Modern Torch Lake Retreat: Speakeasy, Hot Tub, Sauna, Golf Sim, Arcade & More
YOUR NORTHERN MICHIGAN ESCAPE
Welcome to The Wild Pine, a thoughtfully renovated 4-bedroom cabin built for group getaways near Torch Lake. Whether you're planning a family trip, milestone birthday, ski weekend, wedding weekend, wine country escape, or summer lake vacation, this is the kind of place where the house becomes part of the trip.
Mornings begin with coffee in the cathedral-ceiling great room, sunlight filtering through the pines. Some of the group heads to Torch Lake's turquoise water just minutes down the road, while others take over the indoor golf simulator or fire up Pac-Man, Big Buck Hunter, and air hockey in the arcade. Afternoons bring pool table tournaments in the sports bar, cedar sauna sessions, and snack prep in the chef's kitchen.
Evenings settle in by one of the two fireplaces or disappear into the hidden speakeasy, popcorn machine running, 100" screen lit, and your group together. By midnight, the hot tub crew is out under the stars, the karaoke lounge is at full volume, the fire pit is glowing in the yard, and a poker tournament has taken over upstairs.
Rain, snow, or sunshine, The Wild Pine is designed to be the cabin you do not want to leave.

Mother’s Day
Everything was set up real nice and completely clean. Nice amenities. There was a few issues we had with the property:1. Hot water flow was very inconsistent and would go from lukewarm to warm.2. Could have had a better quality dish soap, it was very difficult to clean cookware, no grease cutting.3. Could have used additional kitchen towels.4. Water pressure needs to be increased.5. Could have used some throw blankets for watching movies.I seen there is some work being done on the property, I could be of help in this area as well as correcting the issues mentioned. Our daughter lives very close. The space worked very well for our dinners and lunchin. Thanks,Jim

Perfect Weekend Away
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this lovely property for a short weekend getaway, and it was exactly what I needed for a peaceful and rejuvenating break. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how serene the area is—surrounded by nature, yet close enough to explore local spots. The house itself was a true gem—cozy, inviting, and impeccably clean. What I loved most was the feeling of being at home. The living room was so comfortable that we spent hours just drinking, chatting and playing board games. The kitchen was well-stocked, which made it easy to prepare food (bring Baileys!) The outdoor patio was another highlight. We spent some time in the evening enjoying wine as the sun set over the lake. Looking forward to experiencing more activities on the lake when the weather is warmer. The hosts were incredibly thoughtful and responsive. They made sure we had everything we needed and even gave us great recommendations for local hikes and activities. It’s clear they care deeply about creating a welcoming space for guests. For a relaxing weekend away, this property was perfect and I would absolutely return!

À propos de l’hôte
Hôte : Sarah
Hi, I'm Sarah! Welcome to The Wild Pine.
When my family was searching for a place where we could gather, slow down, and actually be together, we kept finding cabins that almost worked, but never quite delivered. Plenty of beds, never enough character. Pretty pictures, but missing the things that actually make a getaway memorable. So we created Wild Pine to be the cabin we wished existed.
Every weird and fun detail in this house exists because we wanted it for our own family weekends. The hidden speakeasy with a 100" theater screen. The cedar sauna and hot tub for the post-dinner crowd. The karaoke lounge for the friends who can't be talked out of singing. The indoor golf simulator for rainy afternoons. Pac-Man and Big Buck Hunter in the arcade for the kids (and the adults pretending to be there for the kids).
I take hosting personally. When you message me with a question, I respond within the hour, every time. If something isn't working, I move quickly to fix it. If you need a local restaurant recommendation, I have one. If you want to know which orchard makes the best cider donuts, I have an opinion (it's King Orchards, but Friske is doing the lord's work too).
Wild Pine isn't a rental property to me. It's the place I'd want my own family and friends to stay: every detail considered, every comfort thought through, no corners cut. I'm so glad you found it, and I hope it becomes one of those places you find yourself wanting to return to.
Welcome to The Wild Pine.
— Sarah
Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement
There's a stretch of Northern Michigan that doesn't get the attention of Traverse City or Petoskey, but it should. Central Lake sits at the heart of Antrim County's Chain of Lakes, where Torch Lake's turquoise water meets some of the quietest pine forest in the state. We chose this corner of the region for a few specific reasons.
First, the lake. Torch Lake is two minutes down the road, and it's consistently ranked among the most beautiful lakes in the world. Most cabins claiming Torch Lake proximity are 15 to 25 minutes away. Two minutes means you can run to the beach for a sunset without making a thing of it.
Second, the forest. Wild Pine sits tucked into a stand of tall pines on a private dirt road, the kind of setting that makes mornings feel slow and nights feel hushed. Deer wander through. Owls call at dusk. The closest neighbor is far enough away that you'd never know they were there.
Third, the year-round payoff. Most Northern Michigan rentals come alive in summer and go dormant by November. Not this area. Shanty Creek, Schuss Mountain, and Boyne Mountain are all 35 minutes or less for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. Snowshoe trails, snowmobile routes, and ice fishing spots sit even closer. Even in February, this place delivers.
Fourth, the food and drink. Mammoth Distilling for cocktails. Cellar 1914 for wine. Shorts Brewing for beer. King Orchards and Friske Farm Market for cider donuts and pies. The Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail and Old Mission Peninsula are both within reach for tasting weekends.
Fifth, the pace. This isn't a touristed strip. The nearby towns (Bellaire, Elk Rapids, Charlevoix) are real working communities with great restaurants and no pretense. Traverse City is a 45-minute drive when you want a city day. The rest of the time, you're somewhere quieter, slower, more yours.
Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique
Most cabins force you to choose: polish OR personality. Sleek design OR things to actually do. Wild Pine refuses that tradeoff.
The first thing you'll notice is the design. Every room is intentional. Cathedral ceilings and morning light in the great room. A stone fireplace anchoring one living area, an electric fireplace surrounded by deep velvet seating in another. Earthy greens in one bedroom, plaid in the next, a hand-stitched wall hanging in a third. It's a cabin that looks as good in person as it does in the photos.
The second thing you'll notice is everything you can DO here. We didn't want a beautiful house that everyone got bored in by day two. So we built a serious amenity stack:
A hidden speakeasy with a 100" theater screen and popcorn machine. A cedar sauna. A private hot tub on the deck. A karaoke lounge with disco lights and a real microphone. An indoor golf simulator (casual play, perfect for rainy days). A sports-themed bar with a 65" TV and pool table. An arcade with Pac-Man, Big Buck Hunter, and air hockey. A poker room with a real felt table. Two fireplaces. Two fire pits (one gas, one wood-burning). Outdoor lawn games. A chef's kitchen built for actual cooking.
The point: rain, snow, or sunshine, your group never runs out of things to do. We've had guests rained in for three days straight leave saying it was the best trip they'd taken in years. We've had groups arrive in February when the lake was frozen and barely go outside, the cabin was that cozy. We've hosted milestone birthdays, wedding weekends, family reunions, ski escapes, and corporate retreats: each one in its own way.
What makes Wild Pine unique is that it works for every kind of group, every season, every weather. That isn't accidental. It's the entire reason we built it.
