Construit lorsque George Washington était président, notre maison est imprégnée de beaux détails qui évoquent à la fois sa riche histoire et sa proximité avec la mer. Parfait pour les familles multi-générationnelles.
Grande piscine (45 par 22) avec patios en pierre bleue couverte et découverte et tonnelle couverte de glycines, entourée de rhododendrons et d'un jardin anglais. Jour commémoratif disponible-sept. 15 (La piscine est partagée uniquement avec les propriétaires dans une remise sur une propriété adjacente.)

La maison principale peut accueillir jusqu'à 8 personnes avec 2 rois, 1 lit queen et 1 lit double. L'annexe du Writer's Studio peut accueillir jusqu'à 4 personnes supplémentaires et est disponible moyennant des frais supplémentaires.

Dana’s property is spectacular. Plenty of room for an extended family and the perfect location for Cape Ann activities. The pool and grounds were perfect for our kids with plenty to do and lots of wildlife to observe. Dana and her team are extremely responsive to any issues that may arise (we didn’t have any). Air conditioning is available for three of the bedrooms and high powered fans kept the main floor living area comfortable. We had a great vacation.

The house was fabulous. Built in 1790, it has great character. Nicely cared for, furnished with antiques and collected paintings and loaded with family pictures, we correctly felt we were staying in someone’s fine home - not just a house. It easily accommodated our family of 11, including having enough bathrooms so one ever had to wait. Despite its historical elegance, there are plenty of modern conveniences and a great kitchen for cooking. The grounds were also beautiful and well tended. We enjoyed the pool, which was nice itself but made even better by the vine-covered, and hence shaded, sitting area. The kids used the Gazebo to host an elegant wedding of two beloved stuffed animals.The best part was our host, Dana May, for whom the house is her family home. She communicated well and frequently and took care of any little things we asked. For example, we thoroughly enjoyed the giant bird feeder outside the kitchen window, which attracted delightful finches and sparrows. The hungry birds emptied the feeder twice. A quick text to Dana, and the feeder was refilled. We also had a special challenge in that one of our party, my adult son, uses a wheelchair. Well ahead of our stay, Dana facilitated having a temporary ramp put in to access the front door by meeting with the supplier, and she had a door removed and replaced by a curtain for my son’s bedroom to ensure his wheelchair would have access.Finally, location matters. Manchester-by-the-Sea is great!

3.5 Stars. Host was welcoming and amenities were good but it’s an old house and I wish you could use the fireplace. Couches are very uncomfortable and bathrooms are small. Good location next to public transportation to both Salem and Boston.

Yes, our home is convenient to Boston and Salem including Salem’s famous Halloween festivities. Your family’s witches’ costumes were well thought out for celebrating Halloween. Our historic home is an 18th century masterpiece with detailed woodwork and period charm. Guests have called it a mansion. We have six bathrooms and our showers and bathtubs are standard size. By definition, the powder room bathroom by the front door is small. Our living room sofa is stuffed in a luxurious down that most visitors love. If one prefers a foam sofa, our annex has one.

Wonderful family vacation rental

My family and I had the most delightful vacation at this home. We enjoyed our days by the beautiful pool or on Singing Beach just a walk or bike ride away. Our evening dinners were at home where we enjoyed cooking together in the very nice kitchen or at some of the great local restaurants. We hope to return next summer!

Wonderful Home in a Historic Setting

We had a wonderful stay at this home in Manchester by the Sea. It is a lovely old historic home extremely well situated close to town and transportation. It was a wonderful place to enjoy a family reunion with many meals eaten outside by the pool. We were there during an intense heat wave, so the pool was heaven and terrific way to cool down after the day's heat.

Elegance and comfort

The highlight of this property is the large pool! Lovely kitchen for cooking, although we didn’t do that much! Only 2 miles from a beautiful beach.

Great stay

Beautiful property. Beautiful location. House is fantastic, grounds are amazing and my family couldn’t get enough of the pool. Centrally located between Gloucester and Salem. Great time was had by all

Great New England Vacation

Lovely grounds, huge pool, plenty of space to spread out, well-stocked pantry... so many things you don't find in many rental houses. Our multi-generational family really enjoyed our stay. Close to so many small towns and an easy trip into Boston. Dana and her sister Mary were friendly and responsive and clearly invested in us enjoying our stay in their home.

Fabulous host

Dana was the most responsive and informative host we have ever encountered. The property is ideally located with a great pool and room even for a ball game. The home was equipped with every imaginable amenity (even a terrific library.)

Quiet getaway with rich history

We had a wonderful week at this historic property fully stocked with just about everything you might need. The pool was refreshing, and the beach/town/grocery store easily accessible. Dana does a careful job preparing for your visit and lovingly cares for this charming house. She is easily available and flexible. I wish I had known during your stay that the temperature was not to your liking- in our guest book and welcome letter we do ask our guests to request AC if they need it. The weather usually is more temperate and a lot of our guests do enjoy the cooling ocean breezes, bird songs etc.- so we do wait for a guest to request AC. But I’m glad that the pool was excellent and that despite the unusual weather, you had a wonderful time.

Anniversary Celebration

The house had a very historic feel to it. All the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The dining room was quite large, accommodating all adults easily. Kitchen table was a great spot for the kids and playing cards in the evening. The grounds are gorgeous. Having a pool made the spot perfect for the kids. Manchester is a darling town. Singing Beach was a hit with the family.

Great New England Vacation

My family spent a week at the house. More like a mansion, historical and beautiful inside and out. We had a great time at the pool area, traveling to all the nice towns in close proximity. It was a hot week but the air conditioning units and fans helped keep us cool. The property manager was on call at all times and very responsive and quick to resolve any issues we had, which were a few minor. Would happily book again.

Perfect New England Experience

If you want the most authentic New England stay this house is definitely it! It is so big that it will take a day to get used to all the nooks & crannies. But it is the most stocked house I’ve ever stayed. The grounds are spectacular words can’t even begin to describe it. The location & proximity to every is super convenient. 20 minutes from everywhere on the north shore.

An amazing retreat!

This is a lovely, quiet and large retreat in the timeless town of Manchester-By-The-Sea. It is located close to the main highway yet you can’t hear it. Town is less than a mile away and Singing beach a bit beyond. That made for lovely morning walks to start our days. The house was the perfect size for our party of 8. It offers large areas to gather and also smaller rooms for more privacy. Something for everyone. We can’t wait to come back next year!

Annual October family trip

The house was even more than we expected. So close to the darling town of Manchester by the sea. Just a note. If you Uber from the airport you don’t need a car. We wasted $1,200 on a rental car. You can walk to the train station that will take you anywhere you would want to go

Lalonde Family Vacation Week

Beautiful house with lots of space for our family of ten. The kitchen was large enough for all of us to be in there at the same time cooking together, eating together -- cleaning up, of course -- with an adorable nook that was perfect for our grandchildren to play in and be close by. The bedrooms were spacious, plenty of bathrooms, nicely appointed, and very comfortable overall. The grounds were large and park-like with a beautiful pool that we really enjoyed. The property were very responsive to our few requests. We highly recommend this property.

Summer Family Reunion

Our family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful colonial home. Exploring the history of the home and property was so interesting. And the grounds are simply amazing. The trees, bushes, flowers are meticulously maintained, the in-ground pool is pristine, and the location in beautiful Manchester-by-the-Sea is perfect.Our hosts, Dana, and her sister Mary, were always available when we had questions, and she was so gracious with her time and suggestions. There is so much to see-and-do in this beach town. And one evening we all took a fun commuter rail train (you can park at the station which is 1 mile away) into downtown Boston for dinner. And of course, there are the beaches. Singing Beach is the closest and just gorgeous, especially as the sun goes down.I highly recommend this VRBO rental location.

One week vacation in August

It is a beautiful, comfortable house in a lovely setting and a great location. The pool was a huge bonus. The elevator was key, as we had 2 elderly's with us. The near by beaches are beautiful and easy to get to. The owner was very helpful and responded very quickly with any questions. The house is a little difficult to find, especially in the evenings. Waze does not take you to the correct driveway. Overall, it was a great stay!

Mary has worked for the Brookline Public Health Department for 20 years. Married to Owen, an administrator for the Brookline School system, they have two grown children, and a golden retriever. Favorite activities include early morning runs on Crane's Beach and afternoon walks around Black and White beach. We also enjoy kayaking up the Essex river. Mary's sister, Dana, also helps with the house.

This 1790 Sea Captain's estate is infused with historic charm. Stately situated on a beautifully landscaped 4,1 acres, the estate is perfect for enjoying nature and the ocean. With 5,000 square feet the home is both spacious and private. . Close to some the best beaches in New England.
Manchester-by-the-Sea, established 1645, exudes a delightful village charm. It is on Cape Ann, the more relaxed, less crowded Cape. Cape Ann's beauty is recognized by the many renown artists who chose to paint here including Winslow Homer, Milton Avery and Edward Hopper. The area still has a thriving artist community and art galleries. The seafood is among the world's best. Local farm stands are minutes from the house. Excellent restaurants are close by.
Manchester-by-the-Sea has a superb public school system, an excellent library, tennis, basketball and pickleball courts.
We are just over 30 minutes from Boston with its rich cultural heritage and its renown arts institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts. Boston is also easily accessible by train.
From New York: Boston is just 3 and 1/2 hours by Acela or 50 minutes on the Delta shuttle- Arrive in less time than getting to Montauk, and to a much more relaxed pace.

The four acres feature gorgeous gardens, large lawns and a pool. ( Pool is shared with carriage house). The established trees provide for shade and cooling summer breezes. A wealth of birds regularly visit the estate including hummingbirds and a family of wild turkeys.
