Journey back in time and relax in the Bluebird Cottage of Mountain Rest Lake. Nestled in the woods, this charming lake front retreat offers a multitude of activities for peace seekers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
The newly restored 1940's cottage is a sanctuary of rest and beauty. Walk to the dock and enjoy paddling, fishing, swimming or just relaxing lakeside. Sit on one of the screened porches with your morning coffee and breathe in the fresh air. Enjoy a perfect sunset view and star gazing at the end of your day. Close to great hiking trails and waterfalls, Clemson football games (45 min.) or a visit to Clayton GA (30 min.) or Highlands NC (35 min.). There are excellent dining opportunities within 15-30 miles. Art galleries, antique stores and many boutique shops are nearby and waiting to be explored!

The place is on a small lake and it is a beautifully remodeled cabin from years ago. We did have ‘mountain rest’ and it was wonderful!! Everything we needed was there and also board games, books, 2 screened in porches and most importantly, a peaceful dock with chairs and kayaks and canoes. We hope to be able to go back again.

Barbie is very responsive. The cottage is absolutely adorable. Very cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. Very clean and no issues with the cottage whatsoever. We will definitely be booking again.

We really enjoyed the Bluebird Cottage. It was well appointed and very clean. We enjoyed the gas fire table on the back screened porch instead of using the fire pit. The kitchen was well stocked with pans and knives for cooking. The little lake was quiet and we enjoyed sitting on the dock. Barbie was a top notch host.

Our recent stay at this delightful cabin was amazing! This home away from home is welcoming and has everything you could possibly need. The setting is spectacular-serene, peaceful, and private. The cottage itself is exceptionally decorated and each detail is thoughtfully laid out. Barbie is an excellent host and communicates in a timely manner. We are already planning a return visit to this delightful mountain retreat.

This place was immaculate and decorated very nice. It is in a peaceful, serene woodsy area with beautiful views of lake. The host is very generous and had coffee, creamer sugar, few snacks and pantry staples. She also allowed use of kayaks and tubes/floats, life vests etc . Excellent host! Lots of games, books and puzzles available too. Would definately recommend!

Bluebird Cabin is amazing. It is beautifully decorated and well-stocked for all our needs. We loved kayaking and canoeing on the beautiful lake. We felt welcomed and at home the minute we walked in the door. Will definitely return another time.

This place is magical. It’s absolutely stunning in appearance and location. Beyond well equipped for anything you could need or want and then some. Go ahead and add an extra day to enjoy this place, it’s incredible! I can’t wait to visit again. 35 mins from the door to Death Valley for the Tigers game. Staying here, You won’t be disappointed!! The property was absolutely beautiful! We had a little trouble with the internet when we got there (from no fault of Barbie's of course). She went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and that we stayed in touch with out kiddos while away! I appreciate the cleanliness and the gorgeous decor of the Lakeside Haven. Very off the beaten path and peaceful directly on the lake. The decor was perfect in every detail. Beds were comfortable and everything was impeccably clean. Perfect Getaway

We absolutely loved our time here. It was a great chance for our teens to unplug. We spent hours paddling and fishing on the lake from morning until dusk. The house was very well equipped and decorated beautifully. We didn’t have to leave for anything! We can’t wait to come back.

My husband and I enjoyed a super relaxing 3 night stay. We enjoyed hanging on the dock and both screened porch areas. We also loved the surrounding hiking trails which are easily accessible right from the cottage. The cottage is so cute! The furnishings are comfortable, beautiful and creative. It has everything we needed as far as kitchen appliances, cookware, good wifi, kayaks, etc. Also there's a great little coffee/tea bar with grinder/coffeemaker/teas, etc. The place was immaculately clean. Our host Barbie was very super helpful and kind.

Great place to get away from it all!

The place is comfy and cozy. The furnishings are amazing. Everything is provided. The lake is quiet and clean. It is everything you need to get away for a long weekend!

Peaceful, comfortable with lovely amenities

We had a lovely time at The Bluebird Cottage. The house was just as described. Actually it was better than described. Being there and sitting on the porch overlooking the lake was so relaxing. The kitchen is well stocked and we enjoyed cooking meals with a view. The location was perfect for chasing waterfalls and we saw 7 this trip. I especially enjoyed the peaceful spin around the lake in the provided kayak. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for outdoor adventures in the area with a comfortable, cozy place to return that makes you feel right at home.
