All are just 1/2mile from Cloudmont Ski Resort, 2 miles to downtown Mentone,& 5 minutes from DeSoto Falls. Whether you are looking to relax and unwind or go on an adventure, this spacious yet cozy-feeling retreat has something for everyone to enjoy!

Pets 25 pounds or less are allowed. We do not allow labs or retrievers due to their shedding.

Please Note: This cabin has a shared driveway with our cabin, Hoot's Hideaway, next door. In the fall, acorns may fall. Be careful not to park under an oak tree. We cannot be responsible if an acorn falls on your vehicle. You may rent both for family and corporate events, or when 2 families want to vacation together but have their own space. No parties or noisy events.

Update: Exterior cameras are in use at the cabin for your protection and the protection of the property owners. They only cover the parking areas and a RING doorbell. They do not invade your privacy at all.

Great weekend escape

Convenient property to Desoto State Park, and downtown Mentone yet secluded and peaceful. Will certainly stay again with this host.

Nice Cabin!

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The town of Mentone is just down the road, and Fort Payne isn’t far away if you want to shop, eat out, etc. Everything came as advertised. I would stay there again.

Awesome cabin

We had a wonderful time. The cabin was great. Our grandsons loved it. In fact my 8 year old left a note saying he loved it!!

Tammy, thank you for your five star review. That tells us that we had our objective of giving a great and memorable stay at a fair and reasonable price. The reason we have a full frontal and picture of the steps is so that people can see there are steep steps to get up to this particular cabin. I’m sorry if there was a misunderstanding, but I really don’t know how we can disclose much more clearly did the picture that shows all of the steps with the caption that talked about it is the leading up to the cabin. Thanks for joining us. We have five properties in MENTONE and three of the other four are only two or three steps up to enter the property.

Wonderful retreat that is still nearby

We enjoyed our stay at Happy Hollow! The cabin is off a small road that is busier than we would have expected but the kids were never very close to it. The interior is very nice with lots of activities to keep the family occupied when it rains and exploring the woods around the cabin was also a popular activity. We had a few minor issues with the hot tub but the property manager was quick to respond and offer help. We did enjoy it on the second day of our stay. Overall, we felt at home and would stay here again.

Perfect week

Got there at check in, everything went great. We mainly wanted a place to spend the week away from everything, so we chose here. Everything was clean and perfect. We cooked and there were plenty of utensils and pots and pans to cook for a family of four easily. Thank you for that. The rooms were cozy and the hot tub was nice. We really enjoyed the side porch in the morning as the sun was peering through the woods at about 6. Was absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend this as a family getaway as it is also close to cloudmont skiing.

Very peaceful

My husband and I stayed at Happy Hollow cabin 5 nights for our 1st visit to Mentone. The cabin is beautiful, on a peaceful, quiet road in the woods. We went hiking daily to explore the beautiful nature trails to see the waterfalls. We made the 25 minute ride into Fort Payne most every day for b'fast, and then again for dinner. We reserved a table at the nearby Elevation Bistro, for our Anniversary dinner and it was amazing. Wifi reception was great for streaming. Hot tub was amazing. We built a fire one evening in the firepit. We really enjoyed everything about our stay!

Not the Privacy Advertised

The cabin itself outside of the dust and cobwebs that got addressed after our stay, is a nice place however they do not show accurate pictures of the shared driveway and the other cabin that is less than 100’ away. The windows in the pictures don’t show the fact you can see directly into the other cabin and them into yours. Unfortunately it seems we hit just a poor all around series of events, no gas for propane fireplace, cleaning and dusting had been rushed or just not throughly done etc. Again cabin was nice but be aware that you can overhear conversations at the other cabin hot tub and I’m sure it goes both ways. The lack of blinds is odd so we made makeshift ones out of sheets to provide privacy for ourselves and the neighbors. The listing states shared driveway but the pictures are extremely misleading as it literally doesn’t even show the other cabin. This won’t allow me to add photos which is a shame cause I stepped back a few feet from their shot and you can see the other cabin and the proximity. If your renting both for a large group the proximity is perfect, for an anniversary getaway I would say maybe not so much.

Josh complained the cabin had dust. He did not know how to light the fireplace. Had he contacted us - we would have resolved both issues. As a host, your biggest frustration is once someone complains publicly without giving you the opportunity to fix it privately. We go out of our way to disclose that it is a shared lot with a shared driveway and steep steps. We will add a new picture to our site because of this that shows how close to cabins are together. Between the two cabins we have over 400 reviews, that average 4.96 on the primary competitor to VRBO. We stand behind the fact that he had a very nova in at a very fair and affordable cabin. They paid $122 a night. That is less than the Holiday Inn Express and the Hampton Inn in Fort Payne, Alabama which is 20 minutes away.

Peaceful and Relaxing

My husband and I just needed a quite,relaxing, and stress-free time away from work. The Happy Hollow cabin is just beautiful. We loved the decor and the lay out of the cabin. It is located on a beautiful country road that provides outstanding scenery. The cabin is in the perfect location close to Desoto Falls, Desoto State Park, Sallie Howard Church and the Town of Mentone. I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone. The only cons we find is the kitchen sink is slow to drain and they is alot of steps going up. There is 2 steps the is not the correct width, so you need to be careful stepping down.

Nice and quiet

There were issues with the hot tub and took two days of getting to use it off our visit! With only one bathroom it was noisy with a barn door closure that made a lot of noise in the middle of the night! Never did find out how to use the you tube tv app! But overall it was a good stay! We had a good time with the hiking areas!
