Celebrating birthdays in Oxnard
We had two big birthdays to celebrate with family living near Oxnard. The first celebration was for a young lady having her first birthday and the second was for a special person turning 30. This made 1000 Star Blazer the perfect place to spend a long weekend amongst 4 generations of a wonderful family. It was a perfect vacation retreat with great hospitality from the landlords.

Given the price point of this property and the expectation of a luxury vacation rental experience, the number of inconveniences we encountered were really disappointing, and after a week, management has yet to respond to us. The downstairs queen bed frame was completely detached from the headboard and made loud banging noises throughout the night, making it very difficult to sleep. The bed itself was also extremely uncomfortable. The downstairs shower initially had no hot water and was spraying water everywhere, requiring the local house manager to come out and repair it. She also had to bring us ice because the refrigerator ice machine was either not turned on or not functioning.Most notably, the air conditioning was not working properly. It got up to 76-77 degrees upstairs and made it very difficult for us and our children to sleep. We were instructed to leave all of the windows and doors open to cool the house. This made temperatures uncomfortable overnight and in the mornings, especially with small children in the home.Also, the garage door sensor does not work and the door continued to close even if someone was standing there. I will say the house was very clean, and I appreciated having the travel crib and high chair for our kids. The rooftop deck was also nice to grill.

This review is from a guest who wanted a refund from the jump. There was never a lack of hot water - she did not turn the knob the correct direction and the 'spray' was becuase the shower head dial needed to be turned to a larger drop- Kelly came out and SHOWED her. They complained about no A/C but it clearly showed it was working on the thermostat and they turned it OFF in the morning becuase they said it was too cold. The bed they have complained about is a hybrid mattress with innerspring and memory foam - beds are a personal preference and we try to accomodate all our guests. They beds they moved to....are the same mattresses. We keep a refrigerator/freezer in every garage -the ice had been put in the freezer. Guests, we are a local family-owned company not a big corporation and are happy to be able to provide homes like this for your family vacation. Cities and hotels are trying to ban renting homes in neighborhoods and getting false reviews like this further their agenda to get ride of vacation rentals. When guests only have a Hampton Inn to stay in, you'll know why. We would not rent to this guest again and we are thankful that future potential Hosts can read all the reviews Guests leave for Hosts. We look forward to hosting more great guests in this beautiful house with the beach and marina just steps away. Lisa

Overall, the location was fantastic. The house was spacious, clean, and well-prepared by the housekeeping team. We truly enjoyed the proximity to the dog beach, the seals on the bay, and the views of the marina from the roof. The beach toys and equipment were also a great touch.However, we encountered several issues that we suggested the Management Company review: - Plumbing: The upstairs water took five minutes to get hot, and the downstairs shower head only produced a mist, making it unusable for our group of seven. - Maintenance: The rooftop BBQ required deep cleaning due to grease overflow before we could use it. Additionally, the ice maker in the refrigerator was non-functional. -Climate Control: The house became uncomfortably hot at night due to the 75-degree AC restriction after 11 PM. The bedroom fans were insufficient, and outside noise prevented us from leaving windows open. - Security: The garage door lock did not work to open or close it. On our final day, the front door lock batteries died, preventing us from locking the house and delaying our departure into the rush hour. - Supplies: The kitchen lacked a functioning can opener and a standard toaster (the toaster oven was a poor substitute). Bedside clocks were also absent. None of the above though required immediate attention, neither did they ruin our fond memories made with our kids/grandkids & pets.

Lots to address for my future guests: We have decided to supply our larger homes with all in on Air fryer/toasters. So many people use air-fryers (me) and the response from most guests is A , This is a large house and it does take a big of time for host water to initially get to the different bathrooms. It is a tankless and is plenty large, just need a big of patience, as with any 3 story house. Regarding the misty showhead - we will check that and make sure its as strong as possible - California requires those 2.5 showerheads but we do the best we can. The guest was confused about garage codes - everything works fine. The guest was rushing out (per his message) when he said he could not do a final lock up - not sure what happened there but since the cleaner was on the way it wan't a problem. We have coded locks and try to keep all the batteries more than 25% full. If its close, we send you a text and ask if we can pop new ones into your lock - takes 5 seconds. Also, if your lock was to lose power, you just message us and Kai will give you the lockbox code for the door key which is an arms-length away. Easy-peasy. Dirty BBQ - not sure how that happened but if it does, tell us asap so we can send someone to clean it. If you keep your messages on the system withe Kai, you will always have a response. Please keep messages on Kai's messaging system - she anwers most of the questions and directs the ones she can't, to the right person. Calling by phone is not faster - it is slower. Again, we are local hosts and can bring anythign you need. We also have amazing communication tools that, if you follow the instructions and sign the rental agreement asap, your Guest Portal will arrive in your email and your entry codes wil be there 48 hours before check-in. ;) We hope to host you at this gorgeous house!

Our family of 5 really enjoyed staying at this property. Really a wonderful three story house with a 2 car garage and a nicely furnished rooftop deck with a grille that was great for enjoying sunset cocktails. We found the communication with the host very easy and they provided a portal for check-in, access, check-out, etc. that was intuitive and easy to use. The house was very clean upon arrival and we were surprised and impressed as to how very well provisioned and furnished the property was to host a large family, (perhaps the best of any VRBO that I have stayed at). The beach was a short walk and we liked setting up our beach camp in the portion of the beach which had some small dunes and is protected by the breakwater (great swimming), My Sons enjoyed surfing the breaks on Hollywood Beach located a short walk away.

The hosts were wonderful, quick to respond to any and all questions. The property was beautiful and felt like home. We enjoyed the roof top patio and the night skies. The main bedroom felt like a house on its own. The main floor was spacious. The downstairs bedrooms and bath were perfect for our needs. Being so close to the beach with the seals and the harbor with the boats was magical. Walking paths and restaurants were within steps of the house. The beach was not crowded and was clean. The neighborhood was quiet. People were friendly. Our dogs had a blast at the beach. We would recommend staying here.
