We spent a wonderful three nights in this charming, cozy retreat in the Berkeley hills. Our gracious host gave us impeccable directions and instructions and the property library included references about the area. The freshly ground coffee made our first morning very easy! The kitchen was excellent. It included a coffee maker, kettle, full size refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. Decor and furnishings throughout were bright and attractive. Water pressure for the shower was excellent, and the bathroom has dual sinks in the vanity. The path to the property has motion sensor lights as well as hand railings so that arriving and returning in the dark is safe. We felt right at home, safe and comfortable. So relaxing - we hope to stay here again in the future.

Maggie was very quiet and left the place in decent condition. She did seem to smoke a little but luckily not so much to set off a headache. Despite inquiring if she needed anything or had questions or concerns I had no communication and assumed she was happy.

Perfect retreat

This property is light and comfortable and well laid-out. A full kitchen, a deep soaking tub/jacuzzi with a strong shower, a comfortable double bed, and an open living area with sliding doors out onto a private deck. This is a great place to stay.

Alix was an excellent hostess. Beautiful garden, ideal for meals outside. Cozy and comfortable. Beautiful area. We stayed for 17 days and really enjoyed it!

Loved my stay in yr home

Alix has a beautiful home on a quiet , dead end street. Very comfortable for one or two people. Has a lovely deck overlooking private back yard. Hope to return there again. Highly recommended!!

Wonderful quiet neighborhood

I stayed with 3 of my nieces (7,12 and 13) for 2 nights while we visited Point Reyes during the day. It was the perfect place to crash after I wore them out daily at the beach.

Peaceful Oasis

My son enjoyed a restful stay over Thanksgiving. He’s from LA and was so happy to relax in this special spot. The host is excellent and very friendly. Checked in periodically to see about any needs. This is a real gem!!

Quiet Secluded apartment

This property had a nice secluded entrance at the back of the property down the stairs and behind a gate. The back yard was beautiful, and the apartment got plenty of natural light in the morning.

Only positive comments on this lovely, well provisioned apartment. The private deck is sunny, the apartment is airy and the kitchen is easy to cook in. I spent two weeks here and loved the neighborhood with two local small grocers, a delicious pizza restaurant, bakery and a very short ride, or lovely walk, to a main drag with everything you would want. I hope to be back!

Peaceful and practical

This is a lovely lower level apartment situated above Kensington Circus. The host is very helpful and responsive. The layout provides plenty of privacy and is ideal for an extended stay, including working remotely. I loved the patio and beautiful light in the space! The apartment has a very functional and well-equipped kitchen, nice full bath, and comfortable bed, too.

Lovely 2 day stay

My kids and I had a lovely 2 day stay at Alix's Kensington home. It was clean, bright, lovely, and quiet. I took the beautiful bedroom and my kids slept on the pullout sofa. I loved the color scheme and the beautiful tiles. The deck is sweet as well and we planned to eat every meal out there but the bay area was very chilly when we were there but it would the perfect place to eat. Thanks Alix!

Just right!

Quiet, clean, decorated tastefully in fun colors. We enjoyed our short stay at Alix's place, and will look forward to going back in the future. Her friendly communication made us feel welcome and free to ask her about anything we needed. Everything was clean as a whistle, and we appreciated the quiet neighborhood vibes which included an occasional chicken cackle, as well as a distance train whistle. Very nice for a first visit to the Berkeley area.

Safe day and night, tranquil with friendly professionals and families, literally a few minutes from kite surfing, golf, hiking birding and world class theater, art, restaurants, nightlife. Public transit options abound, great biking is right outside. A little further are famous California beaches, including the site of Mavericks surf competition, whale watching, bay cruises. The Bay Trail is minutes away with spectacular views of SF, three bridges, sailing. Multiple golf courses are nearby. UC Berkeley campus is fast and easy access, SF, Marin, the peninsula, the Napa and Sonoma valley wine country are easy and quick road trips, and more.

The two story floor to ceiling windows, sliding doors, and the layout add to the spaciousness even as it feels tranquil and cozy. The large private deck overlooking a huge garden with trees and peeks of SF downtown and Bay, add to that. Indoor -outdoor life, very California, in a setting that is so private and soothing. If one has a car, parking is super close, free and easy. The electric fireplace, jetted tub, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom double sink vanity, two closets, extra storage space add to how the place works whether a quick trip or long term stay. The lockbox make this a completely private experience.
