The outside door was hit or miss accessibility as you are instructed to ring any doorbell and when someone responds you are to tell them you forgot your key. The space was unlocked in a multi-dwelling bldg. 2 of 4 beds were not clean sheets. The tub was not appealing. The wash cloth on kitchen sink was stained. The table and one chair had crumbs. It was listed as a Brownstone!

Where do I start? The place was unkempt part to the house was literally disgusting. The furniture looks dingy, dirty. The tub has stains in it. The walls look like they haven't been scrubbed. Parts of the kitchen tile is coming up. It's a tripping hazard, the sheet on one of the beds was stained. Let's not even get to the 4 flights of narrow winding uneven steps. The steps dont even look or feel up to code. One high step then one short step. You can't get your full foot

This is a large apartment, converted from two bedrooms to three bedrooms. Overall large and spacious. Unfortunately, only one bathroom. There is no elevator and this apartment is on the 4th floor with some steep stairs which make going up and down a bit challenging. Not the cleanest, found some hair clumps on the floor in some areas, humid towels in drawers (probably from a recent wash) and the kitchen was not very clean. Several knives were placed dirty into the wooden knife block, several dishes and silver wear were dirty and needed a wash. Toaster oven was dirty also. Overall the location is nice, it's near Whole foods across the street and close to a subway station. This apartment is in Harlem, people were vey nice and we felt safe, but the door buzzer system is a bit unsettling since if you ring someone they will buzz you in without asking any questions. Overall nice place, reasonable price, just be prepared for what I mentioned.

Location...great. Spacious...great. Cleanliness... TERRIBLE! My family walked into a extremely dirty home. Trash left in the trash can. Floor not swept with hair, dirt, dust throughout the place. Leftover food in the refrigerator with stains on the refrigerator shelves. Dirty pots and pans. Sheets not changed/clean. Couch had crumbs on it. A tray of food was under the couch. Toilet had pee stains. Bathtub wasn't cleaned. Unsure if mold was on the walls or not. TV was not working. Front door was loose and didn't close completely. No toilet paper or paper towels available. The kitchen floor had broken tiles. We had to spend our vacation money to spend our first few hours cleaning the property ourselves. My children wanted to leave but we didn't have any other place to go. This place could be the best but it needs a serious upgrade or update. For what we paid overall, it's not worth it. The pictures online reflect what it could be. It is noticeable the pictures were touched up to make it look presentable. If there was a way to receive a partial refund, I would gladly accept it.

Horrible appartment

Upon our arrival, we were shocked by the number of rats around the building where the apartment is located. While crossing the sidewalk, my children were approached by two individuals offering them drugs.Climbing the stairs to reach the apartment was difficult — the staircase is likely not up to code and is very dangerous, with narrow steps.When we entered the apartment, we were stunned by its condition.Broken tiles, kitchen cabinet fixed with scotch tape, accumulated dust, a kitchen table sticky with grime
 One of the beds had stains and hair in it, as if the sheets hadn’t been washed.It was a very bad experience that forced us to find alternative accommodation at 11:30 PM.I would like to point out that we are simple people who have traveled extensively across five continents.Fortunately, VRBO took care of the situation and was able to issue a refund.

Spacieux et bien équipé

Chouette appartement spacieux et Ă  3 minutes du mĂ©tro. SupermarchĂ© juste en face.NĂ©cessiterait cependant une meilleure isolation des fenĂȘtres car trĂšs bruyant la nuit, et la douche compliquĂ©e pour l’eau chaude sinon bien Ă©quipĂ© en vaisselle.

Le logement avait une odeur dĂ©sagrĂ©able ainsi que dans les chambres du dĂ©but jusqu’à la fin du sĂ©jour. Un bruit de ventilateur permanent de jour comme de nuit ne nous a pas permis de dormir dans La chambre cĂŽtĂ© cuisine qui donne sur une cours intĂ©rieur, c’était insupportable. Par contre le logement est hyper bien situĂ©.

Long weekend

The location and size of this property are its best qualities. We needed space for our teens and a kitchen. This place is good size for New York City. The surrounding area felt mostly safe. The kitchen was equipped and plenty of bath towels. Very easy access to the 2 subway and grocery stores. Carmen let us check in early which was very helpful since we flew a red eye. The property itself is a little run down and was not the cleanest. I had to sweep the floors upon arrival, etc. There are 4 flights of stairs that are steep and uneven. You need to be able bodied to navigate them. No check out instructions were given.

The best, as easy mass transit, plenty of room with four beds! CARMEN was very accomodating for arrival and departure. The only drawback was the four flights of stairs but we climbed them!

Adorable apartment!!!

I wanted to take my 13-year old twins and 77-year old mom on a Christmas Vacation. It was my twins first trip EVER and my mom hasn’t been to New York in ages. There is simply no better time to visit than Christmas. With my twins being on The Spectrum and also have sensory processing disorder, we need a kitchen to cook and space for all to decompress when needed. This apartment was PERFECT! It is abdolutely adorable and provides a real New York brownstone experience. The apartment is on the 4th floor and the stairs are small and steep. Just be prepared when you are moving luggage up and down. They were manageable, though! The location is perfect. Not only are you right across from Whole Foods but also a close walking distance from Target, CVS and Trader Joe’s. You can access anything you need during your stay! The 2 & 3 subway station is also right by the apartment so access is quick and simple. I would have rated 5-stars but communication with the host was the only struggle. Receiving check-in and WiFi information was not sent the promised 24 hours in advance. I had to PUSH for information while in route from the airport to the apartment. Also had to request WiFi later that day. As long as YOU make sure to have all information well in advance, you will love youelr stay in this apartment!

Steep steps

Overall once you got to the apartment it was nice. We had to climb 60 steep uneven steps to the 4th floor and we are in our 60’s. This is not a good place for those not in great shape. The kitchen needed to be stocked with spices, a drawer with foil, baggies, misc things needed for cooking. Lastly there was dark black animal fur on everything. Probably someone’s dog so if anyone has allergies I would not rent this.

Not as pictured

Some things you don't want seen in pictures...HEAVY dirt on the floors, pink mold growing on the tile in the bathroom...a dirty washcloth hanging in the shower from the last guest??? Moldy coffee grounds left in the coffee maker... I communicated with the property manager when we noticed how poorly the property was kept clean. It appeared that one has mopped or even swiffered the floor in weeks. I asked to have the cleaning deposit refunded but was only offered to have the cleaning company sent out. That should have been done before our arrival. There should have been no issues with cleanliness to property. Other than that, she was gracious enough to let us check in early on our first day to drop off our luggage to get to a business meeting. We however did not stay on our last night due to cleanliness...would not recommend due to cleanliness of place.

Great location for heading downtown

This fourth floor walk up is a colourful and convenient location, right by the subway and WholeFoods. The property has character, including quite steep uneven steps to it. Given the proximity to Lenox Ave expect some noise in the roadside room. The check-process could have been smoother with the wrong address listed, the owner not accepting calls and / or being very responsive on text. Relying on the friendly people sitting on the doorstep to let you in, added to the excitement! It would be good if the WiFi details could be supplied in the email or a piece of paper for guests. All in all was a good stay, but travel light!

Harlem's Gem

Our recent stay at this gem in Harlem was a pleasant surprise! We wanted to have the authentic, cultural experience of staying in Harlem, and this brownstone offered us just that! The home is beautifully decorated and stocked with all the essentials you will need for a stay in NYC. The home is right across the street from Whole Foods, Marshall's, and CVS. It is near the subway which is important if you plan to visit other parts of NYC. There are so many Harlem highlights close to the home including the Apollo theater. We walked to the world famous, Harlem Breakfast Club where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. There are many eating establishments within walking distance of the home. Carmen, the host, was kind and extremely attentive. We had one incident with the shower, and Carmen had it immediatley fixed. In addition, she was very responsive to all my questions and happy to assist while we were preparing for our trip. If you want to have an authentic, yet comfortable and fun experience in NYC, I recommend this Harlem gem!
