Spectacular custom built 4 bedrooms with extra bunk beds, 2.5 bath modern lakehouse. Built to take advantage of the natural landscape, the Rock Retreat was designed for comfortable luxury in a private lakeside setting. Our property has 500FT of coveted west facing sunset view shoreline with approximately 2 acres of land on pristine Boshkung Lake near Haliburton and Minden. This lakeside retreat offers plenty of opportunity to go Kayaking, Canoeing, Fishing. We provide 2 Kayaks and 1 Canoe with life jackets for your enjoyment. Newly installed swimming platform is excellent for swimming, snorkeling and even sun bathing out on the water. Large front and back decks, with glass railings, on each side of both cottages ensure full enjoyment of morning sun. Enjoy sun drenched afternoons by the lake, swimming and fishing from the dock and jaw dropping evening sunsets. Enjoy evenings around the large firepit area. Well-appointed modern kitchen with everything you need for entertaining guests. Reverse osmosis water system for the best drinking water. Open concept design with stunning views of Boshkung Lake, even from the showers. Perfect for couples and families looking to get away to the country but with modern conveniences. Includes all bedding and towels with supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap. All you need to bring is your food. BBQ with supplied propane. Epic cousins cottage at the Bond mansion

Really fun time for a group of thirtysomethings! We loved the house/architecture and made use of all the rooms. Amazing views from the living room, huge back porch, back porch, and even the master bedroom/shower! Walk down to the water was not too far, but steep, and we loved the docks. Made use of the canoe and kayak.

Memorable Family Getaway

To echo many of the other comments this cottage came as advertised. It has many beautiful finishes, and was very well equipped. We appreciated the two fridges for our family of six. Also appreciated that there were some cloth Grocery bags left in the pantry as we forgot a tote bag to take snacks, drinks and sunscreen and towels down to the lake. Loved the campfire, set up with the Adirondack chairs and stone seating! We didn’t want to leave!

Remarkable and unforgettable staying

It was our very first time to Algonquin. We enjoyed outdoor activities at the property on the first day, and stayed indoor for the last two days due to bad weather. We had lots of fun with Kayaking, canoeing, fishing, taking pictures, playing board games, playing Switch. The view of fall on the lake was fantastic. We even gave up visiting provincial parks nearby. It exactly like you enjoy painting pictures when you looked out the windows. The house warmed up quickly and evenly with floor heating and HRV. Very relaxing and comfortable staying. Definitely want to return there next year.

50th Birthday Weekend Retreat

This cottage experience lived up to its pictures and description. Overall, it was a great time and fantastic getaway ! The cottage is really nicely appointed with many amenities, including all spices and cleaning supplies, linens and towels. As well as 4 bedrooms with a den/ sitting area in the bottom level with bunk beds for use. The location is great as well, and is nicely situated on the lake, with the sun deck facing west for a beautiful sunset over the lake. Kayaks and canoes are available for use, and there is a nice sundeck on the water with new swim pad just off shore. We loved the fire pit and the supply of firewood! The only issue was the BBQ, this needs an upgrade, it struggled to get to 300 degrees. Besides this, everything was great. We would definitely come back!

The little details

The cottage and views are impressive. I won't repeat what are the positives are that others mentioned, but list a few negatives. The listing says firewood is available and I connected with the host prior to confirm. The host confirmed it wasn't available and would try to provide some, which didn't happen. This was a big reason we picked the place, and we had to find wood in the area. There is no sun umbrellas on the two decks on the water, or the two decks at the cottage, which made it a challenge to stay outside. Frankly I've never been at a cottage without these. Lastly, there are two kayaks and one canoe which is great, however there were 2 kayak paddles, one which was ok and other was broken. No canoe paddles available. I did reach out and was told there should be canoe paddles. We looked to no avail.

Great space

Beautiful space indoors and out. For us, it was a perfect combo of luxury and privacy. Although we used the stay for a romantic getaway, I can see that it would be perfect for a family. Great fishing (I caught 6 large mouth bass in 20 minutes just off the dock!) and the fire pit was a nice end of night spot. If you are not steady on your feet, then I recommend driving down to the end of the driveway and then walking around to the dock since the forest and stairs can be harder for those with accessibility issues. Indoors, the TV set up worked great and the kitchen is stocked with all the tools, tableware and gadgets you'll ever need. Just bring food. The showers are dreamy! You might lose your partner or guest for an hour since it's such a pleasure. You'll have to be OK with no A/C but our stay had low temps for August, so we did not experience full sun. I prefer windows open anyway. There's also a partially sub-grade level which is cooler and quiet, like a bunker. Great for kids or for hiding away. If it was a bit less expensive, we'd likely book it often but as it is, it is a splurge, though worth the cost as it was relaxing, beautiful, and downright swanky for the woods.

Fantastic property, with lots of space for the whole family.

This is a beautiful property, the location on Boshkung Lake is great. The check in process was seamless, and the host responded promptly when any questions were asked. The only reason this is not a 5 star rating is the lack of air conditioning. On warm summer days it can get very hot inside the house. There are fans everywhere which move the air but when the temperatures rise to high 20's or 30's the heat inside the house is very uncomfortable.

Amazing getaway

We had an amazing time. The property was gorgeous the views were breathtaking. 10 adults stayed here comfortably. Fully furnished house and kitchen. Brought my own pots and pans as I was unsure of what would be there. But nothing was needed. Like the ad says, just bring your food. The dock was beautiful with steps into the water and you can dock a boat there also just caution with the rocks. Definitely recommend this property.

Amazing Modern cottage

This was beyond our expectations! plenty of room for everyone, the lake was the perfect walk away and the views are amazing. Really so many details you would never think to have in a rental unit. it has EVERYTHING you need. Would recommend bringing water toys just to swim out further from the dock :)

The rock on boshkong

Spacious modern cottage/ home came as advertised, a couple of issues identified in other reviews again evident. Water softener settings need adjustment as coffee salty unless we used bottled water then fine. White coating on cutlery which again I assume was salt residue from dishwasher. Spectacular views from south west facing windows which I personally loved but no sunshades on windows and got quite hot in the afternoon even with the windows open esp as we had very warm weather. This also affected your ability to watch TV which was great and Bell FIBE WORKED well. And given that this is fairly new build my preference would have been for air conditioning but I realize that people would have varying opinions on this. Also the south facing deck had no shade and again was very hot at times during our stay. Also as previously identified a canoe or kayak would be a nice touch. These are all things that can be fairly easily remedied and would improve this to a 5 star rating

Great fully equipped modern style cottage, tucked away in beautiful natural setting.

Enjoyed a wonder long weekend getaway at this beautiful modern style cottage. Property matches what is seen in all the pictures of listing and came with all the amenities. Stayed comfortably with a group of 10 and had everything we needed. Ample bedding and fresh linens, fire wood, and kitchenware to suit all needs. Two large screen tv’s with strong wifi for Netflix, internet and steaming apps. Nice dock and additional large lakeside deck with picnic table to enjoy morning sunrise and evening sunsets. Elevated hilltop property with deck over looking Boshkung lake is also a nice and cozy for spot for BBQing or night time view of the stars. Overall a great stay and memorable experience. Highly recommend place to enjoy your next getaway.

Beautiful property

Had a great time at a girls weekend away at this beautiful property. Ample space to soak up the sun outside on the large decks and dock. Couple improvements could be made to the cottage itself however. We had quite a few issues with the alarm system going off repeatedly over the course of our stay. Ended up having to shut the breaker off completely to make it stop. Cleaning could be improved as we had to do a quick clean before the rest of our group arrived. Furnishing and decor were okay, however it was more suited for a bachelor pad and not suited for such a beautiful and unique space. Could use a freshening up to meet the amazing potential this cottage has to offer. Would suggest the host to provide a binder with cottage details and instructions for guests (alarm codes, outdoor shower and lighting switches, garbage removal, local restaurants/trails/attractions, etc). Would still recommend for the uniqueness and property! Overall a great time.

A perfect weekend getaway!

A perfect house for a weekend escape with friends and family - a modern aesthetic, spacious living area and kitchen to hang out, tons of outdoor areas and decks, comfortable bedrooms, and beautiful views. Only minor notes would be to bring your own drinking water if you don’t like the taste of soft water, and some kayaks / canoes would be great!

This is a unique property not found in the Muskoka's. Very modern newly built cottage that offers the up north experience with city chic. Our property has it all 2 docks, fireplace, optional Bunkie, 500 ft of water front very private yet close to everything you need. There are nice restaurants close by, great fishing, boating and swimming. If you looking to make memories this is it.
