I was attending a conference in downtown San Francisco and needed a quiet place to unwind each evening. This charming Berkeley cottage fit the bill perfectly! It offers a lovely blend of vintage character and modern conveniences. It is also less than a 10-minute walk from the North Berkeley BART station, followed by an easy 25-minute ride to the Moscone Center area.Andreas was a wonderful host who made sure I had all the comforts of home. The neighborhood is safe, quiet, and full of Berkeley charm—I felt comfortable walking to and from the BART station even after dark.The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals, the internet is fast, and the bed is comfortable. The shower has plenty of hot water and great water pressure, there are cozy throws for cool evenings, and opening the windows creates a wonderful breeze on warmer days. The cottage also offers computer and TV access, although I am not an Apple user and did take full advantage of some streaming channels.Andreas will tell you the backyard is a work in progress, but it comes with a visiting cat or two who may reward a few moments of patience with their trust! I only wish I would have had more time to enjoy the outdoor space (both front and back).Skip the hotel and give this delightful cottage a try. I am glad I did!

Great location and our second extended stay at this home. It represents a good value, and we would select this home again in the future. It is an older home with a few quirks, but my wife and I find it comfortable and charming. Walk to the shops and restaurants on 4th St. or head off to the Monterrey market for the fresh veggies and fruit. Its location has proven to be great for our uses.

Host was awesome! The place is super cozy & beautiful. The driveway isn't suitable for parking and the bathroom is very small but overall I totally recommend it. If you're going to the UC Berkeley campus tour, it's perfect. You can walk to the local shops & restaurants, all the way to the university!

We really enjoyed our stay. Very helpful communication, easy check-in/out, and the place was very clean with thoughtful/practical touches. Plenty of towels, easy to use the kitchen, good water pressure and wifi, and very quiet and comfortable at night.

Comfortable, great location, good communication with host. If guests are looking for a place to have breakfast or lunch, we highly recommend Leila’s Cafe, just a five minute walk.

Great location

The Vrbo is in a great location. It’s about 4 blocks from the North Berkeley BART station and is an easy walk to a coffee bar and bagel place on one side and a bakery on another side. The bed is comfortable, the water filter quite amazing, plenty of towels, a usable outdoor space and easy in and out.

Great location with shopping nearby. Actually, the city is pretty easy to get around. Kitchen was amply stocked, plenty of linens and comfy beds. I would add that if you have difficutly with mobility the front of the house has a steep drive that might be difficult to manage. Loved our host-helpful and considerate.

We were quite disappointed. Reading other reviews it was hard to believe we were talking about the same property. Access to the property is difficult, especially for seniors. There is no sidewalk, but just unevenly placed paving blocks set in a steep hillside. The stair rail is not as shone in the listing photo, but has been cut off so as to not be covering access to the bottom two steps. That along with the uneven pavers caused one of us to trip and nearly fall down. I doubt that it is OSHA compliant. The kitchen is poorly stocked with what looks to be leftover condiments and spices from prior guests. There wasn’t even a salt shaker. Multiple electrical plugs were connected to outlet splitters. There was leftover food items in the fridge/freezer. The property was stocked with only one industrial roll of toilet paper and one roll of paper towels. The in-wall gas furnace had dirty grills and did not work when the thermostat was turned up. The living room had only one couch and no chairs (we brought chairs in from the kitchen table). What appeared to have been an earlier dining room, lacked a table and chairs but had a odd looking bed-like cushion up against a corner wall and certainly not a place to entertain guests.The host provided an informational paper shortly before check-in that pointed out a few of the properties “features” and short-comings. The view out the side windows was of a boarded up adjacent home. We did not even bother to go into the back yard.

Dear Robert. First I would like to say that I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. And please allow me to add some comments regarding your concerns. Please remember, that we are renting out our personal property/ home. It is not a purpose built VRBO hotel of any sort. We acknowledge that. Our house is old and has shortcomings and quirks. It is furnished in a way that we think is appropriate and we liked it when we lived at the house ourselves. The photos here on the property profile DO accurately show the property. There is even a specific picture regarding the uneven driveway/ entry as well as the stair/ handrail. And yes, there are spices etc. in the cupboard - but there is NEVER any unfinished food left anywhere. Possibly you found a few cans of unopened soda in the refrigerator? Yes, we do leave those when we find them to possibly be enjoyed by another guest. Regarding the gas furnace: is typical for this type of home and it is fully functional via the thermostat (checked). And lastly, we think OSHA may be helpful with regards to workplace safety. Kind regards.

Charming, comfortable, well-equipped, great location.

Three adults visiting family in Berkeley and SF had a very comfortable, convenient one-week stay at this rental. The host was a great communicator. The location is a short walk to BART and many good restaurants. Nice neighborhood. We would happily return.
