Piper Haus Chalet Unit 1

Piper Haus is a classic, cozy ski cabin for a large group of friends or family. We're one of the largest chalets at Big Powderhorn Mountain. The Piper Haus has two, separate units (this listing is for Unit 1 only), each with 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, its own kitchen with cookware, flat screen, and wifi. Each side also has its own hot tub, sauna, and indoor fireplace. (Hot tub and fireplace usable Sept-April.) The two units share the deck, grill, yard, and outdoor fire pit. Unit 1 has a bonus room (in addition to the 6 listed) with a double bed, but without windows.

We are right across the street from Big Powderhorn Mountain, only 15-minutes from Blackjack Mountain and Indian Head Mountain, 1 hour from Porcupine Mountain State Park, 35 minutes from the Whitecap Mountains, 35 minutes to the spectacular waterfalls along the Presque Isle River, 18 minutes to sandy (and often empty) beaches on Lake Superior's Black River Harbor, and 10 minutes to Copper Peak. Snowmobile Trails, Snowshoeing, Cross-country skiing, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and ATV trails are all close by.

Regardless of the season, natural beauty and outdoor adventure are all around Piper Haus. Hit the well-known highlights, or find your own hidden treasures.

Fireplace was an amenity for sure as was the hot tub and sauna. The smell of the house was a bit musty which is why I didnt give it a 5-star.

Plenty of beds and bathrooms for a big group. If you plan on spending alot of time at the house, the seating is a little cramped for large groups but there are multiple gathering places. Hot tub was clean and a very nice added perk. Host was responsive and checked in with us to see if there was anything we needed. Great stay!!!

Cozy Ski Cabin!

Booked this place for a long weekend ski trip with family. It comfortably slept 13 people, price was very reasonable, and communication was incredible. The property was very clean and cozy. Perfect place to stay in Powderhorn Village!

Ski Trip Fun

This was a wonderful house with lots of beds and bedrooms to house everyone. We enjoyed coming back from skiing each day and relaxing in the hot tub and sauna. We’ll be back!

Hidden treasure

We booked this property in very short notice and afraid about the accuracy. But when we reached there, we were happy that we picked an excellent one. Host was reachable all the times and property had been located vert close to lot of scenic places and especially Copper peak site. We love to visit this place and stay in this property again during fall.

Waterfall vacation

We stayed at Piper Haus for an extended weekend with family. It was comfortable for 7 adults with enough bedrooms and bathrooms. It was a great central location for multiple day trips.

UTV ride

We had 15 adults and 2 children stay from Monday to Thursday we rode during the day and came back to Piper house for dinner in the evening all had a great time the large deck was beautiful. We did use the fire pit also. We rented both sides piper house 1 and 2 most couples had there own rooms it was great.

Really good time

This property is awesome - everybody (ages 12 to 75) in our group had a great time - the layout is really nice with the hot tub & sauna on the bottom floor with access to the outdoors and bedrooms for the teens down the corridor. All bedrooms were clean, tidy and nicely laid out for travelers. Bathrooms spotless and totally updated. Wi-fi perfect. The kitchen is on the main level where there is a lovely fireplace (firewood included) and great views. Kitchen is small but totally manageable and had everything we needed. Can’t find any fault at all for Piper Haus 1.

Enjoyed our stay!

Property was as described in listing. The unit was big enough for our entire family plus extra room! The location was perfect for the family events that was being held in the area. The unit was clean and we would definitely stay here again! We had one issue with the circuit breaker popping. We text the host and immediately received a response. The issue was resolved and didn’t happen again. Thank you to our hosts for everything! Our family enjoyed our stay!

We came up for a weekend of skiing, the place was perfect for our group. Very clean and accurate post. Perfect distance from Ski hills. We loved having the hot tub and sauna for after our skiing.

Exactly what we expected

Paul was a great host. The accommodations were exactly as described in the listing. Like most homes at powderhorn accommodations are dated, but that is expected and part of the charm. The common areas in this particular home are small, but the number of bedrooms makes up for it. We had six adults and nine children ranging from 15 to 9 years old. Everyone had a bed to sleep in. Plan for a small kitchen. It helps to have a cooler outside in winter. There is a small refrigerator in the basement by the hot tub that is helpful. I would definitely recommend this home to future guests.

Great Getaway

We had a wonderful stay! The Piper Haus had plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our two families of 4 who stayed. With a few to spare! The sauna and hot tub were so welcome after a day on the ski hill! The fireplace in the living room was stacked with wood and ready for our stay. The snacks and drinks left for us made it feel like home(: thank you so much! Emily and Peter were wonderful hosts! Very accommodating and communicated checking in on us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. We would stay here again!

Ski weekend

We were supposed to have 15 people, but do unforeseen circumstances only 10 were able to come. Great location right next to the slopes. Plenty of room for sleeping. Living area was a little small for tradition of game night after skiing. Still made do and had a great time.

Very clean, cozy and warm. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Awesome views of Powderhorn.

The owners Mike and Carrie were great. We are really glad we opted for this large rental as the weather was too cold to ski during part of our stay and we ended spending more time indoors than expected. Yes, the kitchen is small, but the unit was well maintained and felt very homey.

Great Place, Wonderful Owners.

I rented this property for a snowmobile trip that seven friends and I take annually. We have been to the area before and always recommend the Powderhorn area a one that is quiet and relaxing, yet close enough to town if you need anything. The house was great and more than enough rooms and bathrooms for everyone. The only downside (which we knew going into it) that was different from other properties we've stayed at was no dryer. Having an onsite dryer is nice to freshen up all the riding gear. That is not a negative reflection of the property itself or the owners though. The owners let us know exactly where the closest laundromat was and was very responsive to any other questions we had.

Great house close to the hill for big group

We came to enjoy winter weather, skiing and to celebrate New Year eve. We got everything we hoped for. House was spacious enough for 10 people in our group. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms on all 3 levels of the house. Sauna and hot tub at the lover level offered nice relaxation after day of skiing. Hot tub was on a colder side sometimes but the owner came to fix it right away. In general communication to owners was very easy and effective. They went above and beyond to answer all our questions and satisfy all our needs. Location of the house is perfect. Very close to everything. We would definitely come here again
