Steps away from beach access and just a few blocks from the garden city pier. You’ll feel right at home in this precious little cottage.

Cute Little Cottage

Reviewer Comments: This home is exactly like the pictures show, it is a bit dated with wood paneling and carpets throughout - some minor issues - but all in all a great little cottage for the price - EXCELLENT location across from the Beach Access and about a block from the Pier.

We have stayed several times before with no issues, but this year their are misquitos flying around the vents under house and we did see a roach in living room.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Abernathy Cottage has a wheelchair ramp and we have stayed there several times. It is a comfortable place with great parking for 3 vehicles, one being a handicap van. It is a beautiful place. The view of the ocean from the front porch and large windows is wonderful. The homes in front of it are on stilts so that you can see under them and see the ocean waves. There are several rockers on the porch and it’s wonderful and calming to set there. It’s a great place to bring your whole family and to have fun together. Love, love, love this house! It meets our large family needs! ❤️

"Our" beach house!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I say "our" beach house because our 2 families have been staying at the Abernathy cottage for about the last 20 years. Our parents and grandparents used to bring my cousin and I when we were small and now that we have families of our own we try to get together once a year and return with our children. I am in SC and she is in IN. There is no other place we would rent. It's walking distance to the pier and you get to enjoy the beach view from the front porch. We arrived this year to see a new deck on the front and we loved it!!

Not worth the money

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Not as good as in the past. We could not sit or porch for the flies. On Wednesday when trash was emptied we saw maggots in trash can. Not from us as we didn’t throw any food out. We had to wash the cans out. Sickening. Next came the ants. Also one bed had two fitted sheets. King b d has the hole coming back on right side. Frying pans left black on the pancakes, so old and used so much.

Unfortunately, Last Stay.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family & I have rented Abernethy on 4 separate occasions, spending well over 15 thousand dollars. We always enjoyed the quite, clean cottage. Unfortunately, this was not the case during this stay. Early in the week, we quickly realized that we were constantly being "policed" by a lady that lived nearby. She would keep walking by the house trying to see if we were doing something wrong. One day while on the beach, a lightening storm suddenly approached. Trying to quickly make our way to safety, we followed this same lady down a pathway between two houses. Later that afternoon, I received a call from the realtor stating that she had reported us for trespassing. She continued to closely monitor everything we did for the remainder of the week. My family is made up of a teacher, headmaster, and an HR professional. All we wanted to do is quietly relax and unwind, but this was not the case. Garden City Reality and Abernethy are wonderful, but I cannot recommend this place if your looking for a relaxing, stress free, private vacation.

Simply the Best

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Was the perfect family getaway! My parents are older and we have young children so this home was ideal with only having a few steps and no flight of stairs to navigate. The beach access was right across the street with its own shower, plus the home had one too and a water hose to rinse off gear. The proximity to the pier, shops and other attractions was also so close. We really enjoyed the old beach house vibes, was very nostalgic to all of us. Garden City Realty made the booking and accommodations simply seamlessly. Thank you for a great vacation.

We stay here because it has a wheelchair ramp. The house is clean, close to the beach and a great place to stay. There are plenty of bed space. We always cook and I love the kitchen. We have so many great memories that have been made here.

It is now our go to beach house. Close to anything you need. Of course the beach but also groceries, golf, restaurants, arcades and ice cream.

Unfortunately, it was well after 5pm on Saturday before we were allow to check in, and the cleaning inspector arrived a few hours later. Overall, it was nice.
