Cozy Laguna Beach Cottage 3min walk to the ocean and 7min walk to the village!

Situated right in the middle of the action, our close-to-everything 1930's cottage has been carefully designed by Jeni Maus- owner of Found Rental Co. Inspired by relaxed beach living. Jeni pulled fun pieces, old, worn objects, and fresh, clean surfaces to create an extremely comfy, relaxed, yet refined, beach house where anyone could catch their breath and enjoy a simpler time away from the hectic norm.
Nothing beats waking up and seeing the beautiful morning light on the ocean peeking through the ginkgo trees. Additionally, sunset from the porch is equally relaxing... or just walk a block and enjoy the amazing sunset on the sand for full immersion!
The backyard is nice sized with two lounge chairs, a fire pit with outdoor couches and a dining area to enjoy meals al fresco- and it's right outside the new kitchen!
Bring bikes to explore the area or simply walk everywhere- no need for a car with this location! Across the street is a grocery store, the village and Hip District are both about Πmi walk for tons of great restaurants and attractions.
Additionally, a block away is a surf and bike rental shop for all your activities- and safely store your toys in the fenced yard or garage.
Laguna has a ton of physically demanding (if you choose) things to do outdoors and the Maus Haus is in the middle of them all. Hiking trails (up on exposed ridges or down in valleys under the oak canopies) are a short drive away - or take the free trolly car to the trailhead! If you're a mountain biker you already know about the Laguna Beach Mtb history of producing a number of top pros over the years- trails range from beginner to expert in beautiful natural environments. Add to these, kayaking, surfing, swimming, snorkeling, etc and you'll go home in better shape and more connected with the earth than when you arrived.
Not-so-active things to do are a plenty as well! We have so many eclectic shops and art galleries in addition to the famous Sawdust Festival, Saturday farmers market, Pageant of the Masters, etc etc.
The Maus Haus has four off-street parking spaces not counting the garage. And there's an outdoor shower to rinse off after an ocean swim!

It’s just stunning!The furnishings, bedding, linens, and lighting were incredibly high-quality and thoughtfully and beautifully curated, creating a welcoming, warm, cozy, and relaxing ambience. Even the kitchen, from utensils to bowls/dishes/glassware to cookware, contributed to the peaceful ambience. The bathrooms/showers with such beautiful tiles and appointments also lent to the special atmosphere. The location was also perfect, with easy walks to the beach and village (and grocery store!). We didn’t want to leave!The hosts were very enthusiastic and easy to work with throughout the reservation, check-in, and check-out process.

Most incredible beach cottage for honeymoon!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Joel's charming cottage for our honeymoon! The property was warm and cozy, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The thoughtful touches and beautiful decor created a magical atmosphere that enhanced our special trip. We loved the location in proximity to Cleo Beach and the Village, which made it easy for us to take in the peaceful surroundings. Joel was an attentive host, ensuring we had everything we needed. We can't recommend this place enough for a romantic getaway! We hope to return in the future.

Charming, comfortable, beautiful!

We loved our visit! This special cottage is lovely and has everything you need to enjoy a Laguna Beach stay in comfort and charming style.The living area is wide and welcoming, a great space to gather and relax, and the home is warmly and beautifully decorated. The ceilings are high, and with more than one entrance and level (guest bedroom and bathroom downstairs, sleeping loft above the living room, plus the main level bedroom and bath), guests can get a privacy too, with the steps between the levels. There are many thoughtful and truly quality touches including handmade stoneware dishes, excellent cookware, comfortable beds and natural linens, plus all the modern conveniences incorporated tastefully while keeping the home's special character and vintage. We were glad to have the ample seating indoors and outside ... our family spread out and enjoyed it all. Every morning we took the short walk to the beach, so close, such a treat. There are good restaurants and shops just a stroll away too! Since we were on a wedding trip and juggling lots of arrangements and excitement, things could have been hectic but Joel and Jeni helped make it easy and smooth. We thank our excellent hosts for always being so responsive and helpful and we hope to visit again!

My wife, Jeni, and I still live in our first home in Fullerton- a tiny 1926 storybook Tudor. Our first second home was a huge property that got a massive remodel. We love it vm but it was a bit far from home. After a few years we sold a got an amazing 1908 Victorian in Santa Barbara. Another big remodel. Not long before that we found the sweetest little cottage in Lake Arrowhead and had to have it.

We have been in love with Laguna since we married here in 1998! We have worked and worked and finally were able to get our own place there- we closed escrow about one week before our 25th wedding anniversary and it’s just around the corner from our venue!

Jenis passion and career is designing spaces that bring comfort and relaxation to those using them.
I love making relaxing spaces outside. Our laguna house will get a landscape redo in fall of 2025 after some bamboo dies.

We’ve rented many short term rentals over the years and not one is up to par with any of ours. Every detail is perfect, we wish to create truly special places and you can’t do that by going cheap. We invest way too much in our properties but we don’t care
