Located in the heart of Canaan Valley, West Virginia, Black Bear resort is the perfect location to enjoy the mountains, rivers and recreation of the area.

Set on more than 40 landscaped acres, there are sweeping views of Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Cabin Mountain and Timberline ski area. The resort is located on Canaan Mountain at the north end of Canaan Valley between Blackwater Falls State Park and Canaan Valley State Park. It is only four miles from the town of Davis, WV. Dolly Sods, Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob and 900,000 acres of Monongahela National Forest are nearby, offering endless possibilities for outdoor recreation and scenic beauty
any time of year!

Peaceful, isolated, beautiful location. We would definitely love to return and spend more time exploring the area and some more relaxing down time. Room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay.

Perfect stay, minutes to Timberline and Canaan Ski resorts! We’ve been making day trips to Canaan Valley for skiing for three years now, and this was our first time staying in the area. Black Bear Resort is nestled in the valley with a stunning view of Timberline, the room was spotless, the en-suite jacuzzi tub was much needed after a day on the slopes, and the bed was comfy with lots of extra pillows and blankets available. Check in was a breeze, and we were able to quickly drop off our key this morning in the drop box before heading into Davis to grab breakfast. 10/10 would stay here again for our next trip!

Weekend getaway

The whole resort is beautiful! Check in and out was very convenient! The room was everything we wanted the jacuzzi tub, king size bed, and balcony were amazing! Great location we visited black water falls state park while there!

Suite 133 was lovely, spotless and perfect for our short trip to the area. We did not use the pool, but it looked nice. Just a note-if you have mobility problems, you need to climb in the jacuzzi tub to access the shower. The water takes a bit to heat up, but it eventually does nicely. I would recommend this suite for anyone wishing to explore the beautiful areas of WV.

Memorial Day weekend

Enjoyed our stay. Host was easy to communicate with. Large room with comfortable king size bed. Bathroom was clean and lots of towels provided. Great Bear Resort is a nice property.
