Wake up every morning and drink your beverage of choice while enjoying a glorious ocean view! Three of our five bedrooms offer an ocean view (moms and dads claim those!), while our entire, sunny, window filled Great Room offers the same spectacular option.

Step onto the wrap around deck to enjoy, the sight, sounds and smell of the ocean! A quick change into swimsuits and you can enjoy it all from the hot tub!

Our home is the perfect option - all of the benefits of "ocean view" without getting overwhelmed by the crowd and the traffic! How far away is the ocean? Less than five minutes. It's really close!

A big kitchen with a large snack bar, where fabulous food & drinks can be enjoyed while you chat with friends and family. We have a fully stocked kitchen, beach chairs, games, cards, books - whatever you need to relax, it's here. There is a washer and dryer at the house as well (not that you want to do laundry, but you can. :). Enjoy our nearly 3,000 square foot space to spread out at night and connect during the day. Sun, Ocean, Great Food & Beverage of Choice = Relaxation!

NOTE: IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU HAVE A 4WD VEHICLE so you can easily drive to our home. Our home is on Carova Beach, which is the perfect oasis - far enough away from the downtown OBX craziness without being too far away if you want to experience the crazy! Carova Beach is also a Wild Horse Preserve, so plan on seeing plenty of wild horses during your stay!

We have a three day minimum in the off season; minimum 7 day stay during the summer season.

It's a 7 mile drive down the beach - not a bad commute with a view like that! If you don't want to drive on the beach, there are other options to get you there (i.e. you can use a "park & ride" service to and from the house - there are fees associated with that. I can provide more info for you, if you'd like).

We will give you more information in our "Welcome" letter on tips & tricks for driving on the beach, as well as what we have at the house and what you may want to bring. And, please, reach out to us with any questions. We're here to make your stay just what you need it to be so you can relax and recharge.

Perfect vacation!

Our family had a wonderful trip over Easter! We had 8 adults and 4 children, ranging from 15-8 years old. The house is spacious and has all the amenities needed for a great stay. We loved spending time on the deck watching the wild horses and looking at the ocean. My husband and son went surf fishing daily and caught some nice fish. It was a relaxing stay and we hope to return soon!

2024 Thanksgiving Stay

Excellent property and location and we enjoyed our stay very very much. The kitchen was well stocked. However the property needs work and to be thoroughly cleaned, especially the return air vents. Outside lights didn’t work and are a must due to the steepest of the steps. Even though I stated the items above it is no because I am complaining, it’s because I’m trying to help improve on the property for future visitors. We enjoyed our selfs immensely and definitely would stay again. Thanks for sharing your Piper’s Nest with us.

Fun at the Beach

Tracy’s home was clean and comfortable. It was a short drive or walk to the beach. We saw several wild horses eating grass in the yard during our stay, enjoyed the hot tub, and games on game night. We would definitely love to book this home again on our next visit to OBX.

Beach House

Best house

The house was super clean and had everything you need. Nice views of the ocean. Host was so accommodating when we had a question. Best experience in all the years we have been coming to carova. Highly recommend this house.

Amazing!!! Wonderful, affordable beach house!

There were a couple of initial hiccups: first, the battery on the door key pad was dead, so we couldn’t get right in. Then once inside, there was a mix up with their cleaning group and the house had not been cleaned. The host was immediately responsive and within an hour she had another group there to clean it and got the door fixed for us. She was wonderful at quick communication and fixing the issues that were out of her control. Very professional. From that point on, our stay was absolutely amazing! The house was beautiful, excellent location ! We had a wonderful vacation with our kids and grandkids, and made amazing memories. We are already talking about going back and staying at this same house! I would highly recommend this property and the host!

Great remote getaway

This location was just what we were looking for. Horses grazing around the property were beautiful! We had 8 family members & this house had plenty of room. We enjoyed the hot tub while watching the sunset. While the house is older, the owners are doing updates. We would definitely stay here again.

One of a kind adventure

If you’re thinking of booking- do it. Do it now. The host is kind and thoughtful, and goes out of her way to make your trip memorable. With that said, she is very responsive, helpful, and a perfect host. We woke up to the wild horses in the yard, spent entire days on the beach, relaxed in the (very clean) hot tub, and cannot wait to return. The beach house is a magical place of horses and beauty. With the bonus of a perfect host. 10+++ stars!

Loved the location

We had an awesome time. Loved the Thursday check in to miss all the traffic on 12. House was well equipped. And we loved that we could all spread out if needed. Enjoyed the views of the ocean from many rooms in the house. Loved that we could bring the dogs with us. Tracy was great answering any questions! Really enjoyed our stay.

Family Vacation

This home is beautiful and spacious! Fit our family perfectly!! I love that almost every room has a view and there own sliding glass door to the porch! Very homey and comfortable! I love that we got to see the horses in the front and the back yard and that you could see the ocean from the porches as well! The kitchen is fully stocked, had everything you need! Tracey was great! She answered every question we had and responded quick! We had a great family vacation in this beautiful home and such a beautiful area!

Family ReUnion Vacation

The location is amazing! Waking up and seeing the wild horses every morning was just magnificent! We could walk to the beach. The drive on the beach is a bit long to get to the house for me but well worth it. The house was spacious and clean. We all enjoyed our visit to the outer banks. The host Tracy was amazing about staying in contact. If you are looking for an amazing OBX experience this is the place!

Long weekend getaway

Fully enjoyed our stay! This was our first time in Carova and hopefully won’t be our last! Biggest highlight the wild horses, we went looking for them, but really didn’t need to because they ended up in front yard!! We’re a Jeep family so felt right at home driving through the sand/on the beach. The house has beautiful views and lots of light upstairs! Downfalls: other people’s trash was still in upstairs bathroom trash can, dishes were still in dishwasher, and floor needed to be swept. Exterior of house could use some TLC and porches could use more chairs and take to the beach chairs (as there was only one). Our family has always vacationed to Kill Devil and my kids are always ready to leave, this trip, however my kids were pleading to stay.

Perfect Location and Views

Piper's Nest was a wonderful property. Light and bright and nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Spacious master bath with double sinks. Lots of space to spread out for us and the dogs. But the best part is the location and views. Even though it's not ocean front you get great views from both levels. Literally a couple minutes walk to the beach but we like to take our SUV and park so we can take all our stuff. Tracy was absolutely wonderful to work with. Very helpful and responsive. The welcome packet was very informative also. Highly recommend Pipe's Nest!

Can’t say this property! Most importantly, Tracy, the owner was awesome to work with!

This house is amazing! It has ample rooms, bathrooms, supplies, kitchen wares, and endless decks ! The views are breathtaking! We saw horses and were able to bring our pups! Additionally, the owners were very responsive, communicative, and helpful. Book now!

Great house!

Great house! We spent several days in the area fishing and Piper's Nest was the perfect spot to relax after a day on the beach. The house was clean, had plenty of space and everything we needed. The communication with Tracy was outstanding as well! She was very responsive and helped us prepare for the trip. We will definitely be staying at Piper's Nest again!

Close to the Beach!

This beach house is only a "block" away from the Atlantic Ocean on an OBX 4x4 beach. It was our first time driving on the sand in our AWD vehicle, and the notes from the hosts on this were very helpful! Tracy & Gerry have done a lot of work on the house since they recently purchased it (the bedding was much nicer than the original photos when we booked last winter!), and their love for the house really shows. Thoughtful touches like throw rugs at the doors (to catch all the sand) and a washer/dryer in the unit were appreciated. Also a second refrigerator, because we packed enough food for a group of 12 for a week, and the extra space was very useful. There were some cute beach toys provided and the little bunk bed room off of one of the larger queen rooms was great for our younger kiddos. We also appreciated that it was dog-friendly. We took our Great Dane with us and she had a good time, too! Of course, the biggest draw of this house is its proximity to the beach. While it is walkable, we found it easier to drive with all of the supplies the hosts provided (beach chairs, pop-up-tent, etc.), and park on the beach. This also seemed to be what most other people were doing, and most days, we were one in a line of many folks parked on the beach. The parking passes from the house are vital for this, especially in the summer. Tracy and Gerry have excellent communication and were very helpful in managing any issues. We appreciated all the information they provided prior to our trip (this helped immensely with packing), and were reachable during our stay as well.

Pipers Nest 2022

Our family (13+) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pipers Nest! Talk about location...Holy cow it has its ups and downs but once you figure out what you want... Amazing!! The walk....as advertised...the views...as advertised...the experience...better than any review or add could describe it. We highly recommend the Pipers Nest for an awesome OBX visit.

We are Gerry & Tracy from upstate NY. We are a blended family with six children of varying ages between us - and one grand baby! We fell in love with Carova Beach last year (on our first visit!) and ended up buying Sandpiper this year. It's become a project of love for us, trying to make it even more welcoming and inviting than it already is. When we go down to Sandpiper, even though we might be doing a lot of work, we feel like we are on vacation. We feel relaxed in a way that we typically don't. We want all of our guests to feel that way to and, if something is missing that would make it better for you, we always want to know that as well!

Carova Beach 4X4 is a Wild Horse Sanctuary for Colonial Spanish Mustangs. Wild horses have a very different diet from domesticated animals. Fruits and vegetables can cause serious injury or even death to the horses, so it is illegal to feed them That said, admiring the horses from a distance is its own reward, and the photos that can be snapped of a small herd wandering along the ocean wash, or grazing lightly in the sand dunes, or moseying up to your window, are easily the most treasured souvenirs of any Outer Banks vacation!
