Ernest Hemingway a sĂ©journĂ© dans cette maison de charme du dĂ©but du siĂšcle oĂč se dĂ©roulait son premier mariage. Il dispose de sept chambres et est parfait pour une rĂ©union de famille, un mariage ou des vacances en famille. Bien que les zones importantes de la cuisine et des salles de bains aient Ă©tĂ© rĂ©novĂ©es, il conserve son atmosphĂšre dĂ©licieuse. Il y a une plage privĂ©e pour les clients de Shangrila directement sur le lac Charlevoix avec une rampe de mise Ă  l'eau publique Ă  proximitĂ©. SituĂ© prĂšs de Petoskey, de la ville de Boyne, de Charlevoix et de la ville de Boyne.

Sue was a great host
good communication, accessible but not intrusive. Loved, loved, loved the screened porch. Plenty of space for being together. We had a great long weekend. Will definitely be back!

Shangri-la was a wonderful place for our annual family Labor Day trip. The house was great with plenty of outdoor space and all the room we needed for the eleven of us. Proximity to the beach made it even better! Sue was a wonderful host who filled us in on the history of the house and was eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. (The cookies upon arrival were a special touch!) We would highly recommend Shangri-la for your next gathering!

Shangra-La is a beautiful property located in a central area that is convenient for day trips to the many areas to explore in Northern Michigan. We had four older adults, lol, and four twenty-something young adults; two bedrooms were not used. There is plenty of seating indoors, outdoor on the screened porch, and on the deck for your party. Sue and Kiwi were lovely, and gave us tips and information for our stay.

Family reunion at Lake Charlevoix

Close proximity to the lake and golf cart available if needed. Location within 20 minutes of Charlevoix, Petoskey and Boyne City. Sue, the owner, was available and helpful.

Nice break in Michigan Up North (Lake Charlevoix)

Had a very nice week-long stay at an antique rooming house/cottage on Lake Charlevoix in Northern Michigan. We went there because we had 16 and it hit the budget. We were very pleased wi the result! Sue was an gracious landlord. If you want the Holiday Inn, you'll be disappointed. If you want classic quarters, this is it!

Good for the price

Very roomy, serene, peaceful, unable to launch boat due to low water level. Check with Sue before bringing your boat. Water was cold. Good central location to surrounding cities. Ask about designated smoking area. Sue was a gracious host. Made sure all needs were met.

Wonderful place!

This house was very accommodating for our large family! The very large covered porch and outside deck made it so comfortable and roomy! The host was so nice and showed us around her property, telling us its history. I highly recommend staying here!

Wonderful historic get away

We had a wonderful family reunion and there was more than enough seating for everyone. Sue was the best host we’ve had on VRBO and hope to visit the area/rent again soon!

Very Nice

It was a very nice place. It looks small in the pictures but plenty of room! We had 8 adults and 2 children. Loved the screened in porch! The decking around the house was beautiful. We would stay there again!

Perfect for a family.

Amazing place for a large family!

The owner was very accommodating. The entire family loved the house and the area. Everyone enjoyed the water. The history of the home is very interesting and it has been updated and very well maintained over the years. Actually, it looks even better than in the photos. We would definitely stay in the future.

Lake Charlevoix Vacation House

The Lake Charlevoix Vacation House was exactly as advertised. The house was well furnished and the golf cart was great to get to and from the beach. The owner (Sue) was extremely helpful - she always went out of the way to make sure everything was just right.

Gather and Travel with Friends

This was a great place to gather and launch local site seeing. Twelve of us traveled from New Mexico to see and experience northern Michigan with it forests, beaches, and waterways. Great to all gather at one house to share our experiences of the local area and towns. Host was very accommodating and helpful.

Great place for our rehearsal dinner

This was the perfect place for a rehearsal dinner. The porches were so spacious and beautiful. Sue and Kiwi were very friendly and wanted to make sure we always had everything we needed. The golf cart was a nice surprise that our girls used to go to the beach and back. Everything was very clean. Would recommend and stay there again!

Loved it!

The house was an older style but very well kept up. Susan was a great host. The property was nice and the water at the end of the road was great! Very quiet area for peaceful morning coffee out on the deck. We all had a great time.

A true gem!

The property and location exceeded our expectations. It was perfect for our extended family gathering that included kids as young as three and adults nearly 70. Lake Charlevoix is absolutely beautiful and so close to the home. Additionally, Lake Michigan beaches are about a 15 minute drive while Boyne City and Charlevoix are also very close.

Shangri-la

Perfect! 9 of us thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay in this comfortable, historic home. The central location makes visiting Boyne City, Charlevoix, and Petoskey by car a breeze. Speaking of breeze, the large screened porch was a favorite for morning coffee, relaxing mid-day, and for group dinners at the large picnic bench. A small private waterfront beach on Lake Charlevoix, and a general store are easy walks.

Family reunion

We had a wonderful time! The house was better than depicted in pictures. It was spacious and well stocked. The golf cart made the short trip to the lake even shorter. We had plenty of room for outdoor games and we spent a lot of time on the huge screened in porch. Sue is an excellent and attentive host. And we’ve already booked our stay for next year!
