Talcomb Maison De Vacances à Thornthwaite Keswick

Talcomb est une base idéale pour les couples ou les familles souhaitant explorer le Lake District. Le chalet a 2 chambres et 4 couchages. Talcomb est un chalet confortable dans un endroit paisible avec un joli bec babillant qui court à proximité. Keswick, Cockermouth et Carlisle sont tous à moins de 20 minutes en voiture de Seldom Seen. Keswick est un bourg animé qui abrite de nombreuses attractions touristiques, notamment le théâtre au bord du lac, le musée du crayon, les parcs, les galeries et les musées. C'est l'endroit idéal pour les pique-niques d'été sur les rives de Derwentwater ou pour admirer les vues spectaculaires depuis le sommet de Skiddaw, Latrigg et Helvellyn. Cockermouth est une ville pittoresque célèbre pour sa connexion avec le poète William Wordsworth et le brassage de Jennings Real Ale. La capitale de la Cumbrie, Carlisle vaut bien une visite, située au centre de l'Ecosse et de la Northumbrie, elle offre de nombreuses attractions de l'agitation du shopping et de la vie urbaine, à son château historique et à la cathédrale de Carlisle.

Talcomb est l'un des six chalets convertis à partir d'une scierie à eau construite vers 1740. Il est situé au pied du Seldom Seen Ravine dans le hameau calme et bien nommé de Seldom Seen, à la périphérie de Thornthwaite Village. Talcomb est niché à côté du pic surplombant une cascade scintillante avec vue sur Coomb Beck et la forêt Winlatter. Le village de Braithwaite est à seulement 1,6 km, où vous pourrez visiter l'un des pubs de la campagne ou dîner dans l'un des hôtels ou des bars. Keswick est à seulement cinq kilomètres et propose de nombreux magasins, pubs et restaurants.

A lovely quirky little cottage, this was our third time at this property. The village is just so pretty and has excellent views.There was a new kitchen since we had been last which has everything needed for self catering.Very clean house and the host was lovely and accommodating.

Fabulous quiet location

The cottage is cosy and warm, everything we needed. Great being able to walk straight into the woods with our dogs. Great location. The double bed was a bit uncomfortable, maybe a better roper would help, other than that it was a perfect little house. Would definitely stay again.

The cottage was very comfortable. Older style but renovated kitchen & bathroom. Very warm and cosy lounge & nice bedrooms. Main bedroom bet is quite big for the room but nice to sleep in. Ideal location for exploring the Lakes region

Comfortable, cosy and clean cottage in Lakeland countryside

This cottage is perfectly functional. The decor is definitely tired but if you don't mind things a little rough and ready you'll be fine. The setting is gorgeous and property is conveniently positioned for walks to Braithwaite and Whinlatter Forest, and a short drive or bus ride from Keswick.

Excellent two week holiday

This was a lovely property, in a quiet location. It was great exploring the area - even the weather was lovely! A small improvement would be to have a "manual" for the property - cooker and washing machine instructions and perhaps indications on local facilities although we sniffed out the lovely Jaspers Coffee shop in Braithwaite and the Ivy house for our special birthday celebrations. The foot-stool has a wealth of "attractions" leaflets and maps for walks; there was a plentiful supply of board games and jigsaws and DVDs - but we can't believe the weather in the Lake District could ever justify them!!! Great - just what we needed.

Great compact cottage

Great find, we have booked to come again!! Loved it. We stayed as a party of 4 adults. Everything we needed was provided, well equipped. Bit snug for 4 adults, as bedrooms are small. However it does say this in the information. Stairs are very steep, but this is also listed. Fab location, able to walk the dogs straight into the Forest. No WiFi but we did manage to pay for a hotspot for £8.00 per day. Parking not a problem. I think this will be one of our favourite cottages to return to, such good value. Booked again whilst we were there.

In need of some improvement

When we arrived we found the property had not been cleaned. We had to leave the property for this to happen. We were really upset about this considering Covid and the risk of catching it and the distance we had travelled. It would of been nice to have the offer of a complimentary coffee at a cafe while we waited! The description says there is patio furniture. I don’t agree with this, it is a broken park bench in the car park. There is no outdoor/ garden area for this property except the car park. This is not written on the description. The shower was broken and held together with a plaster which wasn’t doing anything, this meant we had to hold the shower head to have a shower. I did ask for this to be fixed but got no reply to my message. The double bed is noisy when you move just a little in it and not very comfortable. The kitchen cupboard had a broken handle and some of the wood was broken. The whole house is tired and in need of some loving care. Apart from the above the property is in a beautiful location and we enjoyed making the most of the area and walks around us.

I am really upset that when you got there the property had not been cleaned, as you were aware I contacted the cleaner and due to an issue with her previous property she was running behind and was unable to telephone and let me know. I contacted you to let you know this and offered you to be able to buy some outside chairs and I would refund you the money I also asked if you would leave the key but I don't believe you must have received the message. Due to you not being able to make use of the cottage within the first hour we offered you to be able to stay on for an extra couple of days but you were not able to make use of this benefit. Quaint & a little quirky!

Comfortable cottage, very convenient for most lakes. Downstairs toilet & shower and the double bedroom is indeed very small & a very tight fit! Storage heaters worked fine & electric shower. Good value for price charged and would happily book again.

Nice cottage

Everything you need lovely location, shower to high to step into would help If it had a grip handle. Stairs very steep, could do with hand rail at the bottom right hand side. Be better if smaller bed in the double bed room,, a divan would give more room, as it was hard to get into the bed.. should mention in the description.that the stairs are steep, and the shower is high to step into for people with walking difficulties

Gute Ausgangslage zur Erkundung der Region

Die Lage ist schön ruhig direkt am Wald. Schon direkt vom Haus aus kann man mit Wandern in die Region einsteigen.Keswick ist in 10 -15 Autominuten gut zu erreichen.Preisleistung für das Haus passt gut.

A nice cottage in a nice Lake District village

My wife and I with our 5 year old son enjoyed 4 nights in Thornthwaite. Q A lovely village close to Braithwaite and Keswick. The cottage had all we needed. Set in a pleasant village with lovely views over the surrounding area.

pleasant and well sited

provided everything we wanted from our stay with the added bonus of excellent weather and the proximity of Keswick town, walking routes just in front and behind the property though not crowded. Loved sleeping with the open window and falling asleep to the sound of the small stream adjacent. Would definitely recommend and will look to book again, hopefully soon.

3rd time staying at this property.

It's a pleasant cottage to stay at although it is a little tired and is in need of a little TLC. It's warm and clean and all linen and towels provided are of good quality. Suited to a couple or a family of 3. 4 adults would find it slightly cramped. Great location for the northern fells and access to Keswick and Cockermouth.

Base for walking

The property is extremely clean and comfortable and as described. We thoroughly enjoyed and it is an ideal base for walkers. The nearby pub The Royal Oak in Braithwaite serves good food and is within 20 minutes walk. We would not hesitate to recommend.

Great property and amazing location

This house was just right, all you hear is the beautiful brook running by, watching the red squirrels from the bedroom was just magic. There are so many walks and runs you can do direct from the house. The one issue we had at the house was resolved within a few hours by the owners, they were so very helpful. Yes the double bedroom is a bit of a squeeze, but the other bedroom is a good size, with plenty of space downstairs. Easy parking for the one car.

We Have owned this Cottage since 1995 we bought it as our parents booked it as a holiday and loved it therefore when it came on the market we bought it.

We love coming to the cottage as it is so peacefull, we love to go to sleep with the windows open and listed to the beck. We love the fact you can go for walks right from the door and love the many restaurants and pubs in nearby Braithwaite and Keswick
