We have rented a lot of places over the years, and this log cabin is probably my favorite. The place looks even better than the pics. Beyond being comfortable, there were a handful of small things that are easy to overlook but really made the weekend special, including having plenty of firewood, tons of hooks to hang up clothes after skiing (including a glove warmer and a wholly separate mud room to store equipment), and a record player with a good selection of albums. If you are skiing, it is a short three minute drive to the parking lots at Wintergreen (due to the steepness of the road and a ton of snow and ice plowed on the side of the road, it isn’t really within walking distance, but it is a super short car ride). Despite the fact that we were there during a freakishly cold spell with a lot of snow and ice, the driveway was plowed and it was easy to get in and out.I have stayed in 20 weekend rentals over the last 5-10 years, and this is the one I am most interested in returning to.

Super adorable cabin with the perfect amount of space for our girls trip. Fireplace was fantastic. Kitchen was well stocked and plenty of towels. Beds were super comfortable. Overall a wonderful weekend away!

Fantastic cabin! Great location in Wintergreen on quiet street. Minutes from the resort and restaurants. The cabin is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable weekend away. Owners created an amazing ambience in every room. One of the best vacation rentals we have seen in more than 20 years of travel.

What an amazing cabin. Peter’s place has everything you could ask for. There’s plenty of very comfortable beds with beautifully designed bedrooms. The house is decorated perfectly, with antiques sprinkled throughout. The house is stocked, including very nice linens/towels that are soft and full. The location is within the Wintergreen Resort, placed perfectly high in the mountains. They are right around the corner from the Market which has a fine assortment of different groceries/supplies. I recommend downloading the Wintergreen Resort app to order food that can be delivered, such a help (and the food was so delicious). The community is quiet and clean. In the backyard of Joy Cabin there is direct access to a hiking trail with appropriate markers to help navigate your hike. Peter was very easy to communicate with and helpful with all of my questions. I highly recommend staying here; I bet it’s even more beautiful in the fall and a wonderland in the winter. If you were hesitant on staying here, take it from my family, do it!! It’s amazing!

Perfect mountain getaway

Loved every aspect of this quaint cabin in the mountains. Easy access with circular drive. Front porch and rockers were a hit even though cold for morning coffee. Living room fireplace was cozy and warm. Beds were comfy and kitchen is well equipped. Easy to hit the trails and quick access to several local breweries. Owner was easy to communicate with and responsive. Highly recommend Joy Cabin!

Spring Cabin Stay

We loved this property! It was so cozy and welcoming and had so many amenities. Everything was well thought through and wonderful. We had two families - 4 adults and 5 boys under the age of 12. Wandering the woods in the back was their favorite. That and s'mores.

Ski Weekend

Our family really enjoyed staying at this cabin. The kitchen is well equipped and the themed decor adds to the cozy charm of the cabin. We enjoyed making a fire both evenings. We’d definitely stay here again.

Cabin Stay With Friends

Our group of 8, long-time friends shared a wonderful get-away weekend at Joy Cabin. The weather outside was less than ideal, but that didn't matter, because we made good use of the well-appointed kitchen, the terrific fireplace, and all the charm the cabin has to offer. We'll be back!

Perfect Mountain Getaway

Lovely Cabin in Wintergreen

Cabin was absolutely charming! Comfortable, well stocked kitchen, and a great location. The cabin was decorated for Christmas which was a lovely surprise and added an extra special touch to our stay. Communication with owner was excellent, rental was as advertised. Will visit again!

Much needed escape

Can’t say enough about this fantastic cabin! I’ve never stayed at a home w such a well appointed kitchen! The house was decorated beautifully and was delightfully cozy. And our best hikes were right outside our back door! Can’t wait to come back.

This cabin and setting is absolutely stunning!

This cabin is so relaxing, and beautifully decorated, you will never want to leave! I loved the reading nook near the fireplace. It has everything that you will need to cook, even true gourmet meals and baking. There are plenty of dishes, pots, bowls, serving dishes, baking sheets, etc. The chiminea area and seating out back are super cute and great for making smores and sitting around and chatting with friends. This was a perfect place for our family to gather to celebrate our son’s graduation from UVA. Thank you!!!

2 Family stay for Liberty U Commencement

Very beautiful and well appointed cabin in the mountains. We were staying in the area to attend my son's graduation ceremony. Only a 1 hour commute to Lynchburg. Another plus was only 2 steps for my 90 year old dad to climb to get into the cabin and the no stairs to downstairs bedroom. Kitchen is very well equipped for cooking. Decorations are awesome throughout cabin, beds are comfortable. Having an easy time use fireplace with supplied wood is a plus. Would stay here again very nice and comfortable cabin.

Perfect cozy cabin for a family getaway

Weekend ski trip

We had a great time on our family ski trip! Cabin was beautiful and well stocked with everything we needed. Owner was quick to respond to anything we needed or questions we had. Conveniently located a couple of minutes to ski slopes. Would stay at this cabin again!

Charming mountain retreat.

Charming, nicely appointed mountain cabin. Probably our favorite of the many we’ve rented at Wintergreen over the years. High quality linens and mattresses, nicely stocked kitchen, cozy fireplace, and lots of extras. Very friendly and responsive host. Book this property if you have the opportunity. We hope to return soon.

Birthday get away

I and my closet 5 friends really enjoyed Joy Cabin to celebrate my 41st birthday. We are all Christmas enthusiasts and were so excited to see the Christmas decor. I have traveled to many homes in wintergreen for my birthday over the years and this house by far was the most accommodating. Any thing you could possibly need this house has for you. It is extremely cozy and we all look forward to coming back next year.

Wonderful Cabin Vacation

The cabin is absolutely beautiful with incredible attention to detail. It truly felt like a home away from home. The owners even left a special dog bone for our dog! Our kids loved their room with identical day beds and a foosball table! As others have said, the kitchen is lovely and has everything you could want. The owners were very responsive and kind. We hope to go back again next year!
