Welcome to Quietude, an Ember Escapes property. Enjoy this mountain retreat set on 60 private acres with sunset views of the Belknap Mountain Range. This 100-year-old property inspires peacefulness amongst towering pines all with the comfort of an Adirondack inspired Lodge with nearby Cottage and Gatehouse.

The 1904 Lodge has been restored and designed with both comfortable furniture and aesthetics that feel familiar and blend into the space. This property is meant to inspire a connection to nature and offers a throwback lodging experience. Gather in the library with a glowing fire for an afternoon cocktail or board games. The modern country kitchen has all new appliances and an island and breakfast nook for smaller meals. The dining room features a large table with 10 chairs that can expand to 14. The sunroom gets a full day of light and is perfect for reading in oversized comfy chairs - while the library is the main gathering spot with books to read, two large couches, an oversized chair, and a built-in window seating area with views. For those who like to “tickle the ivories”, there is a 1920’s Chickering baby grand piano and additional instruments including guitar and tambourine for friends to join in. The porch off the library offers a relaxing place to sit in one of the rocking chairs and enjoy the scenery. With majestic trees overhead, you will feel the serenity of being surrounded by nature.

The Cottage, just 150 feet from the Lodge, is quaint and more modern in design. It is perfect for a couple, small family or an executive who wants to be separate from guests. You will have your own kitchen with counter, stools, sitting area, loft with three beds for sleeping, and an outdoor porch with a table and chairs.

Our newly restored Gatehouse is perched at the entrance of the property and features an equally stunning view from the deck of fields, the pond, and the great larch with the Belknap range on the horizon. 200 yards from the Lodge it features 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and a comfortable living room, dining area, and kitchen making this a great addition for group and family outings.

Finally, there's the property itself - 60 acres of beautiful grounds. There's an overlook that sports views of Gunstock Mountain Ski Area, a pond full of life (frogs, stocked trout), two fire pits - a Breeo smokeless custom built in front of the lodge and a "woods" fire pit below the pond. There is easy access to 5km of hiking trails (x-country in winter) as well as a snowmobile trail with 50 miles of riding just out our door. There are two large fields perfect for picnics, games or just hanging out.

We have a variety of items guests can use - cornhole, fly fishing rods, croquet and several other activities as well as two 8' tables & 12 wooden folding chairs for meals in the fields.

Upon arrival pass the Gatehouse and follow the driveway 300 yards past the pond to the Lodge and Cottage. You have full run of the property (fields, pond, trails, etc).

We are available via phone / text during your stay to support in any way to make your stay enjoyable.

We are in a private mountain valley in the New Hampshire Lakes Region with limited neighbors. With 30 minutes are a variety of seasonal activities - from boat adventures on lakes, and canoeing rivers to skiing in the White Mountains or visiting local sights like Castle in the Clouds or Wolfeboro.

Parking for 12+ cars on property, need a vehicle to go most places (a snowmobile in winter if you want to travel by snow!)

If there's anything else you need arranged, the owners of this property own a gathering agency Ember and can help with provisions (stocking fridge/pantry for arrival), coordinating a private chef/catering and other items.

À propos de l’hôte

Hôte : Chris Gasbarro

Image de profil de l’hôte
Hi—we’re Kathy and Chris!

We run an event agency and one day looked at each other and said, “What if we had our own venue—somewhere we could create truly special gatherings?” That dream became Quietude.

After discovering this 100-year-old property tucked in the New Hampshire woods, we spent a year renovating it with love and intention. Now, it’s where we host our clients—and where we welcome families, friend-cations, and retreats of all kinds.

Kathy’s been coming to the Lakes Region since childhood (just down the road in Wolfeboro), and Chris is most at home in the mountains—hiking, skiing, and casting flies in cold rivers. Quietude is a blend of both worlds: comfort and connection, nature and craft.

You might also meet Dan, our caretaker and resident woodworking wizard. He keeps the grounds pristine and built many of the furniture pieces and wooden platters you’ll find around the property—crafted from trees we repurposed during the restoration.

This place means the world to us. We’d be honored to share it with you..

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

The moment we saw this property, we knew—there’s truly nothing else like it in New England.

Built in 1904, Quietude has retained its historic charm while embracing thoughtful updates. What sets it apart isn’t just the architecture or the acreage—it’s the feeling. With three separate buildings spread across 60 private acres, it’s an immersive retreat into nature and stillness. There’s a reason we named it Quietude.

Some guests never make it farther than the porch, the library, or the 50 feet to the overlook. Others cast a fly and pull in a 16” rainbow trout, explore the wooded trails, or take off on a 30-mile snowmobile ride that starts right at the door.

Whether you’re here to explore or unplug completely, there’s no better escape—just under 2 hours from Boston, and a world away from everything else.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

Quietude isn’t just a large rental—it’s a purpose-built experience for gathering, reconnecting, and unwinding. With 10 bedrooms across three thoughtfully placed buildings, the estate offers rare flexibility: togetherness when you want it, space when you need it.

The 1904 Lodge brings rustic charm and elevated comfort. The Cottage offers cozy seclusion. The Gatehouse adds extra space and privacy—all wrapped in 60 acres of forest, fields, and pond views.

Guests love the secret bar in the Shed, the crackling Breeo fire pit, and trails that start at the front door. And while some adventure out to fish, hike, or snowmobile, many find themselves perfectly content in a rocking chair on the porch or reading in the sunroom—moved by the stillness.

Quietude isn’t a place you pass through. It’s a place you settle into—and remember.
