This was a perfect vacation headquarters for our family of five. The view from the deck was beautiful. Trip highlights included 1) kayaking the sea caves, 2) ferrying to Madeline Island, 3) hiking in Big Bay State Park, 4) visiting Houghton Falls, 5) eating ice cream at Sweet & Salty, and 6) getting pizza from Manypenny Bistro. We also got to see three black bears foraging in the backyard!

We had a lovely time. The place is well furnished and had everything we needed. The view is great, especially from the deck on a clear morning. Host was communicative and friendly. Instructions and house rules were straightforward and simple. Would definitely recommend.

The house was perfect to share with friends on our vacation to Bayfield. It was fully stocked with everything we needed. The views were spectacular, it was a tad bit early for the colors but the weather was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Shady Pines Retreat

Shady Pines is a private and peaceful setting with beautiful views of Lake Superior. The house was immaculately clean and nicely appointed. The host provided clear and accurate instructions for our arrival and answered all our questions promptly. It is the perfect place to enjoy Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Gorgeous fall getaway

We loved this property for its location and space. We started every morning with coffee on the deck, looking at the beautiful leaves and Lake Superior. The kitchen had everything we needed, with modern appliances and plenty of room for the things we bought. It was great to have so many places to hang out, including a screened in porch, living room and basement. The beds were comfortable and towels were soft. Kevin was very responsive, answering my questions and providing restaurant and hiking recommendations. It's only a 5 minute drive away from Bayfield and access to boat tours and great restaurants. This place and host are terrific!

This is a lovely house nestled in the woods of Bayfield, WI overlooking the south shore of Lake Superior and access to the Apostle Islands National Lake Shore. It was the perfect abode for our adult children, their spouses, and our toddler granddaughter. The view from the dining/living room and deck is spectacular. We enjoyed mornings and evening on the deck listening to birds and other wild creatures and gazing at clouds, water, arbor, and the light of the night sky. The house was clean and functional with quality beds. The driveway was large enough to accommodate 3 vehicles. The kitchen had all we needed for cooking and eating. The only glitch with this stay was that the air conditioner went out. The VRBO owner did offer to send an HVAC repair person when we texted him about it; since we were out exploring each day after breakfasts we decided not to deal with being there for the repair person. We highly recommend this lodging if you have a group that needs a well furnished, equipped, clean, and conveniently located place. Next time we want to spend time in this area of Wisconsin we’ll put this place on the top of our list to consider.

I reside 1.5 hours away but make every effort to visit Washburn/Bayfield frequently even before we owned the cabin. My wife and I, married for over six years, are parents to two toddlers aged two and four.
We fell in love with this cabin and the Valhalla Valley views.

With a background in sales, we ventured into hosting after acquiring this cabin. So far, it has been a rewarding journey, filled with wonderful interactions with our guests as well as some amazing personal experiences.
