HAKUNA MATATA

Our little “Hakuna Matata” is a beautiful, cozy, private 2 room mother-in-law unit.
Meaning of Hakuna Matata in Swahili is “NO WORRIES” - which is exactly what you will have “for the length of your stay”
The space
Hakuna Matata is attached to the main house (above the garage) , but is entirely private and locked off from the main house (where we live), it has it’s own separate entrance around the back of the house. There are stairs inside the unit going up to the 2nd level where you have your own bedroom, with a King bed and flat screen TV, separate living room, with a queen size pull out futon and a flat screen TV , a spa like bathroom (with oversized soaking tub as well as a rain shower), and kitchenette that includes a convection microwave with grilling features, an induction hot plate, a fridge/freezer, toaster and a sink, a fully stocked coffee/tea bar, and an awesome private deck, that runs the length of the bedroom and living rooms, where you can just hang out. There is a gas bbq grill on the deck for your personal use, as well as an outdoor heater for the cooler evenings when you want to hang out on the deck and enjoy a sundowner.

Our unit is ideally suited for a couple or a couple with 2 small children. *** PLEASE NOTE, IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR 4 ADULTS ***

During the Spring, Summer, and Fall, our backyard is for your use too (winter it is often under snow). Where you can enjoy sitting under the gazebo, reading a good book in the hammock or watching the bird and animal life, or hang around the gas fire pit, roasting marshmallows and making memories. There is a gas bbq grill out there too, in case you prefer to bbq out in the peaceful, forest surroundings . There is a beautiful landscaped back yard for you to have a game of cornhole or other yard games (they’re kept in the shed).

We have 2 bicycles for your use, with lots of bike trails close to Hakuna Matata, as well as hiking and walking trails too, with small creeks close by, all accessible without having to get in your car. Hakuna Matata is in the “Montgomery Estates” subdivision of South Lake Tahoe.

Heavenly ski resort is about 8 minutes drive away, Sierra-at-Tahoe about 20 minutes drive , the Lake / beaches are only 5 - 10 minutes drive away, and we are really close to great restaurants, bars and grocery stores.

Guest access :-
The entire unit is private and for your use only. There is a keyless entry code to enter and the code will be sent to you the morning of your check in.

Other things to note :-
The only thing not for guests, since we live in the main part of the house, is access to our deck off our living room, and our hot tub area, which will be closed off.

Please DO NOT park in front of the mailbox or our neighbors property. There is a designated parking spot for guests to park in.
Do not park on the street in winter as snow removal equipment could damage your car or have your car towed.

This is a non-smoking unit. There will be $200 charge if any evidence of Vaping / smoke / cigarette butts are found in the unit.

Due to the crazy nature of our world right now, we strongly suggest that whenever you take a trip you purchase a travel insurance to guard against unforeseen circumstances beyond ones control (fire, weather, illnesses, etc…). VRBO do offer travel insurance
