Open Heart Apt. is an elegant and renovated apartment on Calle San Sebastián in Old San Juan. The apartment is on the fourth floor and there is no elevator, only stairs. Walking distance to beautiful beaches, restaurants, bars, shops and historical sites. Enjoy a stylish and elegant experience in this centrally located accommodation in an unforgettable atmosphere in the heart of this historic city. Parking near the apartment is reserved for residents only during the following hours: Monday to Friday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday all day. Adorable property. True San Juan experience. Very convenient and close to everything in Old San Juan. Very clean, comfortable accommodations. Owner was always available with prompt responses. A few things needed to be fixed… AC blows the fuse so fridge had to be pulled out into the kitchen for access to fuse box. We only stayed one night so that didn’t bother us. Four steep and unlit flights of stairs so be prepared for that going into it. We would definitely stay there again.

A fantastic place to stay in the center of Old San Juan

Everything about our stay was fantastic! The place was amazing, and the location even better. Only thing I would recommend changing would be to have a second set of keys available for use.

Great location in Old San Juan!

Great location in San Juan within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. Only downside would be that there is currently a lot of construction nearby that starts very early in the morning, but this appears to be temporary. We knew it was up 4 flights of stairs, but a couple of the levels are not well lit. Overall the property was very clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed staying here!

Great place to stay in Old San Juan. Location is very convenient and the place is nicely updated. Laundry is a nice feature. Instructions to get in were easy. The back bedroom smelled a little musty when we got there so we just used the front and hall bedrooms. We would stay here again.

Nice place

Stayed for one night on our way to our final destination. Clean, updated place, safe area ,rooms as described. Communication from host was great. Stairs are steep and a little uneven and dark but not a big deal. Music from nearby restaurants was pretty loud in the bedrooms. Host can’t control that but it did make it hard to sleep.

Beautiful centric location

The apartment was as advertised. Super clean and updated. The atmosphere and access to all the different amenities in old San Juan can't be beat. The only thingI woul like to point out is that the apartment is on the 4th floor of the bldg so plan to go up some stairs 😀

Old San Juan Holiday

Pros - Central location in old San Juan. Walking distance to nice restaurants, bars and San Cristobal. Clean. Very attentive manager. Quiet neighbors. Cons- Fourth floor with steep stairs. No light in bottom stairwell. Only one set of keys for locking two doors four floors apart. Only one full bath for 4 to 6 persons. Overall, appropriately priced.

Do not recommend

We arrived at the condo late at night. No lights outside of the building to get lock box open. No lights going up 4 flights of stairs in the dark... no lights coming down 4 flights of stairs in the dark. Very poor and unsafe. Wouldn't want to start your vacation with a broken ankle. Highly do NOT recommend this spot

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Open Heart Apt. in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. For the benefit of our future guests, I would like to confirm what I had indicated to you when I apologized to you for this lighting incident, the person who cleaned the apartment mistakenly and being new to the apartment turned off the lights that illuminate the stairs. Currently, there is a solar light at the entrance of the apartment gate that illuminates the safe, so this situation, which was somewhat out of the ordinary and only occurred the night you booked, should not happen again. Thank you!

Great location, beautiful apartment, but host communication needs improvement

This was the setting for a graduation celebration trip for my two adult sons and I. The physical space was perfect for us. It's in a beautiful, classic Old San Juan 5-flat. The balcony view- especially around sunset with a cold beer or an espresso- is lovely. The location is perfect for taking in the nightlife- with several bars and after-hours places within a 5 minute walk. Unlike many rentals in Old San Juan, there is AC- little wall-mounted ductless units in the bedrooms and living room. It's an old building and it has some quirks. It's a fourth floor walk-up and some may struggle with the stairs. The bathroom has some quirks too- the shower nob kept falling off and you have to run the hot water in the sink to get hot water in the shower. They had these little ants in the front room too. All in all though, nothing all that out of line for a value-priced rental in a classic building in the Caribbean.Communication was a challenge though and led to some surprises at checkout. The checkout instructions were pretty sparse. But the host/management seemed to expect a lot more clean-up than the usual big-picture stuff. They also expected us to pull the trash but did not communicate this. And- with no dumpster, chute, outside cans- it was not obvious where the trash would go. I was hit with an extra 120 charge. This situation could have been better managed with better communication. I would suggest the usual binder with the check-out procedures, emergency contacts, etc.
