We were a group of 6 and this place could not have been better with the space and amenities. Very comfortable accommodations and meticulously clean. It was not a problem getting to our activities in the city and we appreciated being away from the more touristy areas to stay. We were not able to get into one of the many recommendations for dinner in the neighborhood to experience our surroundings fully during our short stay - if we were there longer I’m certain they would have been amazing. We were able to find a good dinner spot and did a food tour that covered all our needs! We had a blast in Athens and at Atelier Dionysiou! Highly recommend if you are looking for a high end experience at a reasonable price!

Absolutely gorgeous apartment! It was about a 50 taxi ride from the cruise port and very walkable to bus stops for easy access to the town center. The owner was incredibly accommodating with our requested early check-in for a minimal fee.We had 6 adults staying there and there was more than enough space for everyone to be comfortable. The beds were very comfortable, communication was excellent, and having a grocery store just a block away was a huge bonus.Overall, it was a great value for everything you get, and we would absolutely stay here again if the opportunity comes up.

Atelier Dionysiou exceeded all our expectations! When looking for the address on Google Maps the area looks run down because of all the graffiti. Don’t let that discourage you. All of Athens suffers from an overload of graffiti. The area is actually quite nice, very safe and within 25 to 40 minutes walking from downtown and the main attractions. The apartment itself is almost too nice to be a short-term rental. All the furniture is of high quality and great taste. The open kitchen is well appointed with an induction stove, sharp knives, a large fridge, good quality pots and pans, and even a professional citrus press. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms very modern. Most of all, the owners and the managers were very concerned about our comfort and wellbeing and easy to communicate with. We truly could not have found a better place for our family to spend the holiday season together.

The fourth bedroom and third bath had a strong smell of mildew. We ran the fan but we were unable to use the fourth (master) bedroom because of this. We contacted the property managers but they were unable to get someone over to help out with this. They were on the ball but it just didn’t work out. Thankfully we didn’t need to use that bedroom. The set up for the family that had two kids, ages 10 & 8, worked perfectly as they had an adjoining bedroom that had a queen for the parents and two twins for the adults. On another note, the hot water while nice to have in abundance, came out very hot and might be a danger to little ones if not supervised. Also, there was no heat which probably works fine most of the tourist season but we were a bit cold at night and had not planned for it. If we had had warmer pjs, it would have been fine. We couldn’t find any extra blankets which would have helped also. I am just trying to be honest here and prepare folks for this unit. With a few adjustments it could be a 5 star place. The neighborhood was quant and the hosts gave lots of suggestions about where to eat and get groceries which we appreciated.

We'd like to provide some context on a few points for future guests reading this review. This guest requested an early check-in with a firm confirmation. We were happy to accommodate but explained that guaranteed early check-ins require a fee, as they involve holding the property from other guests. We believe this is important context for anyone reading this review. Regarding the fourth bedroom, this property was recently renovated — the owner personally designed and renovated the apartment with love — and stayed in it immediately prior to this guest's arrival with no mildew issues present. Our cleaning team and the owner made multiple attempts to come assess the situation, but the guest wasn't responsive to multiple attempts. We take air quality and hygiene EXTREMELY seriously and would have resolved this promptly, if the problem existed, had we been able to gain access. The apartment has heaters up to 30°C in each bedroom and two in the living area (6 total), clearly outlined in our home manual, which also notes extra blankets are available upon request. Regarding hot water — the concern was that water was too hot. Most guests love the strong hot water and shower pressure. The heater is adjustable, and we encourage families with young children to supervise during bath time.

The location was convenient to catch a bus to Meteora. Mary provided great listings of places to eat close by. Lights in the stairwell need to be replaced. We had a mid understanding in our check in time. Mary was quick on responding and retrofired it. The neighborhood unfortunately has been subject to lots of graffiti.

Thank you so much for the kind words and for taking the time to share such detailed feedback — we're thrilled the location worked well for your Meteora trip and that our restaurant recommendations hit the mark! A few notes: we've flagged the stairwell lighting with building management and it will be addressed. On check-in, thank you for your patience — the prior guests' late departure was outside our control, and we appreciated how smoothly things worked out once we sorted it. And you're right that there's street art in the neighborhood — it's a well-known feature of this part of Athens and part of what gives the area its character, which we do mention in the listing. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay overall, and hope to host you again on a future trip to Athens!

À propos de l’hôte

I split my time between Asia and Europe and run a foundation supporting neurodivergent individuals, so creating beautiful, welcoming spaces is part of my personal mission. Hosting is a joy for me because I love helping others slow down, reconnect, and experience something extraordinary. I hand-picked every detail of this home—with comfort and character in mind. It’s a place where family and friends can make lasting memories, just like we have.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

After travelling to Athens many times, I fell in love with the authentic nature of this neighborhood. No tourist traps here. The restaurants and cafes are the best in Athens, the people are authentic and beautiful artistic souls, and it's affordable and livable.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

My home is unique because I wanted it to be comfortable enough for children of all ages but with a design focus. The design of my home reflects the neighborhood - a respect for beauty, but being one's self, unapologetically. When I purchased the flat, it had a large unique wall mural painted by one of the former residents. Instead of painting over it to make it a cookie cutter home, I kept it and reflected some colors in the adjoining bedroom so it blends and brings it together and honors the former resident. I also wanted some luxe touches like the marble, the clawfoot bathtub and fun and colorful art. Some of the art pays homage to my home Hong Kong, some are artworks that were created by artist friends. Last, it had to have an amazing kitchen, since the ingredients are so fantastic in Athens and Greece. I hope you can whip up some magical creations in the kitchen!
