Authentic “Old Pawleys" at its soulful best, this nearly 100-year-old reclaimed beach bungalow has been restored to its former glory of simplicity and charm – along with many modern conveniences.
On a slice of Pawleys running 300 feet deep, this low-rise beach front home on the north end boasts a private laid-back setting nestled comfortably between rolling sand dunes and a cedar cove.
Two screened porches provide essential outdoor living. The farm-table eating porch adjacent to the kitchen is perfectly situated to enjoy sunset suppers within the embrace of a stately live oak. The dunes-side porch has a rocking chair sitting area within the sound of the surf.
The short staircase to the first floor of this two-story home provides easy access to all the common areas, including the kitchen, sitting room and laundry area, plus two of four bedrooms and a full-size bathroom. On the second floor are two more bedrooms and a half bath. Be prepared to draw straws for the top-floor bedroom with spectacular ocean view!
Additional features include two outdoor showers, beach chairs, shaded parking betwixt and between the cedars, and private path to the beach. This comfortable home, suffused with abundant natural light and suitably appointed for its vintage profile – complete with crooked floors, promises a magical island-living experience from a bygone era.

HOUSEKEEPING / LINENS: All short-term stays include departure clean service, bed and bath linens, and beds made upon arrival.
BEACH ACCESS: A private path to the beach includes a boardwalk to the first dune and continues with a footpath over the second dune. For those who wish to avoid navigating the dune, one of many public access ways is located only six doors down at the corner of Atlantic Ave and Third Street.
LENGTH OF STAY: Saturday to Saturday weekly stays in summer. Partial-week stays may be considered for last-minute bookings.
DOG FRIENDLY: This Dog Friendly home invites you to bring the whole family. Guests are responsible for any damage caused by their dog. Guests bringing a dog must make it known at the time of booking and pay additional rent. Maximum 2 dogs. Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach during daylight hours.
PAWLEYS ISLAND: Generations of vacationing families, originally drawn by the rejuvenating salty sea air, now find the signature charm and casual character of the island just as alluring. We loved this Pawleys Island historic beach house which is full of character and charm. The owners are to be commended for bringing this one back to life. Well equipped and a great location on a silky fine sandy wide beach. One small caution..Those with mobility or balance issues will need to be attentive when making their way over the dunes. The upstairs, downstairs bedroom arrangement made for great privacy for family members. Owner was over the top responsive when one small and short-lived mechanical issue happened. The house was wonderfully reminiscent of the beach house we stayed in as kids and this trip made for some great memories.

The Pawleys Island/Litchfield Beach area is known locally as the Waccamaw Neck. Pawleys Island, known for its “arrogantly shabby” character, encompasses Litchfield but has its own beach – and island – where it splits away from the south end of Litchfield Beach. The relaxing ebb and flow of the tide sets the pace of our Lowcountry coastal region of South Carolina where getting on Island Time comes naturally.

It is also home to the only accredited zoo on the Carolina coast, where you will see rescued native animals in their natural habitats.
