this listing was very deceiving. The house needs a lot of work just to get it to a place where things are running normally. Great location, Not was I was expecting unfortunately.

To start, the view is spectacular!!! The deck is great! Everything else went downhill quickly. When you fist walk into the house the floor is warped. The front door doesn't open all the way. We didn't use the downstairs beds and we couldn't use the ping pong table because the paddles were garbage and there were no ping pong balls! All the locks on all the bathrooms didn't work as I walked in on my Mother In Law going to the bathroom. We also quickly found out that there were some towels ready for our use. Luckily I found a bag of towels in the laundry & washed a load for us. Using the dishwasher was an adventure. The first night we went to use it, it didn't completely run. So we ran it again. It didn't clean the top rack so we had to wash those by hand. None of the beach stuff was clean. The chairs were in their bags. The outside shower worked, but the hose on the ground level did not. I got the hose on the deck to work after i unraveled all the kinks out of it. The main level rooms were nice, but the upper room had no fan and no walls that went to the ceiling? And in the Bathroom too? If anyone stays at this house it's for one reason only, the proximity to the ocean. That's the only reason. We expected a little more luxury for the price. The plates, folks & such were worn. The pots & pans were old. There was a dirty sponge left for us to use. And we feel someone was messing with the A/C from outside the home.

Disappointing. Be aware of what your getting into.

There were some major issues that the rental company did take care of quickly (no water, door not able to be secured, hole in decking due to popped plank, garbage left in trash cans . It's a great location. The rental staff were attentive, but overall the house needs alot of attention. Now, this rental is trashed. Dirty beyond what a cleaner can overcome. The windows on the main floor are literally falling out. I had to purchase duct tape and tape up the gaps to keep bugs/rain/hot air out. Trash piled in the back of the home near seating area (busted chairs, umbrellas, etc.) There are outlets and lights/ceiling fans that do not operate, so clearly some electrical issues here. The lower level floor is hot and basically unusable. There is a useless area on the lower level, a valuable space that could benefit from a few chairs and a TV for an extra entertainment area. The shower on the lower level is extremely moldy. There is a curtain that hides the toilet. The main floor of the house is a bit better, but that is where the windows are very bad, literally falling out if you remove my duct tape. Don't even think about opening them. The furniture and large rug are gross. These things need to be changed or deep cleaned yearly. I understand the wear and tear on a rental, but this was unacceptable. Overall we were quite disappointed.

Very disappointed

Not enough glasses for everyone. No big skillets, only 1 sm one for 11 people. Cooking BK was a joke, it took for ever. $2000 can up missing out of the house, they had people coming in to fix things and I didn’t know anything about it. 2 male workers came in on my disabled grandchild and my elderly sister. My sister was still in her pjs, scared my grandchild so bad the rest of they stay we had a hard time with her. She was. Afraid of getting killed. Picture showed a straight out walk to beach. FALSE PICTURE. I chose this house because of that picture and the needs of my grandchild. She has trouble with stairs. We got her down there one day. I would have rented one with a swimming pool but I thought this house was perfect for her. I don’t know how it sleeps 15. We had trouble with 11. It’s a good this 2 couples couldn’t go, we would have had to get air mattress. Water smelled like rotten eggs, so when you rinse off you smell like rotten eggs. Sent an email the. 1st day about glasses, water hose busted & no net for ping pong table. Never heard anything. Got a call 3 days later and again addressed my concerns. Don’t know if money was missing then. They said they had brought the net and put it on the ping pong table. We never got it, and again someone was in the house we rented without my permission. I don’t know about anyone else,but I expect my things to be safe when I am not there. I just wanted my dying grandchild to have a great time, and she didn’t. Not what you payfor
