Escape to our enchanting 1950s beach bungalow - "Up, Up & Away." Its name derives from the feeling you have while sitting atop of the dune - overlooking the cool, blue water and warm sands of Lake Michigan. This home is perfect for your summer vacation or your getaway during the cooler seasons. Overlooking the beach and within an hour of Chicago, Apple Orchards, Wineries or Notre Dame.

Up, Up & Away is the place to relax and unwind. 

This meticulously updated home provides a perfect blend of vintage allure and modern comfort. Step inside to discover original hardwood floors, a newly tiled kitchen, and four cozy bedrooms offering a haven after your beach adventures.

The elevated deck boasts panoramic views of Lake Michigan in every season, while front and back grass yards provide space for relaxation and entertainment while you grill. Unwind by the Solo fire pit, perfect for family marshmallows and storytelling. The 7-person Sundance hot tub on the lakeside, provides the perfect amenity for your getaway in any season! The house features updated decor, central air, new electrical and insulation, ensuring a safe, snug retreat year-round. 

There are 3 small bedrooms in the cute original upstairs and an additional bedroom with bunk beds on the main floor. The ceilings on the main floor are tall with original wooden beams, and the upstairs ceilings are lower - a nod to the original function of this beach bungalow and simpler times. Each floor has a full bathroom; the upstairs full bathroom is smaller than the main floor. We will even provide a "Maui mat", beach wagon and beach chairs for your days down at the beach. 

A built-in breakfast nook off the kitchen and a four-season porch with floor-to-ceiling windows create inviting spaces to sip your morning coffee or tea while getting lost in the view of the lake or play cards into the night! Just a stroll down the road takes you to the sandy shores of Lake Michigan. With parking for 2-3 cars and unlimited street parking on Lakeshore Drive, this beach getaway promises a timeless retreat for your next vacation. Book now and embrace the charm of lakeside living!

What a view! We have stayed in Michigan City several times through the years, but this house offers the best view we've had by far! We loved spending time on the enclosed porch soaking in the water view. We hope to return. Comfortable beds & furnishings w/well-appointed decor throughout.

Wonderful lake views from this charming house

Location is outstanding - nice views of lake, short walk to beach access (stop #9). Even better, walk to stop #7 and walk in the boardwalk to the beach. House is nicely furnished. Sunroom is fantastic! Highly recommend!!

Perfect getaway

The property was just as listed. Everything was clean upon arrival and all of the items listed were available for our use. The screened porch and the deck overlooking lake shore Drive with a vista of the sunset and the water was perfect. We look forward to renting your property again.

A Wonderful Find in Michigan City

We are just back from a fantastic stay at Kelly and Dustin's property in Michigan City. The hosts have tastefully updated this bungalow to combine the quaintness and details of an older lake home with a fresh contemporary style and features. The home offers plenty of space for for an extended family or a small group of friends--with four full bedrooms, a family-sized kitchen and abundant common areas including a large living area, a dining room and an stunning enclosed porch area. The stand-out feature is the deck, offering a sweeping view of the lake form its perch on the dune. We loved lounging on the deck, gazing at boats on the lake, the distant Chicago skyline and even the majesty of a passing thunderstorm. While we opted to try a couple of the many local restaurants, our favorite meals were cooked on the grill in front of this home and enjoyed on the back deck. Kelly and Dustin are great hosts, responding almost instantly to our couple questions. Overall, our experience might be summarized by my sister-in-law's comment "Wow, you found a real gem here!" We can't wait to return!

My family and I absolutely loved staying at this home. We brought our dogs and they enjoyed it, too! The deck really had the best sunsets. Close to the beach and beautiful property. Really clean and comfortable. Host gave great recs and communicated very well. Especially a good spot for my dad with mobility issues as there were minimal stairs to the first floor with a bathroom and bedroom all on that level. We are hoping to come back next year because it absolutely exceeded our expectations.

We had an absolutely amazing and relaxing stay! The house felt so warm, comfortable, and homey, and the furnishings were beautifully done and really added to the overall experience. Everything felt thoughtfully put together, making it easy to settle in and truly unwind. The box fans in the bedrooms were an unexpected added bonus and definitely appreciated! We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it!
