I am very sorry to hear about your experience in our house. We purchase new set of linens every year. We keep three sets of linens available for each bedroom just in case. I wish you had told me about the linens. I would have our cleaning crew come back and replace them. Our cleaning crew prepares one set of towels for each guest. But I certainly would have given you access to our locked cabinet and let you grab more towels if I knew you needed more. You are the first guests complaining about the beds being uncomfortable. I apologize for this. Needless to say, we will order new mattresses for each bedroom at the end of this season. We’ve been renting this house for more than 10 years through VRBO. This is the first time we received a 3-star review. We will continue making renovations and improvements every year to make it comfortable for our guests.

Thank you for your feedback. However, nothing you mentioned justifies a 1-star rating. We have been renting this house for 13 years and have hosted over 1,000 guests during that time. Our average rating was 4.7 stars. In fact, guests who stayed with us during Bear Week, just two weeks before your stay, rated us 5 stars. The guests who checked out yesterday, also gave us a 5-start review. It seems you have a different set of expectations, which I’m not sure many properties in P-town, especially those in the central historical district, could meet. It feels like you were nitpicking. If the vacuum cleaners didn’t work or there was an odor in the bedding or you needed more towels, all you had to do was ask. I could have arranged for our cleaning lady to stop by to replace the bedding, drop off towels, or I would have ordered a new vacuum to be delivered within 48 hours. Regarding the lack of a door between the master bedroom and the adjacent small kid’s room, it's because that small room (bonus room) cannot be considered a separate room by code and is not advertised as a fourth bedroom. It is part of the master bedroom, which is why we don’t have a door in between. Our property is rented out for three months straight every summer with only a 5-hour window between renters—just enough time for the cleaning crew to prepare the house. Things can break during the season without my knowledge. If you notice something is broken, simply report it, and I will do my best to fix it. For example, the renters who checked in after you reported that the AC wasn’t working well—something you never mentioned. Despite the fact that the AC system was maintained in May, I had an HVAC technician visit the next morning. It turned out that the condenser unit burned out during your stay, which is why it wasn’t working properly. I had the entire condenser unit replaced (cost $7k) within a few days, which is extremely difficult to arrange in the middle of summer in P-town. The reason I offered you a refund was because you sent me an email right after you checked in, asking where the hot tub was. This was clearly a misunderstanding, as we have never had a hot tub in the house. In response, I offered you a full refund if the hot tub was the main reason you rented our house. You never responded. The next day, around 4 PM on Sunday, you sent another email saying that the fire alarm had gone off, but there was no fire or smoke, and you were leaving. This was clearly a false alarm, but instead of turning it off by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds, as any homeowner would do, you left it on and left the house for hours. I had to scramble to arrange for someone to go to the house and turn off the alarm. Concerned people passing by the house even stopped to check if there was a fire. Fortunately, no one called the fire department, as they might have broken down the door to get in, which would have been very difficult to repair on a Sunday afternoon. This was the second time I offered you a full refund if you wanted to leave, and I would have been happy if you had taken my offer and left. This is not a rental only property managed by a corporation. This house is our home, where we live for six months of the year. We expect our guests to treat it as their home during their stay.
