Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway.
Our cozy cottage is a great place to unplug from the city life and recharge your soul. Come to relax on the patio where you can enjoy the views over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. Take in the vast views of the stars as you relax by the fire pit. The summers are great to cool off by the river. The fall and winter are great to make smores and enjoy the crisp cool weather. Enjoy the new life of flowers during a spring hike along the river.
We are located 9 miles from Garner State Park, 20 minutes from Utopia where you can hike along beautiful trails, 20 miles from Concan.

Great Place

Great place to stay for a family! Not a far drive to Garner or Concan, and the patio in the evenings was spectacular! Swimming hole behind the property was a great feature as well for the kiddos!

Frio River Getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the property. The house is lovely and the host is very accommodating. There is a very small airport runway near the house and my kids loved getting to watch a plane take off.

Cozy Cottage

We loved this place! Very cozy, very clean, would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing stay. We loved the patio, and our favorite had to be the private water access in the back.

Short summer getaway before school starts

Enjoyed the stay, nice property and home. We were actually were lucky and they recieved quote a bit of rain before we arrived, we were able to enjoy the west frio on the property. The kids had such a good time

Very relaxing

We sure enjoyed ourselves. We were there for a graduation so we didn’t have a whole lot of time to do things, but we loved sitting on the back patio watching the squirrels and deer. The cabin was great, it was a perfect set up. We had a wonderful time.

Perfect location

We love to visit both Garner State Park and Lost Maples, and this great little place was perfectly located in-between. The house was clean and comfortable, and had great access to the Frio. The river was low this year, but still fun and had a good swimming area our kids loved. The owners were responsive, helpful, and overall very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.

Gorgeous little house!

The house was beautiful, inviting, and full of natural light! Very clean and comfortable. Close to town and has awesome river access. Can’t wait to return when the Frio actually has water. But, we did go down to the river bed for stargazing, which was amazing!

Beautiful Hill Ciuntry retreat

Quiet and peaceful place to stay. Not exactly on the Frio as described (way across a field) though no water anyway. Very nice back patio. . Great place for day trips to Garner and Lost Maples. Could have better check in instructions.

Very nice cottage, comfortable and well equipped. Very pleased with the entire stay. River was dried up due to lack of rain but drive to other areas with water was very close. Did find a small dead scorpion in one of the bedrooms, so just be aware if you leave shoes outside to dry.

Nice and clean with great views

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the house. It looked newly renovated, much more updated than other rentals in our price range, which is why we selected it. There were a few items it seemed like it was lacking like a place to put our suitcases to access clothing which was needed because there were so few hangers in the closet. They advertised a washer and dryer, yet there wasn’t any laundry detergent. Also, there was no welcome information about local restaurants or interesting places to visit. Small details that will put this very nice place over the top! We had a great stay at a great house. Thank you!

Very clean

The house is very clean and everything was new. Would love to see if when there’s water in the river. Photos are misleading about current water levels. We traveled July 2023 and could not swim at the property. Our kids did play in the puddles and waded in the watering hole but definitely not a ‘River’. I wish we would have known this information as we would have rescheduled. The trip was still great. Views from the house were beautiful and peaceful. I would stay here again.

My husband and I discovered this gem in 2020 when we decided to drive to Leakey, (We lived in Uvalde) to eat dinner. My husband saw that this land was for sale so he called the realtor and made an appointment. I was too busy to go so he went alone. He immediately fell in love with it and he wanted me to take a trip to see it. I too fell in love with the property. I honestly thought that it was out of our reach and that I was going to be disappointed by not being able to purchase it. It was a beautiful spring day and it was overcast and the air was crisp and fresh. I remember standing under the tree next to the cottage talking to God. I told him that I really loved the property and if he could make it possible, that I would love to live here. My husband and I were in the process of some big changes in our life and we needed everything to line up just right in order to purchase the land. In the mean time, we rented the cottage and stayed over the weekend. What I remember the most was the feeling of peace that I felt when we stayed. Our life was so busy with work and staying the weekend in the cottage really helped us to unplug from it all. We slowed down to enjoy our family and the beautiful scenery. After our stay, we put in an offer and it was accepted. It took us 5 months to close on it because everything really need to line up just right. The previous owner was so patient and very understanding. We have been so blessed living here. I still wake up in the morning thanking God for allowing us to live here. I want our guest to experience what we did on our first stay here. Life is too short so it is very important to stop from our business of life to enjoy the ones we love the most.
