Relaxing with a view

We were able to please the whole family during this stay. It was a nice drive into the city for tourist outings, then an escape back to a peaceful stay.

Quiet private Haven

Beautiful home on the water. Beautiful sunrise over the water, Abundant wildlife with a variety of birds right below the deck in the water. The house was spotless and everything worked. The huge shower and spa tub is a plus after a long day of travel. Less than an hour to the French quarter but nicely away from the bustle of the city. Nice place we will rent again if in the area.

First time in NOLA

My family and dog really enjoyed staying at the fishing lodge, it had everything we needed and more. We felt comfortable in knowing we had everything at our fingertips. My husband and son wished that they would have pulled in more than just catfish and crabs from the banks 😂 but just glad that they could walk out the door and throw their poles in the water. We were just a short drive from downtown NOLA and all of our excursions. The only downfall was the spotty reception for the WIFI otherwise we would could say we were quite pleased.

Great getaway

We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and well-stocked. It had everything we needed to cook a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. We were able to travel with our family dog who enjoyed the new smells and chasing the rabbits. It was an easy trip in town to the French Quarter to hang out for the day. I would book this place again if we ever return to New Orleans.

Time with family

Once we finally got the email for check-in from vrbo, everything was fine. Google needs correction on directions from Slidell. It tells you it is 2 minutes longer than going all around on I10 over lake Pontchartrain, but it is not! If you go through Slidell it passes Jacobs drive and you just keep driving! Being on the water was amazingly, especially watching the sun rise.

Would definitely stay again! You can be picked up right from the dock for boating. Short drive into town for groceries. Very relaxing stay 😀

Family weekend

The property is perfect for a family getaway. The bedrooms are well accommodated with beds for all ages. The amenities are well supplied from enough bedding to kitchen supplies. Not to leave out the awesome view of the marsh and lake Catherine. My family looks forward to staying in the future.. Beautiful Location, crabbing, fishing and sunrises

This home is in a beautiful location. We were able to fish and crab from the dock. Sunrises are absolutely beautiful. Kitchen looked to be very well stocked. Lots of fun stuff to do in the area. Highly recommend taking the Cajun Encounter Swamp tour.

I was born and raised in Slidell, LA and graduated from the University of New Orleans. Fishing has always been a passion so I became a licensed captain and started Black Dog Charters in 2019. I then wanted to share with travelers some of the best views and experiences that the State of Louisiana has to offer so I opened Black Dog Lodge to guests in 2021.

Bring your boat! The Black Dog Lodge is situated on a deep water canal with access to the Rigolets, Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Catherine, and Lake Borgne. The Rigolets Marina and Lake Catherine Island Marina are less than a mile away in either direction for guests to launch their boats and the wet boat slip is available to tie up while at the lodge.

Waterfront living includes a furnished upstairs deck, ample outdoor seating under the house, private fishing dock with bright light for night fishing, fish-cleaning station, crab traps, and barbecue pit. A large portable Bluetooth speaker on wheels is also available to be used indoors or outdoors.

The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, seafood boil pot, drip & k-cup coffee maker, large island, and large dining table. Don't feel like making a grocery run? Instacart will deliver groceries directly to the lodge!

Complimentary toiletries, linens, and towels are included with a washer and dryer in house if needed.
