Great place for a 2-week stay in NYC. Check-in process was spotless. Communication with property owner was flawless. Location is quite a distance from Brooklyn DT and Manhattan, however it was not an issue for us given that we are familiar with the city and that there is a close by subway station.

About four blocks from the subway, half an hour from Manhattan, right across the street from a park, several grocery stores nearby. We’ve stayed in Brooklyn/Queens many times and this apartment was right for the price. It is a working class family neighborhood, not fancy, but we liked it. It is a typical apartment setting, you can smell cigarettes from other apartments and the building next-door is currently being renovated so you will hear that during the week. There is an opening to the basement, but it is all locked up and didn’t bother us at all. It was a perfect stay for three days of getting out in the city and coming back to a safe, clean place to sleep. Would recommend.

This is a roomy place for any vacation rental you'll find in NYC and I give it five stars almost all the way across the board. The price was also pretty reasonable.Pros: the property is located on a lovely, tree-lined street across from one of the many stunning NYC public parks. The rooms are comfortable and when you stay here, you get the feel of living like a local - I lived in BKLYN for several years and speak from experience. Some others who reviewed complained about the check-in app, but I had no problems with it, and the owners were super accessible when I had questions. The local culture is incredible - something most visitors to NY don't get to see when they stay in hotels in midtown. Also, if you want to shop like a local, stop into one of the stores located near the MTA station.The cons: as others stated in their reviews, you might smell cigarette smoke on occasion from upstairs - the unit is located in a two-family house which apparently has cross-ventilation. I stayed over a weekend and was awoken on Sunday morning at 7 by a toddler running around crying upstairs, and someone was running a vacuum up there by 8. The MTA trains are not super close - I'd say it's a 10-15 minute walk, but there are MTA bus routes along the way and transfers are free.Overall, I would stay here again.

This apartment was just as described. Very clean and had everything we needed. Host was very responsive to any questions. Easy walk to the subway which was great since the point of our trip was to spend our time in the city. Worked out perfectly!

Looks a lot nicer in the pictures, and the pics do not show the outside either. The house is just worn and shoddily put together in general. The sheets, blankets, and bath towels were all very old, worn, and stained. The soap containers were not filled. It was cleaned but not well.Electrical outlets, tvs, etc not placed for easy use. Oddly, the one lamp next to the bed still has a very old tag on it. Some basic work would make this place a much more comfortable stay.

Amazing Stay!

The location was absolutely perfect—everything was within walking distance, eliminating the need for a car. With nearby shops and eateries just a short stroll away, convenience was unmatched. The property itself was cozy and exactly as described, providing a comfortable and inviting stay.A special thank you to our host, Eli, who was incredibly responsive and went above and beyond to accommodate any request. His hospitality truly enhanced the experience. Additionally, the neighborhood was exceptionally quiet, making for a peaceful and relaxing stay.I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend this Vrbo to others. Thanks, Eli!

Misleading listing – we left after 8 hours

We booked this stay for Jun 20–22 but left after the first night and checked into a Marriott instead.– The unit smelled like cigarettes and had burns on the floor– Moldy floors, bugs on the walls, and a sketchy open basement with just a railing– The “HappyGuest” check-in system felt scammy, though we were able to get in with a basic lockbox– AC didn’t work, and the place was hot and uncomfortable– The photos made it look much cleaner and more updated than it was– No parking info provided—our car got towed, which cost us 300– The block felt unsafe. There were people blocking the sidewalk, doing car repairs, giving off strong intimidation vibesWe didn’t bother contacting the host because it felt like a lost cause. This is not a family-friendly listing. It should be priced at a third of what it costs, if listed at all.Don’t be fooled by the pictures or defensive replies. We’re just a normal military family passing through and looking for a clean, safe place to sleep with our kids. This wasn’t it.

Updated, Spacious Unit - Recommend Messaging Owner for Exact Location

Eli and his assistant were excellent communicators throughout the booking process and stay. We did not need to reach out for any issues during our stay. The interior of the unit is updated and aesthetically pleasing. The upstairs neighbors are likely smokers and the smell does permeate the unit. We bought Glade plug-ins which eliminated the smoke scent. The upstairs neighbors can be heard walking but were silent during sleeping hours. I would highly recommend just messaging the owner for exact location of the unit. I am not sure if this is a VRBO thing since it was my very first time booking on VRBO but the unit was actually located further away then I initially thought based on the listing. I booked this with intention to walk to Prospect Park to run the NYC Half Marathon and I ended up having to take a Lyft because the walk was too far. The neighborhood is unfortunately not very clean but otherwise quiet and we felt safe walking in our group.

***Message prior to booking to confirm location with host***Booked because location on VRBO showed it was near Brooklyn botanical gardens, once booked we got a series of messages that the property was a completely different location, pictures of the interior matched but location shown on VRBO was deceiving, it was located in an entire different neighborhood and further away from downtown than we wanted. We still had a good experience here with 3 exceptions:Constant smell of cigar smoke, or burning, not sure if units above or next door smoke but it was pungent.Entirely exposed downstairs unit with no door, not sure if there was an entry point elsewhere but we did not explore to find out.Living room was useless, there was no privacy as the window blinds were completely torn off and lots of neighbors looking through their windows across, also another door located next to said exposed window which we could not confirm its safety as far as locked mechanism.Otherwise appliances were in good condition, bathroom was clean, rooms were cleaned, served our 3 night stay purpose as we did not stay in unit longer than 5 or 6hrs per day(sleeping only)

Holiday stay in Crown Hts

This rental was the only one available in our price range for the holidays. I believe we were the first guests, which is probably the reason why it didn’t feel ready for guests yet. Overall, an ok stay. Pros: location is about 2.5 blocks from the 2/3/4 subway stop. Washer and dryer in unit was very convenient. Shower water was hot. The neighborhood was ok for us. Extra details: the unit has radiant heat that is much hotter in the back room than anywhere else. No baking sheets for oven. No fan and there is some street noise. No darkening covers for windows, bright motion detector lights go on/off all night. The floors were not very clean, no mat at front door. No waterproof covers on mattress. The key pick up location originally sent to us was 20 blocks away from the rental unit. However, after further instruction, we were able to go straight to the rental. Thank goodness! The address listed through VRBO is different than where we stayed. There was a lot of trash on the patio that had come out of the trash cans. We did not meet the hosts. The host was very responsive via text.

An overall dissapoinment

We selected this property for its location based on the map on the Vrbo listing...near Nostrand and Dean in Brooklyn, in the neighborhood where other family members were staying. We were informed that days before traveling to NYC, that the property was in a different area of Crown Heights, near Utica Ave. and Empire, and that check-in would be done on an App...a bizzare functioning app called "Happy Guest". I filled out all the info and was informed that our "check-in" instructions would show up on the app at 4 PM on our check-in date. When we tried to get the instructions, the app said that our dates were not valid. We called Vrbo and the host, while standing in front of the apt., and got a code from the host's "assistant". After getting into the apt. we immediately noticed the smell of gas. We tried to find the source but was unsuccessful. We called the host's "assistant" and he said he would "send somebody out" to check it. He came the next day, looked around and couldn't find anything. But said there was definitely a gas smell. My wife said "why don't you use a soap and water solution on the gas lines to check for bubbles?" He didn't even know about that. He did it and found nothing. He told us that the apt. was vacant for 3 weeks, and that's why it smelled of gas. Seriously? My son told us to call 311, but we were concerned that we would be forced to leave by the Fire Dept. So, we stayed with all the windows and door opened at all times.

L’appartement est bien mais je n’arrivais pas Ă  me sentir comme chez moi (la dĂ©co est lĂ©gĂšre, l’allĂ©e de la maison n’est pas entretenu et le devant de la maison n’est pas propre). À l’extĂ©rieur il y avait quand mĂȘme pas mal de bruits (les murs sont vraiment fins). On entendait les pas de la personne qui vivait au dessus.
