This was an ideal house to attend the Horicon Marsh Bird Festival. Be ready to walk down a kind of steep hill to the cozy new well-stocked cottage with a great kitchen & bathroom. There is peaceful outdoor seating on the river to watch still more birds. Go to the Blue Heron Boat Landing for the best Blueberry Muffins ever! Mary knows all the best places to go. Thank you!

It’s a sweet little spot! Very cozy and kept very clean. Was expecting it to be more secluded than it was but other than that it was a good place to stay!

This was my first year staying at Rock River Retreat and it definitely won't be my last. Mary's communication was prompt and she greeted me upon my arrival. The boathouse was clean, fresh and stocked with everything I needed for my relaxing 4 night stay.

Mary is amazing. That little cabin had all new updates and was nicer than some hotels we've stayed at. We throughly enjoyed our trip, hiking the marsh, and the wonderful town of Horicon. Leroy Butcher, Ice Cream shop, 1850 bar, Mothers Day restaurant...some nice places we visited.

Cabin getaway

The property was quaint and very clean. Very tastefully decorated and stocked with everything you need. We enjoyed watching the white pelicans on the water. Beautiful setting.

What a view! River front property to sit and watch the water and birds. Amazing attention to detail by the owners. Fire pit with wood, kayak w/life jacket, grill. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pans and COFFEE! Always love seeing that offered. Biking/hiking and restaurants nearby. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to just relax.

Great Experience!

The place was beautiful. Very high quality finishes / interior. Communication with Mary was excellent. Proximity to the marsh was awesome. We went Kayaking on the marsh and hiking at Ledge county park which were both within 8 minutes. Awesome time!

This bungalow was very nice and efficient! The owner provided many additional items which I found to be a big plus. If you fish, catfish on night crawlers by the point to the left of the dock. Caught many 10-12", and 3 over 20". I would highly recommend staying here for a quite, peaceful getaway!! Thank you Mary!!!

Relaxing retreat

We are an older couple who needed a quick getaway between medical appointments. Mary was very kind and communicative without hovering. She helped us move our supplies in and out over the smallish incline between the boathouse and the parking spot. The boathouse was immaculately clean with lots of windows so we could enjoy the view even though the weather was a bit cool for us to be outside much. The kitchen has very modern appliances and is well laid out for the small space. We were comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay and hope to return as we are able.

Perfect getaway for relaxation!!

Our weekend retreat was wonderful! We booked our stay for 2 nights. The host promptly reached out to see if we had any questions beforehand and was very responsive and helpful in making our stay stress free. The location of the Boathouse Bungalow is tucked away from traffic and on the Rock River. Lots of water frontage for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, etc. The area of the river is so large and peaceful, you'd think it was a lake! The entire property is very well kept, inside the home has new appliances and very clean. The electrical switches were clearly marked to prevent confusion, decor was very appealing, and kitchen/bathroom stocked with linens, dishes, utensils, etc. We spent the majority of our time outside veiwing the Rock River and enjoying the beauty of nature. All in all, we're very much looking forward to rebooking our next getaway at the Boathouse Bungalow and cant wait to enjoy another relaxing, much needed stay!
