The Big Wave Beach House is your new favorite home away from home and is just opening up for rentals under new owners. This 3-bedroom home also features a wide-open loft space with two sets of bunk beds - the perfect hideout for kids and teens or a large family.
Situated on the shores of Lake Kai, and a 5-minute walk through Beachwalk Resort to Sheridan Beach on Lake Michigan, this home is perfect for groups of up to 12 guests. Enjoy the fireplace from the comforts of the living room or from the enclosed porch overlooking the lake. Step out onto the sand and walk the edge of Lake Kai to the massive resort pool, splash pad, toddler pool, beach volleyball court, clubhouse, activity dock, or café. Jump in your golf cart and head to one of three resort playgrounds, or park it by the boardwalk path to Lake Michigan. Catch some rays from the second-floor deck lounge chairs with panoramic views of Lake Kai and finish your days with a nightcap by the outdoor fire pit under the stars. Don't forget your pups! The Big Wave is one of only a few pet-friendly homes in Beachwalk Resort.

Stayed here for a bachelorette party! It was great and we had a nice weekend. Just make sure you bring extra toilet paper and paper towels etc. it’s no frills but the view is great.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We chose this location on the lake and conveniently located near the pool and other resort amenities! The main floor rooms guest rooms each had their own bathroom, and it is pet friendly. There were a few maintenance items that needed to be taken care of, mainly the shower door in upstairs bathroom didn’t open and the laundry room accordian door didn't open properly. Staff was very attentive to our needs and helpful!

Fantastic views and resort

Amazing views of the lake all throughout the house. We enjoyed both decks as well as the well appointed lower patio area with kayaks, scooters, etc. Property was not all that clean (carpets, floors, cobwebs) and needs some routine maintenance. Property manager was quick to respond to questions. Great place for our family getaway with dogs

Great fun, wonderful accomodations, a few maintenance issues. Fully stocked kitchen & very clean. Rained the entire weekend, but that didn't stop us from having a good time. Will come back.

The open stairs were a little tricky for the kids, but they loved the included golf cart, the proximity to the small lake/beach, and the boardwalk to Lake Michigan. Each bedroom having its own bathroom was very nice. We had to get the maintenance out to fix the fireplace and it worked for one night and then didn't work again, and two of the bedrooms had ceiling lights that weren't able to be fixed, but we used lamps ok. Overall a nice location and nice resort.

The overall experience was good. The house was described as listed. The amenities were not as described. There was one small bike listed when the listing stated there were three; the kayaks were dirty and the adult kayak was broken; the corn hole game had been left out and the was rotted. The location was great and the house was clean.

This house is at a perfect location. The view from this house is beautiful and perfect for fishing just a few feet away. This house had everything we needed wagon, cooler, games, fire pit, chairs. We brought our dog this weekend and he had a great time...we will be back!

Okay Stay at Big Wave Beach House

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a decently nice stay at The Big Wave Beach House. The house was fairly well equipped, beds and bathrooms clean and in good condition, but felt the general cleanliness left a little to be desired. Ther dressers, closets and armoire were full so there was really nowhere to unpack during our stay. In additiona, the back covered porch floor and furniture were very grimy and overcrowded. The yard was weedy and not very welcoming; I think with a little care it would be a lovely place to stay. But for what we paid, I expected something much nicer. The golf cart was definitely a bonus since it was a fairly long walk to the beach (which was beautiful), and the resort nice enough if a little overcroweded at the pool. Tennis/volleyball courts were a bit of a disappointment; not very well kept.

Part of bathroom door frame gone and towel bar hanging from wall, door difficult to open and close in main bedroom. Door to washer dryer once opened by handyman would not close. Porch dirty,1 of 2 fans not working and sliding door took 2 people to open and close. Outdoor hose not working. Unable to use kayaks due to dirt and non working hose. Large piece of aluminum material left on porch. Pictures do not accurately show what house looks like. Only 3 separate bedrooms. Not even close be worth what we paid. Very disappointed.

I will only mention a couple of things about the property that future guests may want to know. The jacuzzi tub in the larger bedroom did not work. Since we were only there for 3 nights, I did not make a big deal out of it, but it needs maintenance. Also, the loft has lots of beds for kids, but there is no separation between the loft and the downstairs. If you have littles, you will have to play games and party on the screened porch or not at all after their bedtime. The weather didn't give us the warm days at the pool we were hoping for, but I can't blame Beachwalk for that, lol!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our 4th trip and first time in this house. We love Beachwalk. The home had everything needed. We booked it 2 weeks before coming so inventory was low. The home does sleep 12+ however, the loft area is really not so good if you have younger kids and adults want to stay up. Some of the beds were very wobbly and the bunk bed was one of them. Did not feel safe. The master shower is a bath tub and leaks everywhere and looked moldy. Not every good set up for dinner with a larger group. Only 2 beach chairs were provided. But overall was a nice home but I would say should be a smaller group.

Beachwalk & our rental were perfect

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beachwalk resort was perfect for our family of 8 's vacation. We enjoyed the resort amenities:pool, kiddie pool & splash pad,cafe,volleyball, tennis , basketball & pickle ball courts, ping pong, fishing, kayaking and paddle boating all within steps of our house. The golf cart that came with the rental made every trip just that much more convenient. Lake Michigan was a 5 minute walk from our rental or a 2 minute golf cart ride. The beach was pristine and the lake was clear crystal blue. The Big Wave (our rental) was perfect 4 bdrm, 4 bthrm was just right. House was update. Tv in each bedroom. Supplied with board games and beach toys, umbrella, lg cooler and plenty of beach towels. Beachwalk staff were quick to respond to a few minor needs we had. They were always polite, friendly and knowledgeable. We offer the highest recommendation to stay at this resort. For us it was a 3 1/2 hour drive that was well worth it.

Disappointed

For what we paid, it wasn’t worth it. The house wasn’t clean. The carpet had big stains, and our bare feet would get dirty after walking inside without shoes. There were cobwebs in the master shower, and hair on the outside of another shower when we arrived. We were excited to check in, which had to be done in person, and they told us information about the property such as trash day, and cost if we lost a wristband. After reviewing all of our charges, we were charged for 4 wristbands and parking when we made the reservation. (Not sure why the parking fee, when we parked at the house.) They did not mention how to use the free amenities, or that they were treating the pond with chemicals. Thank goodness a kind neighbor came to tell us after my kids were swimming in Kai pond, since they had told the residents not to swim while it was being treated. That would have been helpful to know when making the reservation. As much as I love the area, and this location, we were left disappointed! I thought it would be justified since a golf cart was included and our 5lb dog could join, but not now. Disappointed to have been excited to do activities advertised that weren’t available, and have a dirty house for what we spent.

Reviewer Comments: Pluses: the location on the lake was great, the bedroom, bathroom and loft arrangements worked well for us, the screened porch overlooking the lake was nice, we were a family of 12 and felt comfortable in the accommodations, the kids used the kayaks a lot, thanks for the golf cart, short walk down the boardwalk to the pool and common areas, Minuses: when you pay $1,000 dollars per night you're entitled to certain expectations, the house was shopworn and disorganized, a lot of differed maintenance throughout, filthy carpeted steps at the entrance, bedroom closets and dresser drawers filled with miscellaneous stuff, the 2 way fireplace was a mess...better maintenance and organization was expected for the price we paid. I wouldn't recommend this rental at the price charged.
