It was very nice to leave the beach and ride the elevator up to the quite well-appointed unit. Easy in and out of the building and to and from the pools and beach. Very nice having a large private beach. Exceeded our expectations and we will be back.

Been to silver shells about 3 times before Unit was good very well stocked We think the theme is way to much for this condo Would be better if living room had two couches. The decor is just to big for it. Very clean , bedding great, pools are great also. Will be back if they change furniture or will go to another unit. Thanks to the rental property for keeping in contact with us to make sure all was good

We Will Be Back!

Wonderful condo with a great view! We really enjoyed staying at Silver Shells. The complex was very nice, amenities were great, and the condo unit itself was wonderful. We liked how the elevator opens straight into the condo, although if you have multiple families staying together it is a little challenging sharing elevator keys. The unit was clean, updated, and had a great view. The check in process was fairly simple. You do have to go offsite about 5 minutes away to retrieve your keys but that detail was so minor. We had a family emergency occur while staying down there and the property management was very accommodating and helpful to make our stay easier. We’ve gone to Florida often for family vacations and this unit and complex was one of our favorites! We will be back.

Family Vacation

The condo we stayed was very beautiful and the beach did not disappoint. The company Five Star properties were very accommodating when my grandson got sick in our bed. They had a cleaning service there within an hour after I called. The company that runs the beach umbrellas were very nice, but they wouldn't let up put an additional umbrella up for the children. Their umbrella was just not big enough, this is my only complaint. I would book this condo again but not through VRBO. The 12.5% fee the charged was ridiculous.

Truly beautiful Condo

This condo did not disappoint!! It was huge, comfortable and well appointed. The views and amenities were top notch, and I would highly recommend staying here. The only reason it didn't get a 5-star overall rating was because the "check-in" process was a little wonky...you have to drive to a different office to pick up the elevator fob/bracelets, and for someone who's Ubering everywhere and not familiar with the areas, it adds an additional cost and anxiety. The appliances were very "streaky" ; we also found used contacts on the sink in the Master Bath (multiple) and Maintenance had to come fix a few things, but they did get fixed. Again...overall a beautiful place and I would stay there again, it's just that at that price point I guess I'd expect it to be extremely clean and would recommend altering the check-in/ check-out process to make it more stress-free.

Wonderful view!

The property is just as it looks in the pictures. The view is spectacular and the accommodations are great. We loved that the kitchen was well stocked with all utensils and dishes you need for cooking. The beds were comfortable, which is important to us. The decor is tasteful for the style it is. We had trouble finding our elevator to get to our condo. The staff was great about stepping and and helping. Truly delightful! You do have to drive to the property management office to get your keys. We knew that ahead of time. But, we were driving to Destin so it wasn’t a problem for us. The two cons I have are very minor. The furniture is large in size and it made it a bit hard to move around it, not a lot of room. And the rug under the dining room table and bedroom was uncomfortable to walk on when barefoot Overall, we loved it and can’t wait to go again!

nasty needle

sliding glass doors were not clean still had kids handprints from the previous renters. it was all adults in our party so we knew they weren't from us. Jacuzzi tub in Master Bedroom was nasty , my wife filled it with water and turn the jets on and this black dirt and film was in the water, so we drained and did not end up using the Jacuzzi!! They also had some sort of special range top that required a certain kind of frying pan to be used with it and failed to have that in the instructions! also had other pans there in the unit that did not work with the stove top. Here's the worst of it all, I had drop my ring on the floor in the master bedroom and it rolled under the bed, when I bent down to get my ring there was a used syringe (needle) laying under the bed . After calling the management company for a week they offered me a 100.00 CREDIT !!!!! Really ??? This didn't even cover what they charged us for the cleaning fee which was not acceptable.

4th July Destin trip

Beautiful place, clean, great location, listed for sale for 1.8 million, however this unit has no ice maker. I’ve been to Destin every summer for 20 plus years. I’ve never rented anything that did not have a simple ice maker inside the freezer. Imagine paying top dollar for a weekly rental via 5-star rentals and having to go buy ice to make an ice tea! Extremely disappointed in 5-star rental’s response, with several run arounds, and excuses. My feeling is that there was a portable ice maker in the owners locked closet, but they didn’t send anyone or arrange anything to help the situation. They didn’t care enough to do anything except write me a text message apology. Not “5-star” service in my opinion. Also, the 2 of the 3 ceiling fans couldn’t be used since they made squeaky noise and would keep anyone with normal hearing awake at night. They need to be changed out. The 3 key cards given to us to get you into the room were not programmed correctly to get us into the building or parking garage. So every time we tried get into the building, we spent time waiting for someone to exit so that we could get to the elevator into our room. I originally thought it was just my card, then I found out the other 2 keys didn’t work properly. I asked a maintenance person on the property and he told me that it’s wasn’t programmed correctly for the weekly stay. At this point, I didn’t have the patience to reach out to “5-star” since I was focused on spending quality time with my family.

Beware!

We have been coming and staying at silver shells for years! This was by far the worst experience ever. First and foremost, we are traveling with kids and you can’t check in at the property.. you have to drive an additional 20 minutes for the convenience of the rental company and pick up keys from them instead of them bringing them to you or them simply placing a lock box on property like everyone else does for the convenience of their guests. Then, you have return the keys on the day you leave so you have to struggle to leave your place about 30 minutes earlier (because of going their and back) to make it in time for the airport. The management office is wayyyyy out of the way and not on airport route which may have been a bit more tolerable. The unit itself is horrific. The amount of furniture Is beyond anyones wildest imagination. That’s not the worst part, to be fair this was all visible in the photos so we should’ve expected that but nothing, no amount of photos can ever prepare you for the quantity.. the worst part was all the forest sized “plants” that were FULLLLLL of dust.. God forbid you touch them accidentally, you’re inhaling dust for the near future. My son has asthma and was suffering tremendously from the dust. The master bedroom bed should qualify as crime against humanity. I’m not exaggerating, it’s quite literally tilted and the worst sleep you will ever have. Old noisy and just awful. All in all we felt like we needed a vacation to recover from this trip. The good news is, you will very much appreciate your bed when you return home if you make the mistake of staying here.

Not a 5 star property

Im very disappointed about the condo unit. It definitely isn’t 5 star. Upon arrival as soon as walking in you see a couch that is dirty and faded. The master bed mattress is wore out and very uncomfortable. The condo was not cleane. I found that out after I dropped a drink on the floor. The Lysol wipe I used to clean up the sprite was black. Floors weren’t cleaned before we came. When we went to turn on the TV we couldn’t. We opened the remotes and there wasn’t any batteries. We went and bought more.

Nice condo on 11th floor, St Maarten of Silver Shells Resort. Resort was not crowded or loud. Good parking. Great gulf view. Great beach access and nice big pool. Resort was family friendly. Unit was as pictured, clean and comfortable. Liked that elevator opened to unit. Condo is a bit cluttered with oversized decor. Cons: cannot use your own beach umbrella/ cover. So if you want shade you have to rent their 2 beach chairs and umbrella for $60/day. Resort does not have recycling.

Beautiful property

Checking in is a bit of a hassle; especially for those have never been to Destin. (My family and I). The check-in location was a few minutes away, but we had to go upstairs and find a certain lock box and get our items out of it with a code. Then go to our room. Although I believe the check-in process could be easier, maybe allow the security guy to give your items as you come in the gate, our stay was amazing! Being on the 11th floor; I was incredibly nervous; because I am claustrophobic, severely. However, the elevator was so smooth and quick that it didn’t bother me at all the entire week. The parking garage has one parking spot then you get on your elevator that takes you directly to your room! The room was very spacious. There were 5 of us and was more than enough room. My husband and I had the ocean and beach view. I could literally lay in the bed and see it all perfectly. The furniture is beautiful, though there is a lot of it, make this place all the more glamorous. Walking distance to the Sand Bar and Ruth’s Chris Steak House, which we enjoyed an evening since it was our anniversary. Their umbrellas are $60 per day to rent; however I had forgotten that this place does come with two chairs and 2 boogie boards which are in the garage in your parking spot. I would absolutely stay again and plan to. I have only very few complaints. One thing I didn’t like, is how the balcony is connected to both our room and living room. This made it incredibly difficult for my husband and I to get any real privacy from our kids because if we had our door locked, they could just come right in from outside. lol I couldn’t get that sliding door to lock. Also, we do some cooking when we’re on a weeks’ vacation, there is no strainer (colander) at all. Making spaghetti was a little challenging. However, they had everything else we needed. We paid 6K for this room after fees etc, and I had to go out and buy pods for the dishwasher and trash bags. I feel that with what we paid, we should have at least been provided these things for the entirety of our stay. However, this is more of a minor detail and does not deter me from wanting to come back! Security on this property is spectacular. While in the community pool, a gentleman told my children he could drown them. Livid, I called security immediately after this guy said that to them and they told me. The security guy came right out and instantly took care of this issue. The stay was incredible!

Very Dirty Cluttered Condo

The view from the condo was amazing. The pool and the beach were great. Having a waitress at the pool and the beach to get food and drink from the beach bar is a nice feature. The thing that really made this a condo we won’t return to is the cleanliness and attention to details. Upon check in, we noticed the floors were filthy and covered in sand. The bottoms of our feet were black within just a few minutes. We used a chlorox wipe to wipe the floor and counter tops and they were filthy. There was also a very bad smell coming from the sink and the dishwasher. We called the management office and they did send someone over right away to mop the floors and clean the sink. After they left we continued to unpack and get situated. We started going through the cabinets to see what kind of dishes the condo had. We pulled out several pots and pans that had food caked on them. Don’t know if they had been washed or not but they were very gross. We used a Brillo pad on them and then placed them in the dishwasher but noticed there was water pooling in the bottom. Maybe this was where the smell was coming from. We checked the drain and noticed there were several pieces of broken glass that were preventing the dishwasher from draining properly. We removed the glass and the water drained. Later we turned on the garbage disposal and it did not run properly. We shined a light inside to see if we could see anything and noticed there was something in there. We stuck our hand down the drain and pulled out a white dish towel that was now yellow. This was the source of the foul smell. It must have been there for a while. The coffee maker also had a water filter that I pulled out that I don’t think anyone ever changed. It was coated in a half inch of black mold and slime. The air conditioner quit working mid week, the washer leaked, tv remotes had dead batteries, refrigerator filter needed replaced, batteries in thermostat were dead. The place has potential but if I were the owners of this condo, I would fire the cleaning and maintenance company. We paid way too much money to have to deal with all of these issues in a week. I would also recommend removing some of the clutter to open up the space. It just collects dust making it seem even dirtier.

Great view/ fun location

The property was fabulous. The room was super fussy with very bulky furniture. Not super kid friendly in style and amount of stuff. The over all layout and accommodations were lovely. The view was absolutley perfect. It was very easy getting from the 11th floor to the pool and a very quick walk to the beach. The pool was heated and so great for adults and kids. The hottub was also fun. It was an added bonus being so close to the Backporch to grab a quick bit to eat or a drink. I would recommend! The check-in process was not our favorite. Finding the office space and getting the keys was difficult. If that could be onsite or you could access with a code I would have zero complaint!

Gorgeous Property! Wish we had known only one parking space provided in garage. Check in location is 5+ miles from Property! Those were literally the only negative things about our stay!

EXQUISITE!

This is one of the best condos we have stayed at. Kitchen is very well equipped with what you need to cook. Including coffee maker. The decor is exquisite and ornate.

We loved the ambiance of Maison Par Leau. It was so different from our norm that we enjoyed the environment more. Without a doubt a "unique" property. Beautiful and welcoming!

Italian Riviera Accommodations in the Gulf of Mexico/Destin, Florida

Wow!! Words do not do this place justice! I have stayed in a lot of condos in Destin over the years and few have this kind of exquisite decor. My college age son had some friends ride down and spend the first night with us in our Condo until their's was available. They could not quit talking about the decor! They were really amazed with how they got all the large paintings and mirrors up the elevator. It truly is one of a kind and fit for royalty. We truly enjoyed ourselves and felt like we were in another city while in our room. The condo was very clean and well kept. The service if needed was always prompt and very courteous. We love how the elevators come straight to your condo. It makes things so easy!! The property is very well maintained and you feel like you are at a resort. The pool is enormous and the hot tub is spacious and beautifully redone. The beachfront property is large and there are plenty of chairs to rent on the beach. There is beachside beverage and food service and you can eat right on the beach at the restaurant hut. There is an indoor pool as well and workout facilities with plenty of cardio equipment and weights. You can play tennis on four courts or if hoops are your thing than there is an outdoor basketball court (which my sons and daughter love). There is also a Ruth Chris Steakhouse on property that you can enjoy by simply walking to it. The infamous Back Porch restaurant is truly almost next door-- great for walking to at lunch or dinner. Truly this is a great condo and property. It is in a great Destin location-close to so much. We stay here most every time we visit Destin because it has everything our family likes to do in one location. Thanks Maison Par Leau for a great spring break!! We will return!! Only one request which may be impossible because we know a lot of condos do not have them- tankless hot water heaters!!! Will definitely help when everyone is getting ready at once and you still want to enjoy a jacuzzi bath at the same time!! It will save tremendously on hot water bills!! just a thought!
