This was a beautiful cabin. Everything looked the same as the pictures, but even better. Yes, you could stay here with kids, but it gives more of an adult cottage feel. The best thing was the kitchen, the sitting areas, and, of course, the grill. It is definitely a steep climb up to the cabin, but once you do it, it becomes natural

Place was clean and very nicely decorated. Bed was really comfortable. Had everything we needed in the kitchen. The lack of a table inside (there is one on the porch) was disappointing but we were able to use the coffee table for games. Would recommend and visit again.

Home was in great shape and is well taken care of. It's the last one on the road to the top of the mountain, so it is very serene and surrounded by the woods. Saw some deer, chipmunks, squirrels and even a couple bears on trash day! The house has everything you need. We could cook, have a hot cup of coffee or tea, watch a movie with ample blankets, or relax on the enclosed patio with a book.

The home was very clean and nice. It was just disappointing that there was no fire pit and the propane tank for the gas grill was so stuck shut making the grill inoperable. My son and I could not grill out.

Beautiful cabin in great location

We had a wonderful stay at the Cedar Cabin! The living area was large with plenty of seating options, and the beautiful kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Our kids enjoyed eating breakfast at the kitchen island while looking out at the mountain view. The location was great - easy to get in and out of downtown Asheville, and nice and secluded. I highly recommend booking!

Great location - few details could be better

The house is charming, clean, as described, and in a great location. Everything was stocked properly. Wooded setting is relaxing. Only reason for not 5 stars is the furniture is a bit uncomfortable. Bed is soft but has hump in the middle. Couches make you sink in awkwardly.

Amazing Mountain Cabin

This cabin has it all! It is clean, cozy, and modern. The host thought of everything we might want or need. It is very close to town. We even watched a white squirrel and four bears from the porch.

Nice Cabin in the woods

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Cedar Cabin. The property was as described in the listing and came well stocked. We saw bears right out of the living room picture window and wild turkeys on our visit. My only real complaint about the property, and the reason I'm rating as a 4 star, is access. The road coming in is very narrow and rutted out near the top. I absolutely would advise against this property if you're driving any thing less than an SUV or a truck. There is a decent chance you could damage your car. The property owner needs to work with their neighbors to have the road repaired for the benefit of all. I also wish the cabin was a bit more secluded. The neighbors are relatively close on either side. That being said, it's clear from the photos that this would be the case so we knew that going in.

Beautiful cabin in the woods. Great location, close to everything. It was a bit difficult navigating the winding, steep roads, but we got use to it. Well appointed and meticulously maintained. Overall, a very good experience.

Cabin Delight

Highly recommend this emaculate, upscale cabin which was very comfortable, roomy and quite well stocked. Owners left a full weeks supply of toiletries, paper products, coffee, spices, etc., and were timely and responsive when we had to reach out during our stay for an internet issue. We saw bears! Which, for us, was a treat
..and while the road up to the cabin is paved and manageable (we had a Subaru Outback), it is steep, narrow and full of potholes. Just go slow and you’ll be fine. So close to everything and yet so mountaintop with the full cabin vibe. Bet the fireplace is amazing in the fall too with those big picture windows and screened in porch! Loved our stay and will be back.

Peace in the woods, near to everything in AVL!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Cedar Cabin is beautifully appointed, and the woodsy setting is lovely!! It is the best of both worlds to be in a place that is meticulously decorated, with a well equipped kitchen and amenities, yet still be in nature. The location is excellent, as it is close to everything in Asheville and the surrounding communities. It should be noted that the road and driveway are quite curvy and steep, which was like a funhouse ride, but a bit of a challenge for a rear wheel drive pickup. I would highly recommend, and would definitely stay here again!!!

Perfect Location-Quiet and Peaceful

Located less than a pleasant 10 min drive from downtown Asheville in a setting that is like being much farther away in the mountains. Shaded by trees a short way up the mountain. Secluded, private and quiet. Accurate listing, clean and very well maintained. Well organized, everything you need to prepare meals, plenty of paper products, laundry detergent, etc... Many VRBO owners could take a lesson or two from these owners. We would definitely stay here again. Driveway/road is tricky as you approach the cabin, steep incline is spots. Not for a low clearance vehicle. Due to its suclusion a GPS helpful if arriving at night, no street lights.

Not what was expected

Positives: 1. Quaint 2. Quiet Negatives: 1. Dirty upon entrance (bed sheets) 2. No working fire place (10 degree weather). Over half a page of instructions to operate oven style fire place, and still did not work. Contacted owner several times, no effort to help. 3. No cabel, just streaming channels. No ability to watch sports on TV like NFL playoffs or any other sports 4. Good internet in the main living room, all other areas choppy and inconsistent 5. Horrible drive to the cabin and unless you are a great driver: no area to turn the car around. Neighbors have signs posted not to use their drive ways under any circumstances. 6. Water would not get hot, and stayed at warm. 7. Very happy to leave

Fall vacation

Came to Asheville to celebrate husband’s birthday and wanted to stay close to town but have the mountain experience. This home was the best of both worlds. Secluded yet so conveniently located to downtown Asheville to explore and enjoy the gourmet foods, shops etc

Secluded yet convenient GEM

What a fabulous property. This 2br/1ba could not have been more perfect for my wife and I to relax, while allowing us to enjoy all downtown Asheville has to offer. We saw a momma bear and her three cubs every day, as well as turkeys and the occasional squirrel. The house was immaculate and had every amenity you could possibly need. The screened in porch in the morning was our favorite spot, and this property will be number one on the list the next time we visit Asheville.

Johnny, Shanti Mountain Properties owner, graduated from Appalachian State with a degree in industrial technology and a concentration in sustainable technologies. In 2009, Johnny built his first short-term rental to give people a sanctuary to recharge and reset from the everyday grind, thus launching the company. During that time, he lived a minimalist lifestyle and traveled. From there, the company grew gradually to serve the greater Asheville community.

Today, you’ll find Johnny consulting with other homeowners on their lifestyle investment, helping to manage executive duties of the company by working “on” the company and occasionally “in” the company. He believes in living the lifestyle you want and having a meaningful career. That means you “live what you do.”

When Johnny isn’t overseeing Shanti Mountain Properties, he spends time with his wife and three girls ages 11, 9, and 3. Johnny is proficient in Sil Lum Kung Fu martial arts and loves playing the guitar and old-time Irish fiddle. In addition, he’s health-conscious and works out regularly.
