Hatteras Island newcomers who want to be close to amenities but crave solitude will fall in love with the Surf Shack & the safe Town of Avon! Plenty of history, coastal charm & conveniences, but with a geographical location more than 20 miles off the coast of mainland NC! The Surf Shack is centrally located in town & well furnished to provide several areas to retreat to both inside & out! BONUS - beach access located at the end of the street with no major roads to cross! And an EV Charger!
The space
Walk up one flight of stairs to a large south facing porch. Enter thru front door leading you into an open concept living room with electric fireplace, dining room, and kitchen. Take the hallway down to a hall bathroom and twin bunk beds. Continue down hallway to two more bedrooms: one queen bed with slider door that leads onto North facing porch. King bedroom has a slider door as well leading out to porch as well as an attached full bathroom!
The house is lifted extra high so the ground level under the house is a lovely place to retreat with some shade! BONUS - there is a game room located at ground level with card table, couch, TV, arcade game, etc. Basketball for your enjoyment outside, a hot tub, AND an outdoor shower!

Guests have access to the entire property except for locked owners closets.

*For those with an electric car there is an EV charger on the property! 220 Volt Tesla Universal Charger works in any electric vehicle!

*Discount to OBX local favorite restaurant!

*Should you want to experience the Northern Beaches - Special Discount for our guests on beach rental supplies & set up between Duck to South Nags Head! Any Questions - please ask your host!

House was very clean when we arrived! The outdoor area allowed for us to enjoy the night time and watch a few storms roll in. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Single-Family Getaway

This is a great property for those looking for an OBX property that isn’t ginormous. Definitely an updated older beach home, with nice updated decor. Under-house entertaining and game room were nice features. Host is highly attentive. The property is next to a somewhat busy road on one side, but that also allowed for easy access to walking trails. Beach was a very short walk and didn’t involve crossing any roads. We had a great time.

Celebration of life visit

Stayed two nights for a celebration of life for my husband. Got to show his brother the island and things he loved. The house was everything the website stated, the host communicated a great deal, and there were even nice little extras someone would appreciate who came with a family. I took full advantage of the swings. 😀

Second time

(I gave this property five stars before because I slept in the queen bed.). The game room is nice and things have been added just in the last two months. I was robbed (my vehicle) and the owner was willing to come put up cameras so I think she is willing to invest in her property. This time I slept in the king was horribly uncomfortable. So much so that we vacated a day early because it was painful on our backs. The flooring is also rapidly disintegrating because it’s much worse than it was during my stay two months ago
