Cozy stay

Stayed over thanksgiving holiday. Little kitchen was perfect with all the tools needed. Rooms and beds were cozy and the location was perfect.

I wish I could leave a better review, however, the fact that our host did not respond to any request I had is the reason I have to leave this review. I would have overlooked the fact that the heat was set at 60 degrees when we arrived at this basement, that the wifi was at best spotty, that the fluorescent lights were missing covers, that it was not as clean as it should have been, the noise from upstairs, and the coffee maker did not work if the host had bothered to respond to my multiple requests for help. The location of this space is the best part of this listing. You are close to the metra and to the airport. There are cute restaurants and shops within walking distance. The adage you get what you pay for is accurate for this listing. Do not expect a lot and you will be fine.

Weekend trip

The apartment itself is great and in an area that offers lots of options for great food. Only thing is if you’re not an early riser, the upstairs folk aren’t going to let you sleep in late. You can hear them waking around, talking, and listening to music bright and early!

Cozy garden level apartment in a great location

Cute and cozy garden level apartment. Walking distance to restaurants and bakeries. Close and easy route to downtown as well O’hare airport. Train traffic near by is the only downside, but that is city living.

Our second time staying in this unit. Perfect location by the trains or driving so the option of going downtown into the city of Chicago is easy. Free parking in front of the house. Safe and quiet family friendly neighborhood. We adore the Aracely"s bakery a few blocks away and walked there every morning. Everything was clean and ready for our arrival. It was nice to be able to control the A/C and heat in our own apartment. Host responded to questions by text and inbox through the app in a timely manner. Love the enclosed yard with extras for the kids to play on. A coffee maker and toaster was added since our last trip which was appreciated.Very satisfied with our second stay and would gladly book again and again. Thank you so much!!!

Worked well for our stay

Everything was well stocked and cleaned. The listing mentioned two twin beds (4 total beds) but there was only one twin (3 total beds) luckily it wasn’t a big issue for my group because there were 3 air mattresses and the couch if need be. You’ll definitely hear the upstairs neighbors if you have them but it only affected our sleep one night. Thank you for the stay.

Nice place, good area

Overall very good. The house is nice, the host was responsive. Only a few small issues. The main thing was the noise level when there were guests above us. We stayed in the basement apartment. It was very loud when people upstairs walked around or made any noise.

The property was in excellent condition, the owner is so sweet and nice, but the only thing is the noise neighbor, because it’s 3 apartment together so, upstairs neighbor was so noisy we couldn’t sleep well.

The good...the neighborhood felt safe, we had shared access to laundry, and everything was clean. The bad...Catherine the owner didn't send the codes to get in until an hour or 2 after check-in, and i had been messaging her on our way there. She only responded after i called VRBOs customer service & never apologized nor explained. During our stay the wifi stopped working for several hours. I messaged Catherine about this, and didn't get a message from her until the next day. The beds are very firm, which we found to be uncomfortable and since our unit is in the basement, we could hear every step above (which i knew from earlier reviews). We only found one sharp knife to meal prep & eat with, and the coffee machine wouldn't turn on no matter where it was plugged in. There was a 4 inch hole in the main walkway that was just covered with a rug. We won't be staying here again due to the beds and inadequate communication.

Lots of room and rooms, very clean, nice decor, full apartment, nice host, good parking. First night was nice and great but second night there was some teenagers having a party on floor above the apartment until 2:30 in the morning, that's not the host fault but they didn't respect the 11:00 curfew despite three interventions. When you are tired and it's an old home and you can hear everything in between the floors (talking, walking, urinating and you are tired and need to sleep it's hard. Also there is a freight train that goes by every 5 minutes or so it seems yet once asleep you don't notice it so I wouldn't discourage based on these. It might very well be an exception that teens rent an AirB&B to have a party but for our family it's the second time :( at least the host did call them at 12:00 to ask them to respect the rules, yet they didn't....

Perfect Accomodation

Very satisfied Premises were clean and we'll maintained from outside to in. Play fort for toddlers and a trampoline in yard! Neighborhood was very safe for family. I walked to the nearby Mexican bakery everyday and even took the kids for a late night walk to wind them down. Easy and close to hit into the big city. Host responded in a timely manner. Shared laundry on site was nice, we cleaned all our towels and dried them and then that the bedding to wash before leaving to help out .Made sure our dishes were clean and put away before exiting too. The only rule I could find listed was where to take out the garage but wanted to make it easier on housekeeping. Apartment was as stated and pictured. Easy to locate and traffic was one way only. Even if the kids were only on the sidewalk the drivers going by would slow down for safety, very sweet. The public pool was within walking distance and very nice! My only complaints were the remote was missing for the living room tv, finally found it buried under the couch cushions the morning we were leaving. I'd recommend putting Velcro patches on it to stick to the entertainment center or something. I assume a prior tenant is to blame for the mishap. And when using the oven I couldn't find any potholders. Other than that everything was perfect for us! Would highly recommend and stay again anytime.Thank you so much!
