Do you want to be close to the waterfront in Old Town Manteo? Then, welcome aboard private yacht " STARRY BANNER ". This award winning vintage yacht was privately commissioned to Tiffany Yachts to cruise the Atlantic Coast. The Starry Banner is now available to our guests, for their accommodation, who would like a unique vacation experience. Join us on the waterfront, in the Historic Old Town Manteo Waterfront Marina. The Starry Banner was featured on the Manteo Christmas homes tour in 2014! Then, in 2015, the Starry Banner won " Best Power Boat - Owner Restored" award in the Manteo Wooden Boat Show. Why don't you be the judge ~ welcome aboard, and enjoy all that the wonderful town of Manteo and Roanoke Island has to offer right at your own dock!

Amazing Experience!

I surprised my fiancĂ© with a last minute OBX vacation and found this incredible gem. The Starry Banner & the interaction with our hosts Dan and Katherine far exceeded our expectations based on other VRBO rentals. The boat is immaculate and far better equipped than most houses I’ve rented. The overall boat experience was everything I had hoped for.Interaction with Katherine began before the trip with helpful information to make our stay enjoyable. We were late getting to the boat (8:30pm) so the hosts graciously left lights on for us, Parking was super close and they have a cart available right on the dock to make loading/unloading a breeze. We were greeted by a lovely handwritten note and fresh flowers.A couple of quick items to note which were fears before I got there
the air conditioning was great, water pressure in the shower was strong, bed was spacious and very comfortable, We had some pretty windy conditions during our stay and I could barely feel the boat move at all (and I’m very succeptable to seasickness). Location-couldn’t have been better! Manteo is such a chill place. We loved exploring during First Friday’s with all the outdoor vendors (picked up a fantastic homemade peach pie!) Poor Richard’s had an outdoor band one night which we enjoyed from the fly bridge. It was like having our own personal concert! The first morning Katherine sent a breakfast recommendation for Mia’s. Short walk from the boat, great b-fast sandwiches and baked goods. Will be back!!!!

Beautiful boat

My wife and I had never been to the Outer Banks before this trip. Staying on a boat was a great way to enjoy the area. Their boat is very clean and well located to enjoy much of what the area has to offer. Katherine and Dan were great hosts, recommending places to go and things to do. We would definitely stay again.

Exceeded our expectations

The boat had everything we needed, and then some. They say that location is everything and this was perfect. We enjoyed wandering around town, sampling what restaurants and shops had to offer. We enjoyed relaxing down below and having drinks and snacks on the fly bridge while we enjoyed the weather.Looking forward to returning. The hosts were great communicators.

She is a beautiful and unique vintage yacht. Everything you could ask for and more. Beautifully restored and in a charming town of Manteo. The owners were responsive. I actually met them twice. Would definitely come back

Perfect!

The Starry Banner was the perfect spot for our stay in Manteo! The location was great - so easy to walk to restaurants and shops - and staying on a boat was fun! The boat was clean, well maintained, and beautiful. Katherine’s messages were clear and helpful. I highly recommend a stay on the Starry Banner!

Perfect!! Book it!

We met hosts Dan & Katherine when we booked a sailing charter with them back in April. It was a wonderful experience and when they told us about their 1970s yacht rental in the marina we had to check it out. SO glad we did! It was absolutely perfect. Obviously the location can’t be beat, everything was beautifully restored and clean, the bed was super comfy, and there’s even wifi! What a cool experience. It is a boat, so know there are slight quirks with the bathroom - nothing crazy, and this had zero effect on our fantastic stay. Eat at 1587, walk/run around Festival Park, visit all the super cute shops, and just enjoy coffee and a sunrise from the top deck. We had the best time!!

Excellent getaway

This was the most wonderful vacation we've had! The boat was a wonderful place to relax and is docked in an excellent location. Our hosts were wonderful and very helpful, providing extra information and great spots to stop. We're already planning our 2025 visit to the same exact spot!

Manteo perfect getaway

Katherine and Dan have this beautiful boat set up perfectly for anyone that wants to just get away and relax. The communication was top notch and they are amazing hosts. It's tucked away in Manteo, away from the crowdedness of OBX tourism.

My husband and I, and our two pups, were blown away by Katherine and Dan's kindness and hospitality during our stay on Starry Banner. This was our second time staying aboard Starry Banner, and it is clear that Katherine and Dan never cease to go above and beyond, exceeding expectations. From the thoughtful welcome gift, to the wonderful and informative sailing charter, the hosts of Starry Banner are an integral part of making Manteo feel like a second home. It is always a pleasure staying on Starry Banner, and we hope to do so again soon. The boat itself is well-crafted and charming. The space is clean and welcoming. The location of Starry Banner is perfect, with easy access to all of Manteo's local shops, restaurants, and historic sites. The hosts, Katherine and Dan, are very responsive. They also offer sailing charters, which has become one of our favorite Outer Banks experiences. Whether rain or shine, you will not be disappointed by your stay on Starry Banner!

Absolutely adored

After a stressful June we decided we needed some respite and only had a few days to make a quick trip work. Ironically the days we had available matched the available days for The Starry Banner. We were quick to book and excited about the trip even though we anticipated rainy days. We met Dan and Katherine last September when we booked a charted sailboat tour. Katherine is always so responsive and sweet. We were able to check in early and fell in love with Starry Banner. It felt like home. The boat is well equipped with amenities. We enjoyed our time aboard and we look forward to returning soon. We highly recommend chartering an evening sunset sail with Dan and Katherine. Even if it’s cloudy you will have an amazing time listening to the water and the wind catching the sails.

Unique, clean, and fun accommodations, conveniently located steps away from restaurants, entertainment, and supplies. Katherine and Dan were a text away and very responsive to questions concerning the yacht to suggestions to where to eat. One of the best experiences we have ever enjoyed. We plan to return in the fall.

A Unique Stay with a Fabulous View

If you are up for something different, the Starry Banner is a beautifully crafted yacht with first class provisions. The only thing you need to bring are your clothes and favorite toiletries. Though there is a fully stocked kitchen, there’s no need to cook as there are restaurants only steps away. It is a docked boat, and you will feel a little movement so if you are sensitive to motion, simply get some non-drowsy Dramamine.

Anniversary Trip

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay aboard the Starry Banner. It was very unique and fun. Katherine and Dan are wonderful people that were available all the time with some helpful suggestions on what was going on in the town of Manteo and surrounding area. Gorgeous restored yacht!

We so loved staying on this beautiful yacht in the quaint little town of Manteo on the sound! Katherine and Dan make you feel very welcomed as well as all the people on the dock and in the town! It felt like home! Always very responsive to any questions we had and recommended places to eat or visit. We brought our pups, Mickey and Minnie, and everyone knew who they were and were all concerned when Mickey had a potential life threatening issue (sand impaction is a real thing) and almost was hospitalized. I highly recommend Roanoke Island Animal Clinic as well! The area is very dog friendly. We also highly recommend the sunset cruise with Katherine and Dan on their beautiful sailboat! They allow you to navigate the waters at Dan's direction which is a very cool experience as well. If you're looking for a very unique vacation and experience, you need to book with them for both! (Well, we really would rather keep this place our own little secret lol). Thank you Katherine and Dan for a wonderful vacation. We found our new happy place!

The best!

What a fun experience! I know now our pup would not last living on a boat but he did pretty good for a few days. Not a water dog lol! The closeness to the main walkway and green grass for potty breaks perfect and the restaurants and shops were soooo close! Loved it!

What a beautiful boat and the location is perfect. You never have to move your car everything is within walking distance. Great place to visit and relax. Don and Katherine are super host if anything goes wrong or you need anything they are right there to help.

Outer Banks get away

Had a wonderful time aboard The Starry Banner! It definitely exceeded our expectations. Dan and Katherine are amazing hosts. They were very prompt with answering questions and gave us several great suggestions on various places to eat and things to do around the area. The location is great, within walking distance of several restaurants and shops. They also offer sunset sailboat cruises, which I highly recommend! Would definitely stay at The Starry Banner again.

Reliving boating

Starry Banner was just as depicted....very clean, well appointed and an unusual and enjoyable experience. Katherine and Dan go out of their way to ensure the property is set up properly and explain the nuances and practices for living on board. The "yacht" has been metculously restored and is moored in an excellent location in the Manteo marina within walking distance of everything you might want or need. Parking was also very accessible. For a fun, different and enjoyable stay you really should climb a board Starry Banner.

The owners, Katherine and Dan, have lived on Roanoke Island for over 20 years. We love the town, it's people & way of life, and of course the waters surrounding the Outer Banks. Katherine is an architect who lived for a while on Ocracoke and Dan is a boat builder, still working some in Wanchese, so we are both drawn to the water and all of the great activities it offers. We also own a 41 Ft ketch just a couple slips away and do sunset sail charters (check it out at www.sailouterbanks.com )

Starry Banner is a classic 46 Ft Tiffany Motor Yacht, built in 1976, the interior mahogany has been beautifully maintained over the years. For those with a boater's mindset, it is a little like stepping back in time to see a lower station helm with the original wooden spoke helm wheel and the upper helm station just for cruising in nice weather and of course for docking.

The upper bridge is our favorite place to hang out, especially around sunset. There is plenty of seating and fun to bring up some drinks and snacks and chat with the friendly dock neighbors or watch the kids jump off the bridge. We are pet friendly ($75 pet fee) so if you are bringing a dog or two let us know - they are welcome too!
